It's a metroidvania platformer, so it's about 10 hours if you're not going for 100%. Even if addictive, not for too long. xp

Metroidvania is a great genre . . . particularly if done well. I think the last one that really impressed me was Dusk: An Elysian Tale. That was nothing short of a masterwork, especially since it was done by just one guy.

Iconoclasts was, similarly, a 1-man show. He excels in making engaging boss fights, overall emulating the style of GunStar Heroes. There's still plenty of platforming & puzzling (moreso as the game progresses).
I have Dust but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

Dust is a bit formulaic in the story aspect but actually has some good bits in there. Also has some very fluid animations and fun gameplay using the Metroidvania format. It really is fantastic. Almost enough to make me get back on playstation plus again. I have the game, but it was free through the service. As long as I am not on it, the game is locked.

In that vein, Hollow Knight looks very tempting, though talk of its difficulty has kept me away thus far. Also heard a lot of good things about Axiom Verge, though that's a much more direct Metroid homage.

Yeah, I find it's hard to keep up multiple hobbies as well; for as much as I enjoy video games, I don't have the time or attention for them given my ever-more consuming anime habit.

Typically, this time of year I am gearing up for my annual allowance from the income tax. Unfortunately, it looks like that won't happen this year. I can choose my expenditures or a new laptop. Given how my system is operating anymore, I don't think that will be an option.

Sorry your hobby has to be sidelined for necessity. Those sporadic expenses (new clothing/appliance/device) can be pretty costly.
Last year my income tax was terrible (had to pay them a small amount), but it should be back to normal this year (getting my normal return).

My tax preparer (whom I've used for years) is bemoaning next year. The Obamacare penalty seems to have been removed, but on the other hand they are going to remove nearly all the deductions. People are going to get meager ones for 2018 . . . or so I am told.
It feels meager to whine, but I really look forward to this allowance every year. This year? Pff.
