Varth had been doing his utmost to ignore his new siblings, grumbling irritably in A'bri's mind about the number of other Browns and taking no notice of any of the others (except Arioth, who he continued to shoot glares at down the table). Even he, however, snapped to attention when the baby Blue came barreling out of his egg, screaming and wailing, and plunged into the crowd of Candidates. Varth's eyes swirled rapidly between white and orange, and he keened.

:Mine he is loud and upset and I do not like it!:

"I know, love, I know," A'bri replied, moving over to put his arms around Varth's neck protectively. The tension that had rocketed through him when the poor Blue started to scream left him feeling the need to shelter something, anything, and even if Varth could likely handle himself, A'bri wanted to hold him. The noise was absolutely tearing at him. He wanted to rush right back out onto the Sands and help it.

Varth shifted uncomfortably, and took a few steps back, effectively pulling A'bri with him and burying his head against A'bri's chest. Stroking him, A'bri whispered quiet words, his attention split between his own baby and the poor frenzied baby on the sands. Please find Yours, please find Yours, please find Yours, he thought, the words almost a mantra in his mind as he watched.

Mine, make him be quite. Mine... Hasufeth whined quietly and rubbed his head under M'rik's chin, closing his eyes tightly. He is loud. Mine, I don't like it.
M'rik clasped his hands over the little Blue's ears, though he assumed the sound could still be heard quite clearly. It was sharp... and sad. Something was wrong with poor thing, that much was clear to see. Mine, he can't find his. Make him stop! Pitiful thing. If it went /between/... M'rik huffed and shook his head, trying not to broadcast such thoughts. Sad little thing! It had to find its Rider. Nothing deserved to stay that lost for so long.
Can't you calm him down? Mine, make him stop...

N'tos's actions didn't seem to indicate that he had heard the whisper, but there was no indication that he didn't. There was no trace of judgement, especially on the ILA's actions, as N'tos chuckled. He laughed at the amusing story, uncharacteristic of J'riar, but it was amusing all the same. "Ah, tell me before you plot anything. That way, I can avoid using it.. especially the bathrooms." He joked, leaning back onto his seat.

S'van seemed out of sorts, N'tos tilting his head. But he chose not to comment, making Asceth slightly curious. "S'nothing." He said to Asceth, to calm him. Those efforts were blown out of the water though, by the peicing screech that blue let out.

It looked troubling at the beginning.. but it is doing well now..? Asceth answered to the older brown.. only to be proven wrong. Oh no. A rumble came from his throat, urging priority elsewhere. It is distressed. He offered an encouraging croon to the blue. There surely had to be a candidate, somewhere on the sands for it?

The cheerful banter and tally of the eggs trailed off at the keening sound of the little blue. Something was not right for the little thing to be making that heart wrenching sound.

Rom grapped the sleeve of her cousin's shirt hard, jerking him back into his seat before he could do something stupid. "Cousin, if you have any sense you will stay here. If you jump into those sands with some...some dimglow idea of helping that little hatching," She hissed as the little creature cried again. "I will break your nose a third time and you will not remain to see the outcome." She keep the steady hard glare into the slightly tearing hazel till her cousin looked away, racking a hand though his hair.

She turned back to the sands. "You feel to much 'Rish." She muttered, but her fingers didn't uncurl even though her nails where breaking the skin of her palms. In truth she wanted to tell her slightly younger relative to leave. Instead Rom kept quite, lips pressed in a thin line.

"Shards, I know, I know. Ianquith already lectured me enough about it. It's not like I meant to deny him his right to relieve himself! I'd have let him use that one before I really messed with it, but it was a little too--" He shut up suddenly at the sudden scream, Ianquith's alarm shooting straight through him and making his heart clench with sudden apprehension. "Oh Shards," He whispered, unconsciously rising from his seat as though to better seen the little blue dragon, the way he'd startled the brown and rushed past as though hardly even noticing. Nearby, the little green was beginning to show noticeable signs of distress.

"... Shards and Shells," S'van breathed, his heart contracting in his chest. Oh Shards. Was... was that little Blue going to be all right? "J'ri... " This time, he said his friend's name out of a need to give and receive comfort, not able to go to Galliath just now. The big Brown would've been good company, but alas, he could not reach him from here. Mine, he is lost, he is distressed. He cannot find his... I think. Perhaps his is hiding? Still so innocent. S'van smiled bleakly, and hoped that all would be well. Hoped desperately. Let tragedy be averted. Oh please, let the little Blue find His.

--

Vera listened to Xeran's voice, more soothed by his tone than by his words. "They were..." She did not, however, point out that this seemed different. The little baby seemed so fragile, and afraid... and... hurting? Something wasn't right, clearly, or would have have been lurching about in that manner? It was only the second Hatching that she had seen, and already she was regretting having attended it. But then again, she could not be sure that there was anything wrong with the baby. ... Maybe it was just a silly fear. But that sound! That horrible, gut-twisting sound. She could not quite get over it.

That shriek pierced E'si's ears, and he couldn't help but be drawn onto his feet, trying to get a better look at the Hatching to see what was going on. A small blue had hatched, and while a dragonet hatching at a Hatching wasn't unusual... something was different. Something was up. The blue looked lost, and very upset already. It hadn't even taken a moment to catch its breath before seeming to panic. He was sure if the blue calmed down, it would be able to find the person for him within no time at all. But, as it were, it had E'si worried. The Weyrling glanced to his side, looking quickly to S'van, seeing an expression of concern that was far greater than the one visible on his face. He considered approaching his friend, even sort of wanted to, but for the time being resisted. He'd just watch the Hatching and wait to see what happened with the distraught little blue.

* * *

Silute watched the brown dragonet with some amount of interest, his attention being drawn from his brother and back to the Hatching. He could worry about E'si later, right now he was here for this, even if he had no idea what to do other than stand in place and try to avoid getting mauled to bloody pieces. The brown was heading over to the boys, but a little blue had just hatched that...

What was it doing?

He paused, a small frown creasing his usually cheerful face. The scream hurt his ears, keyed him in to the fact that something wasn't right, but he couldn't understand what, or rather why, the blue was behaving the way it was. It was his first Hatching, his first experience with a Hatching. The dragonets before the blue hadn't behaved that way, but then again, some had behaved rather radically. Maybe it would be all right? He just wasn't sure, and tried to swallow down the small bit of worry that tightened his throat.

Cavaruth's eyes wheeled around looking for the shrieking little one. His wings started to flinch as he sat on the ledge because he felt that chivalrous need to rescue the little one from such utter distress. However, the Queen would get viscious if he flew down there... He chimed out a gentle call to try and calm the young blue. Someone needed to react to this...soon!

A'ras looked up to the ledge where his blue sat trying to make sure that Cav didn't do something rash. Although, he could understand his dragons need and desire to help. Sometimes there were things that needed rescuing...this little tiny blue was one of those! "Shards, I hope that one doesn't go between. Damn!" he muttered angrily under his breath wanting to curse the blasted candidate that brought this upon the hatchling and candidates.

Santhea sat up, letting her arm swing loosely to her side. "Oh, the poor blue.." she whispered, her face sad. Oh, the little dragonet, oh, please let it find it's friend!
She knelt back up again, pushing onto her knees with her good hand - the wrist she had fallen onto felt numb, but Santhea was sure the pain would come soon. She concentrated her gaze on the blue.

Surely it's friend was here?

If not..

Santhea tried not to think that thought. It would be awful, and ruin the whole hatching. The blue was a beautiful creature, even with it eyes whirling and neck arched so tight. "Someone find the poor dragonet.." she said, watching the animal whirl. She was positive the blue wouldn't come to her (if it had meant to, surely it would have seen her after knocking her down, maybe?), and she inclined her body forward, feeling pain etched on her face - she could hear the agony in the hatchlings screams too clearly.

He'd managed this far into the Hatching watching silently, but the sight of the Blue was honestly breaking Anont's heart. He'd had to shift, ever so slightly, clutching his robes in his fists to keep from doing anything. The rules were there for a reason- enough Candidates had been injured already without him doing anything, and stepping in would just make matters worse. Still, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for the little dragonet. The brown was fine- he hoped, anyway- so Anont's focus was entirely on the frenzied little blue.

He wondered, vaguely, how those in the stands were reacting- his rider friends, and those not interested in riding for themselves. Was it as heartbreaking, off of the sands, away from this? Or could they all feel that same pain, and torment, at watching the poor creature struggle? Oh, His had to be somewhere- and hopefully they would be of comfort to the dragon. Yes, it'd definitely need to be a calming presence for this little guy. Biting his lower lip to keep from speaking or crying out, Anont watched in pained silence.

Poor, poor Blue..

"....that's not a good sound," was all Marko could manage, staring at the little blue as he listened to Vera and Xeran. It wouldn't take anyone who knew dragons to recognize the emotion in that shriek, just someone who knew anything about emotion..or even about sound. Something was wrong. Instinctively, he stepped closer to the other two Harpers.

Without thinking, one of his arms went around Xeran's back, and he dropped a hand to touch Vera on the shoulder, staring at the Sands so intensely his fear of dragons might have evaporated for the time-being. It had, but only to be replaced by the beginnings of dread and sorrow.

For all the danger hatchlings caused, things couldn't end like this for one of them.

A...blue? Velrun was frankly shocked, even more so as the poor thing screamed and barreled headlong into the crowd. He scowled...had that dragon been in the egg that had been touched? The egg was far larger than normal for a blue, and the dragonet was far more aggressive than normal. He grimaced, feeling something shove into him and looked down...the brown had cowered and slipped past to hide among the boys. He edged away, not wanting to touch it unneedly. Another cry from the blue. The way things looked it would be mauling next...He shifted towards the crowd of girls a bit. He could no more run and stop the dragon than anyone else, but surely someone could do something...

Up in the stands Merase gasped as the blue came out charging. The noise hurt her ears, and she nearly fell into the people in front of her in fear. "W-what's wrong with it?" She asked those near her. Confused headshakes and mumblings all around. "It looks angry..." she whimpered, hunkering down in a bit of fear. "It won't...hurt anyone like those others, will it?" Despite her fear she leaned forward. Please be okay...Everyone! Little blue...don't hurt them, they just want to help...it'll be okay! She wished fervently that maybe, just maybe the blue would hear her and take heart.

Zafir took a step towards the blue, heart breaking as it raced. To think, there were so many people here, all hoping to be the mind that would save the little dragon, and yet, none seemed right. It was only Raedue's hand still anchoring him that kept him from heading even closer to it. And that was good, he realized, because the little one was deadly in this state. It wouldn't mean to... But it could probably do more damage than the angry pair he'd heard so much of. This one was distraught, frantic.

Watching it was terrible, and so, he closed his eyes for a moment. Eventually, though, he had to open them again, unable to ignore the little one. And so, he simply continued his mantra. "You'll be happy soon, little one. Happy as a clutching queen at hatching... Happy like you should be." He only hoped that the end of the blue's torment would come from Impression, and not from death.

Jaid watched as a blue exploded out of what seemed like a too-big egg. But something seemed...off. It was barreling towards the girls. Though that wasn't uncommon (blues sometimes did Impres females, after all), the way the dragonet behaved was. He winced as he braced to witness another mauling and was at leats mildly relieved when all it did was bowl some girls over. He hoped that was all that would happen- a clumsy trample. But oh, this poor dragon's plight was painful to watch and, as it shrieked in distress, to hear as well. The Weaver boy had been through four Hatchings before this and not once had he seen a little dragon go Between. He hoped he wouldn't see one go today.

And here he had thought that things were looking up.

Please don't go, little one. There are so many here! he willed mentally, as ineffectual as it was.

There were a ton of Candidates that he knew would care for the the blue, that would love it but...caring wasn't the same as being The One. His Bonded. Oh shards, he hoped that the little one's Bonded was just hidden or harder to find...to lose a dragonet would be horrible and quite frankly, Jaidev felt the day had met its quota for that.

Denik gasped when the blue charged, and hoped nobody would be hurt. Shards, not again!

He turned toward the brown nearby. It seemed frightened by the blue's behavior too. I hope you both find yours soon so you don't get hurt... The boy glanced at the blue again. It seemed to rival the aggressiveness of the first two hatchlings.

The little Blue was much more explosive, volitile.
He was also loud.

The sounds he made caused Rumir to cringe visibly, subconsciously leaning closer to Tideal, as though in an attempt to shield himself. Tideal was calm and collected, and didn't show much of being affected by the Impressions around him. But that noise, oh, that horrible noise! It was full of sadness and pain, and for a moment, Rumir wondered if he could not find His.

The thought made him whine.

If he could not find His, he would blink Between and die. To lose a dragon in such a way was both frightening and terribly sad. 'Don't give up, little fella,' he willed mentally, hoping it would do some good. 'You'll find Yours, you will!'

He had to.
If he didn't, Rumir didn't know what he would do.
At the other end of boys, the little Brown was searching for His.
