Once again, Mathius' voice entered Merlyn's dream. She constantly looked around for him, through the dead, and among the living, but could not find him. Then scene changed to one of a gravestone on top of a hill in a town unknown to Merlyn. She looked down...and saw his name. She fell to her knees and started to cry. " What have I done, what have I done?" she said through her sobs.

Mathius began to shake her gently..."Merlyn, you are having a bad dream...if you can hear me...you can control your dream...you have the ability to do whatever you wan to do..."He hugged her and held her close..."Merlyn, you just gotta snap out of it..."

This time, Mathius' voice didn't come to her. She just sat there. Satan appeared behind her. "I told you he wouldn't come. Merlyn, you don't deserve him. He had a purer soul than you ever had. You were doomed to come to me the first time you set foot on this earth..."
"You're wrong, Devil, you have to be wrong...What about all those church sermons, all the times I prayed for forgiveness? All the times God answered my prayers...." said Merlyn.

Mathius grew angry knowing that Merlyn was unable to get out of the nightmare..."If only I could be in the nightmare with you Merlyn...He began trying to wake her up again...

Then, the earth started to shake and split into two peices. Merlyn fell down the great crack in the middle.....
She opened her eyes to see Mathius shaking her. She thought that she was still in her dream. "Wait, you're dead! You're supposed to be in heaven! Why are you here in Hell with me,....what damned you to come with me...." she said, tears streaming down her face...

Mathius immediately realized what was going on as she spoke..."I guess you could say I enjoyed the job too much..."He gave a wry smile and hugged her...

Merlyn hugged him back, knowing that she was know safe. She burried her face in his shoulder and was still crying. "I was in Hell...I don't want to go there again..."

He continued to hug her..."I know...but it will be alright now...I will not let Hell find you again...unless you wish it..."He looked at her and gave a gentle smile...

Merlyn began to say over and over, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that, it was wrong of me to do that to all of you. I'm so sorry..."

Mathius looked confused as he looked at her..."What did you do that you could have controlled...if it is about the pill, well hell...I thought that was pretty damn clever myself...I realized it quickly after I told you about the story and the reaction you gave..."

Merlyn looked at him. "But still, it must have hurt for at least a little bit...That's the one thing about this war, everything that I do now weighs me down, puts a huge weight on my shoulders..." she said with sad eyes. She looked down, ashamed at what she had done.

Mathius held her chin up..."Do not be ashamed...true I felt hurt...but only because I thought I lost you...and then..."He smiled..."Because I didn't think of it earlier...I thank you for doing that...it kept me alert...I am now aware of everything...thenk you..."He leaned in and gave her a kiss...

((hey, Steele, i have to go in about 20 minutes. I'm helping my uncle take care of his girlfriend becuase she had shoulder surgery, and her mom wants me to go with her to...well...a big town! but i'm going to be here for a littte bit. just a heads up for when I get off.))
