I don't pay any attention to WoW, so my knowledge is likewise from the RTS days of 2 & 3.

I definitely agree that they're good at creating compelling settings & characters. Though I know WC owes much of its inception to WarHammer Fantasy which of course derives from D&D, I subconsciously end up modeling the archetypes of certain fantasy races in a Blizzard-like way.

And I find the take I described, that of potential, to be interesting compared to the much more common "rebel against fate"; free will is of course a good thing (and why it takes free will to manifest said potential), but that's not what prophecy stories are primarily about IMO, so it seems like knee-jerk rebellion misses the point more often than not.
In Legacy of Kain's case, they take the player through a lot of perspectives for Raziel's destiny as he learns, so fighting against fate being an early approach showcased is in service of comprehensiveness (and it's understandable on an emotional level).

April's signposting of the primary emotional wrench in episode 1 was too much for me to bother watching; that, and I didn't find it's Blithe Spirit to be well-considered given the medium of formal classical music competition.
March Comes Like a Lion is the superior of those 2 works, but YMMV.

I stayed away from wow for lack of funds, time, and desire to anger my wife. Thus, I know Warcraft from II and III and their expansions. It was a bit convoluted, but now it is ever moreso. I just like the stories. As for the tropes, yeah. It is hard to escape the tropes. I tried to diverse a bit from them when I ran my game a year or two ago. For instance, Orcs were heavily muscled humanoids with gray skin. Perhaps not as smart, but not the raiding brutes often depicted- and definitely not orcine. In other attempts, I once tried to remake elves to make more sense to me for their abilities. Multifaceted eyes, twin opposable thumbs- one on each side of the palm, a prehensile tail. Things that made sense for them to have for increased dexterity, better sight, etc. I liked the design, but never got to use it.

I’m still dealing with the same old thoughts and issues- holding fast to a handful of favorites. They may be relatively new ones, but still a scant handful of shows that I really watch.

There was a time in my adolescence when I wanted to get into MMOs, but we didn't have a good enough internet connection for me to bother (the lag on the free MMO RuneScape made it unplayable). That and I'm never a fan of the subscription model.

Since my DM's cat-themed race was so similar to traditional elves, we did end up making our elves a bit different and more fey-like, but your idea sounds really alien and interesting.
We also barely use most of the standard races as PCs (humans, elves, and some dwarves), so in some sense it doesn't matter much for us anyhow.

How has your medical situation been progressing?

Hey! Still alive and kicking!

As for MMO's, I actually never been involved in any of them. I'm more of Video games RPG and survival horror kind of girl.

Ahhh, lag, the killer of games and scapegoat of the non-skilled. I’ve never had phenomenal internet, so yeah. I never bothered with any kind of online game. Not even streaming services. I just can’t depend on the service to keep up.

As for the race, I called them the Kri’aan. One other detail, last one I didn’t mention. Elves are often seen as being royal or noble. So, I added in antennae. Rather than have them hanging out before them, I have them resting curled around the head. This gave the appearance of a circlet or crown. Again, taking the traits often attributed to them and give it a physical representation. There was also a dwarven representation, but it was a second banana to the Kri’aan at best. Again, it was all about being an elf with a real reason for each trait.

My medical situation is healing. Been a week since the surgery, and I go back to work tomorrow. Used up my time. I’m still not at 100%, but I’m functional. Only the first day was truly terrible . . . but I slept most of it. The nurses commented on how quiet I was- but I warned them. Accustomed to working overnights, and having the surgery first thing in the morning meant that getting me to sleep was easy. Waking me up would take effort. Though being wheeled into a strange location without my glasses wearing next to nothing for the sole purpose of being cut up was extremely unnerving.

Good to see you Lily. I hope you are doing well.

?!

What surgery did you have? Damn man.

That sucks. Though I understand ish. I had gallbladder removed on Jan 2017 after pains for three years and not knowing what it was, ugh.

I'm doing good!

- Moving to Georgia in July. I got a job there
- Jon and I are getting married in less than one month! (June 13th)

Hi, Lily!
RPGs both Japanese & Western, are my preferred genre.

I can only imagine how bad gall stones for 3 years would be, but good that you had it taken care of.
Congrats on the engagement.

I'm glad the surgery went well and that it will soon be behind you.

It was nothing life-threatening, Lily. Just an infection that would not go away any other way. Had to be cut out. The swelling is going down slowly, and I am doing okay. Promise. On happier notes, I’m glad to hear that you are getting married. ^_^ I remember flirting with you when you thought you wouldn’t get a love in your life. Never have I been happier to see a person proven wrong. Good luck with GA, it’s too hot and muggy for my tastes.

Yoder – Yeah, it went as well as could be expected. Some lingering limitations on my person, but that is normal. I should be back up to 100% within a few weeks.

Gotta love RPG elements. Whether in a full game, or in things like God of War. Finished that the other day and it is truly magnificent. Loved every inch of the story and game. My only complaint is that the combat system has so many options that I never used. Bought them, just on principle, but really only used a handful of things. Now, if they will update with a New Game+ option, I will gladly play it again.

@Yoder: Yea... I didn't know what it was at first. Just now and then I would get pains but I didn't think of it. Of course, over time, it got worse. Sad thing is, I have been to UC (urgent care) many times and they told me nothing was wrong. Finally, it was severe enough I went to ER... they found out what was wrong. Once it was removed, my doctor even was surprised on the damage it had been doing for three iffin years... it was not fun. Sadly, I got an infection after the surgery. I'm still mad at the anesthesiologist for not listening to me about my bad reaction to annestiology medicine but whatever. It's done.

And thank you smile

@Magni: Um. Infection CAN BE LIFE THREATENING. D< BUt anyways, I'm glad it's going better. Yep! I really thought I wouldn't find anyone to love me. But Jon.. he treats me like a queen. Spoils me, makes me laugh, makes me pout, we have so much laughter. Every now and then we do hit a snag (just one of us having an off day or getting bad news) But laughter is still more common than bad news. I try to do the same for him, treat him like a King but he always say "I'm happy when you're happy" But dammit! I want to know how to make him happy outside of bed and me being happy xD

As for GA, it wasn't our first choice. I applied for a job in Oregon and got second place.. I was seriously bummed for awhile. So Jon and I sat down and looked at deaf schools where I want to work and then look at cities of said deaf school or how far is the closest city. Jon graduated from college in GA where we will be living, and he believes with connections, he could get more clients that way (He's a massage therapist) and I got the job in one of GA deaf school so off we go. I visited the town and it is BEAUTIFUL. Remember how much I love nature? Well, this town is perfect combination of nature and city/town. It's perfect. I can't wait to get out of Columbia SC. I'm miserable here (and so is Jon)

It was a progressive and persistent infection in an intimate area. It did not respond to medication and had to be removed. again, non-life threatening, and taken care of. I am healing nicely.

I'm glad that Jon treats you well. I always knew you deserved it. As for making him happy, there was never any doubt that you could make him happy in bed, and out of bed just comes with learning more and more of him. I'm sure you will be fine. It sounds like GA works well for you . . . though I will be glad when we move. We are planning to leave this area in 5 years. we will sell virtually all we have, and go across the country to Oregon or Washington and start over.

@Lily: Infection & reaction on top of the original extended condition... at least it's over with!

@Magni: Glad to hear you enjoyed the new GoW; it's been getting solid review scores.

Good to hear your family planning for the future; I know you need a fresh start, and hopefully this can be it.

Yeah, between the in-laws being asshats, and just general malaise we are so effing done with this area. Neither me nor the wife want to be here anymore. The caveat being we are waiting till both our kids are out of high school. They can come with us, or start a new life for themselves. Either way, we are planning on leaving in about five years.

Full disclosure, we are planning a few stops before we leave this half of the country. One of them is you. I would really like to shake your hand and buy you a coffee/beverage of choice. We've been friends for so long, it would be a joy and a pleasure to just be able to say hello in person- even if only once.

That's a great idea! Jon and I will test GA waters. If we love it, we may stay there permanently. If not, we'll work our way towards Oregon or Washington or Colorado again.

Yea, here's the reason why I love that place where we visited in Rome, GA

1. they are more deaf aware. Here in columbia, I have to FIGHT to get interpreters. I have to FIGHT to have people read the phone. And I had SO Many people get aggressive with me because they were behind him and I didn't even know it. I know of an interpreting agency here in columbia, and they are still constantly FIGHTING for deaf people rights. It's like SC doesn't give a s**t.

2. Nature... omg. Here in columbia, there's barely any natures. Sure we got some nice big acre 'forest' and what not. I was nature deprived so I decided to go there cause I heard of nice things. apparently you have to PAY to park there each time to walk on the trails which means government give nooooo s**t about their land/nature to give them money that the National parks have to ask people to pay for parking and use that money towards the land. The ********. Back to almost number one. I have no friends here. Jon has no friends here. People are closed minded, rude, horrible, aggressive and just... ugh. When we visited Rome, there's still some closed minded people but it's more open than columbia

4. White coat syndrome. oh. my. ********. G. Arkansas had a bit. Colorado almost had none. Here? It's. every. where. so jon and I couldn't get the medical stuff we need :c (he needs to have a surgery ASAP but the white coat syndrome here is so bad, we decided to wait till we move)

5. SC is one of the four states that consider Confederate Day as a state government holiday. WTF. (AL, MS, TX, and SC)

6. I'm sure you know but I am ENERGY sensitive to my surroundings. Here? I'm poisoned. My health plummeted, my mentality plummeted. If Jon wasn't around because his energy is healthy and pure, I would've been sick to bed every single damn day.

I hope your kids end up somewhat close by.

That would be great; I definitely want to me IRL at some point, so that would be a perfect opportunity. My job has yet to send me to PA, but I'll let you know if that ever happens.

TotalBiscuit passed away yesterday. I wasn't a fan, but the man was certainly a dedicated and earnest voice in games journalism.

@Lily:
#1: Living in CT, where ASD was founded, I sometimes forget other places in the country aren't as deaf-aware as CT is.
#5: To be fair, there were multiple reasons for the American Civil War (though mainstream culture likes do flanderize them into only the the bad reason), and wanting to honor family members who risked their lives for any cause is understandable.
