But, you know, for as much as I talk about taking charge of your own thought process and reprogramming it, I don't really have any idea where to start. I guess it's all just a matter of paying attention; you absently go through so many thoughts in such a short time that if you just let your mind drift, you'll never break bad habits. But how do you increase your level of mental presence so that you can disprove and discard unwanted thoughts in the moment?
I bet Google has answers.

You know how psychologists will suggest that you write a hate letter to someone and burn it as a good way to vent? I find myself doing something like that a lot. I'll find something I dislike or want to change (in myself or otherwise) or whatever that has some personal or private connection, and write out a huge post about it. And then somewhere along the line I'll decide that it isn't something I want everyone to read, or it isn't worth posting, or I don't want a discussion about it, or something else. So I'll close the tab and move on.

Well, this is certainly interesting: Chart written in R programming language. I rule. My country seems to be getting worse at reading and better at math. I have no idea why that is. Source: CollegeBoard (2011). 2011 College-Bound Seniors. Total Group Profile Report. Published 2011. Found at http://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/cbs2011_total_group_report.pdfThe source report also shows that men get better scores on average than women (though, to be fair, it seems American women are better at writing, despite the amount of texting they do). I know that might sound offensive and misogynistic to point out, but I'm just stating what's shown in that document; don't get pissed.

I'm bitter and I don't even know how to put it into words right now. I think I should go outside or have some candy.
