i dont know what mine is... Crystal. i hear my teacher say it all the time but i dont remember and i just heard it like 90 minutes ago.

The direct transliteration would be クリスタル ("Kurisutaru") although it does seem that あきら ("Akira") is a real female Japanese name that can (when written with one of a couple different characters) mean "crystal".

My name is Dakota, so it would be pronounced much like the English saying of it, but "A" sounds like "a" in father, but shorter. "O" sounds like "o" in old. Da-Koo-ta. (If somebody could get the Kanji or Katakana of that up here, I would be happy. My computer doesn't want to cooperate.)

Katakana: トーリー

Kanji:

Furigana and Romanization: とり / Tori

Meaning: Foreign names translated into katakana usually don't have a meaning... However, mine just happens to double as both the (rather uncommon) nickname for "Victoria," as well as the Japanese pronunciation for the word "bird."

And yes. When I went to Japan for the first time, I did get a lot of amused looks whenever I was called to introduce myself. <[=^~^=]>U"
