The elf blinked at her. "Oh, do you find it scary in here?" he asked her. "I do apologize ... the idea hadn't occurred to me. Will you be all right until we reach Aragost's room?"

They weren't that far from it by now, though ... as they turned the corner at the top of the stairs and started heading down the hall, he couldn't help but wonder how she could find the barracks so scary if she so obviously had no fear of Aragost himself.

Miyu nodded, her the feathers on her wings ruffled, the feathers rippling. She was going to have to get use to this.

"A bit..." she admitted softly, "There is a lot of scary things."

The elf smiled again. 'Well, perhaps I can help you to dispel some of those fears," he murmured. "Shall I tell you everything that's in here? That way you will know, and you don't have to fear the unknown."

Since, according to what he had been told, that was why most people feared dark places.

She thought about it. perhaps things wouldn't be so scary if he did explain things to her. Even though she found it more unnerving how she could not see anything.

"I... guess... that might work."

"Well," the man smiled, "the walls, floor and ceiling are made entirely of wooden planks. If you put your hand against them, you can feel the grains ... if you're toughing them lightly enough, they sort of tickle on your palm. Higher up on the walls are a few candleholders - though no one has ever bothered to put candles in them. Too dangerous, ineffective, and no one spends that much time in the hall anyways."

He paused.

"Other than that ... there is absolutely nothing," he murmured, looking forward and backward down the hall. "Not in the halls. Just air. Inside each of the rooms are different, though, some people collect quite a few things, others have rather empty rooms."

Miyu couldn't imagine having an empty room, that would be a bit sad to her. Though otherwise everything seemed simple enough, she supposed.

"Oh..... okay..... mi....." though perhaps next time she would try to bring in a light.

The elf smiled.

"At any rate," he murmured softly, moving carefully so that he wouldn't startle the child, "here we are."

There was a soft light - but very faint - beneath the door where the elf had led Miyu, and he knocked for her just in case she couldn't tell where the door was.

A moment later, the door opened, and Aragost stood in the doorway, framed by the sunlight that was trickling in through the window in the far wall. He was wearing his cloak, as always, and, also as always, his cowl was up, hiding his face.

"Good morning, Bronwe," he murmured softly, opening the door wide. "Good morning, Miyu. It is good to see you again."

Miyu smiled up bright, her eyes blinked rapidly adjusting to the sudden light that existed. She surged forward and hugged him, which at her size meant her arms wrapping around his legs. Since that is as far as she reached.

"Yami-san!"

Aragost smiled within the shadows of his cowl and put one hand on Miyu's back.

"I'm glad to see you, too," he murmured softly. He looked up at Bronwe and nodded. "Thank you for taking her here."

The elf nodded and took a step back. "Any time," he replied softly, leaving the room and closing the door behind himself.

Aragost smiled down at Miyu again, then motioned for her to make herself comfortable.

"This is the first time you have been in here, is it not?" he murmured. "I know it's rather empty ... but I do not spend very much time in here, and so I don not notice very much."

Now that Yami-san had mentioned it... Miyu looked past him to see his room. It was very bare, it must be quite sad at night she thought to herself. Even though he did just say he did not notice it, but surely after a long hard day to have something nice to look at would cheer anyone right up.

She looked up at him and nodded, "Mi. I didn't think it would be that dark."

Aragost grimaced. "Well ... with rooms on either side of the hall, it is impossible for there to be windows to allow light inside," he told her. "Each room however has its own window, so the rooms get plenty of light."

He motioned her towards the bed and chair. "Take a seat wherever you prefer," he invited her.

Miyu looked and took the softer of the two choices, the bed of course. She padded over to it, and carefully lifted herself up. She couldn't climb up since the nature of the kimono didn't allow for it, but she managed and plopped herself down at the edge of the bed.

She smiled brightly, "It is much brighter in here."

Aragost chuckled lightly. "I'm glad you approve," he replied in amusement. "Though I have to admit that I don't mind the darkness, I know that others prefer the light."

He paused, then headed over toward the single cupboards that was in the room.

"Forgive me," he murmured, "I must prepare for my shift. You are welcome to come with me if you would like."

Miyu nodded eagerly, of course she had been told and she was more than happy to go along, "Please! It's okay, Grandma knows I was coming to see you."

Which just made her grandmother feel better because at least she knew Miyu was with someone.

Aragost smiled, then knelt in front of the cupboard and opened it, removing items and putting them in the bag that he carried around his shoulders at all times, beneath his cloak.

"Are you ready to head out, then?" he asked her quietly.
