The kunai hit the mark, the most important mark of all actually, the heart. He had to admit that now he was feeling really good about things now. Hoshi grinned and pumped the air with his fists, "Wow I'm really doing well with the Kunai." he noted as he picked up another kunai and took aim at the dummy once more. "Here goes nothing." he said tossing the kunai.

Training Exercise:

17/31

Ranged Attack: 1

Target Practice
Each student will be given a basic set of 6 shurikens and 3 kunai knives (or 15 senbon) and taken outside to the wooden dummies for target practice. They're expected to aim for 31 total points.
1 - 5 = Miss
6 - 10 = Just hit (1 point)
11 - 15 = Stomach (2 points)
16 - 19 = Head (3 points)
20+ = Heart (5 points)
Formula: 1d20 + Attack Ranged
Training: 0/31 points
Rewards: +3 Kunai, +3 Shuriken skill (or +6 in a specific ranged weapon category)

Instructions: Roll 1d20. Add your Attack Ranged to the roll. That is your final dice roll. Find the matching range that final roll is in.

--

Hoshi sighed as he managed to find the kunai and shuriken that had gone off from the dummy's position into the forest. Thankfully the weapons hadn't gone too far away so he didn't have to go looking too far. "Finally. Well back to the ol' training exercise." he said as he set himself up back in front of the dummy. He'd already retrieved the weapons from the dummy and had one of the Kunai in his hand ready to try his luck with the kunai first instead of the shuriken. "Here. We. Go!" Hoshi said tossing the kunai at the dummy with a grunt, hoping that the added force would give him an edge.

Hoshi grinned, the kunai had connected with the shoulder, it wasn't a vital spot, but according to the scroll he didn't make much of a score. At least he'd hit the target this time, so he was happy and picked up another kunai. "And the next one!" he said tossing the kunai at the dummy. This was supposed to be an exercise that would get him used to tossing a weapon at a target. Well if they said it would then there was nothing that he could do to object to the reasoning behind it.

The second Kunai didn't hit the target at all and Hoshi figured that he put too much force into the throw and decided that the less force the better. "Well if that's the case then lets try it one more time." he said launching another kunai at the dummy, wondering if his talent wasn't for throwing things. It was possible that he would do far better with hand to hand or even jutsu, although this training was all that bad at times.

((Shuriken roll = roll + 3))

Lula walked back over to the throwing range while Kazumei was lost in his thoughts. She flipped open her shuriken pouch and pulled six of them out. "Oh, and 'ello there, boy-o! Ye must be the freshest addition to our newly-formed group. Very nice ta meet ya. Name's Lula. Ye can be callin' me Lula or Lulu, whichever happens to be suitin' yer fancy." She nodded to the boy and turned back on her dummy. "And this'd be gettin' too easy..." She nodded now to herself... She thought for a moment. "And that'd certainly be tryin' me. We'll see just what I'd be gettin' in the way of that little 'venture." She backed up. 50 feet. 60... 65 feet from the target. 25 feet past the functioning range of most shuriken.

((Shuriken roll = roll + 3))

Lula flung both handfuls of shuriken at the target. Three drilled into the immobilizing points: right shoulder, right hip, left hip... And the other three drilled into the dummy's heart. Right side... Left side... upper half... Lula grinned. That worked like a charm. She jumped up and ran forward to grab her shuriken. I don't like those kunai. I'm not going to be usin' those again. Too cumbersome... Although they have endless potential for traps. Her mind was working over the plans for such traps as she stepped back into the 65 foot range. Her life was going to be easy... So long as the target never got to her. She fell back into a crouch and primed her shuriken, her right hand at her left cheek and her left hand at her right cheek. She stared between the blades as she sighted in her target. She jumped in a wide-arced backflip and shot all six of the shuriken at the target. She wasn't showing off. She was testing herself. She needed to be ready for anything... And that's exactly what she'd be ready for.

((Shuriken roll = roll + 3))

Six thunks from the target. Lula looked and saw three protruding from its stomach in a nice vertical column, and three more had struck its heart: one on the lower half, and two striking at exactly the same point in the dead center of the heart. And that'd be all me points... She sighed, running back up to the target and removing her shuriken. This time, she'd be making this a little bit harder for herself. Ain't no sense in tryin' to learn if yer right all the time, now is there? And so she ran. 75 feet. 85... 95... And jsut a hop and a skip away, 100. She turned on the dummy and primed her six shuriken again. An' now let's be seeing how it handles the pressure from all the way back here. She took the first shot easy: she primed the shuriken, aimed and launched them towards the target with all the concentration of a student just learning to throw.

((Shuriken roll = roll + 3))

She didn't hear the shuriken hit the target. In fact, after their flying dance, she hardly saw them hit the target at all, small as they were. So she ran back up to the target and saw the damage: three shuriken had hit the right hip, and three more had made a haphazard triangle on the dummy's stomach. She ran her fingers through the holes in the middle of the shuriken, ripping them from the dummy one by one. "Now there's a challenge." She ran back to her one-hundred-foot mark and jumped, turning a wide-arced frontflip with a 180 spin, launching the shuriken as soon as she saw the dummy through the shuriken she had primed mid-flip.

((Shuriken roll = roll + 3))

And once again, Lula heard nothing of the shuriken save for the whistling that one of the groups had made. She landed her flip facing the target. She hadn't heard that whistle before... Was her hearing getting sharper? She jogged back towards the target and saw... Three of the shuriken had pegged the post underneath the target... Lined up, horizontal-like in a column. And she looked up, seeing three shuriken protruding from the very center of the heart, sharing the same bullseye. Her mouth dropped open... That was the best shot she'd ever taken, and she'd shot it at over thirty-three yards... She ripped the shuriken out of the target, splintering the wood. Hot damn... And she pulled out the shuriken in the post with considerably less force. Hell, they practically fell out of the target. Lulu swallowed and imagined just what those shuriken would have done to a human target. She made the realization suddenly: I'm... deadly... She grinned, laughing... She wasn't the same helpless little girl she had been. She was on her way to becoming a shinobi... And nothing was going to get in her way. She sprinted back to the hundred-foot mark, taking a step and turning near-horizontal on the trunk of a tree, pushing into the next step on another tree, now twelve feet off the ground. She leaped forward and spun, throwing the six shuriken back at the target.

((Shuriken roll = roll))

She took her free-running into account, and landed her jump with a roll, springing forward with her momentum and running at an easy lope towards the target. She wasn't breathing hard when she reached the target. She hadn't used hardly any energy, instead using that initial burst of speed to pretty much carry her through the entire technique. Physics... Almost a curse. Gravity, like a disease... Bleedin' everywhere. She laughed, looking at the target again. Three had missed the main target again... but three had stuck in the dummy's head. right eye... Left eye... Third eye... She laughed again, pulling her shuriken from the target and walking back away from it. I'd be needin' somethin' even harder, then... She pulled off her shirt, ignoring all modesty as she uncovered her chest wrap. The shirt was pretty much ruined, anyway. She ripped off one of the sleeves and tore it in half length-wise. She cracked her knuckles, tossing the shirt and half-a-sleeve to the ground near a tree. She stepped back to her hundred foot mark and blindfolded herself... She was now not only impossibly far from the target, but she couldn't see it she primed the shuriken like she had been when she could see, and launched them at where she knew the target was.

((Shuriken roll = roll))

After Lula had thrown the shuriken, she had heard an extremely dull hum... Almost a sickly thing... And she had heard that musical whistle as her other handful of shuriken had launched through the air. She ran towards the target, removing the blindfold as she went. She had imitated her shot from before... Three perfect bulls-eyes and three misses. Blindfolded, she had imitated the most amazing shot of her life... It was insane. She ran her hands through her hair, looking at the shot that had bit into the already splintered wood. At this rate, there would just be a hole in the target. She reached forward, ripping out the shuriken and stepping behind the target to pull --almost effortlessly-- the remaining three shuriken from a tree behind the target. Consolidating her shuriken into her right hand, she walked back to the hundred-foot mark, wrapping what had once been half a sleeve around her eyes again. She took a deep breath, crouching back and priming her shuriken once again. She wasn't being flashy... That was new, but she couldn't afford losing her sense of direction... She slicked the shuriken forward so forcefully that she was forced to lean back in order to keep her balance.

((Shuriken roll = roll))

Lula heard a slight whistling from the shuriken, but it wasn't that harmonic note from before. She pulled off the blindfold, keeping her eyes closed for a bit to keep herself from being dazzled by the light. Jogging forward again, she took a look at the target, noticing that this time all six of the shuriken had hit home. She looked at the three that had hit the fringes, driving into both shoulders, two in the right shoulder. And she saw the three shuriken in the dummy's stomach, forming a horizontal line of shuriken lined end to end, point to point. She smiled again. This was getting to be too easy. Pulling all six of the shuriken from the target, she walked back to her mark, wrapping her eyes with the cloth once again. She fell back into that crouching position, pulling her shuriken-filled hands to the opposite cheeks and trying to feel her shot out. It was playing like a melody in her head... And when she felt it was the right moment, she launched the shuriken forward again, hoping that she had picked the right notes.
