I don't grudge a band their success. And don't get me wrong, I dont hate Diru as a band or as people or anything...I wouldn't doubt there's a lot of politics and other cooks in the kitchen, to speak metaphorically.
The system kinda sucks though, why does a band have to sound like everyone else to "make it"...why do they have to change themselves to become the ho hum status quo in order to become legends?

In a few years, maybe sooner, hardcore will be incredibly passe...but for the moment its all the rage, so naturally a new band with hard rock and metal leanings trying to garner attention and respect (not a very good kind of respect if you ask me...its compromising a lot) has to be just another hardcore band to entertain the American kiddies.
It's because most American teens are superficial. Everyone sounds like everyone else nowadays because that's what teens buy. They don't care if there's no originality to it, as long as they can scream and headbang.
Honestly, I wish Diru would go back to doing their own thing. They may not get as much attention right away, but they might just be able to get these people to think beyond the screaming. Even if they didn't get that effect, in the end they would still be able to say "Well, we tried to get through to those brainless sheep."

It'd be a nice bait-and-switch. "Hey, here's some hardcore for you, scene kid- Wait! No! It's visual kei, gotcha b***h!"

What kind of VK are we going to spring on them?...purist VK? Matina-era lace and leather VK? Or is it going to be a hybrid like Diru?

Wouldn't you prefer all of it at once?

But I'd figure since Dir en Grey is doing it, it'd be hybrid.

When I first got into Diru, my favorite member was Die. Then, it changed to Kaoru. And now, I think it's Kyo.

But, overall, I love and respect all of them. ^^
[Even if they do things I don't agree with.]

For some reason this makes me laugh...apparently I'm not alone in thinking that Diru may be alienating fans with the direction they are headed in, but I think this writer wasn't even in the ballpark when they said that Diru was selling out confused Kinda harsh even...

I agree on some points, but definitly not on others...but I do hope neophyte American fans do manage to get a taste of what Diru can REALLY do instead of that hardcore crap...

Europe apparently ^_^;
You can't deny her her opinion even if its unfair...
Some of her points are legit, she just doesn't back it up very well with anything rooted in anything else but gut reaction.

I'd go read it, but I'm really not in the mood to read someone saying they sold out. ^^; Her points may be legit, but it's still not my cup of tea. -huggles her Diru cds- No matter what direction they go, be it back to their older stuff or further go into the hardcore genre, I'm always gonna love em. whee

A day late in this guild, but a very happy birthday to Die! He was so totally the big three two yesterday. Now Kaokao's not the only old man! XD

Thought One: Damn, I love Grief.
Thought Two: Damn, I love the PV.
Thought Three: TMOAB resembles Vulgar.
Thought Four: It is truly a boss album.

Grief is all right...not a fave, but its not too bad either.

I can see where the resemblence to Vulgar lies, but I think Vulgar overall was a more entertaining, fun album.

My overall verdict: TMOAB is better than Withering to Death.
It's not as captivating as I had hoped, but there are some interesting tracks on there.
Passable.
Agitated Scream of Maggots is still awful -_-; though its vaguely more tolerable on the album...did they change it up a little?
