And do you have any idea how long it was before Gion found you then? Serenity asked. Or where you were kept? Or who it was that found you?

Trying to learn as much as she could about him and his time in this world.

Err...

Daemon seemed to be a bit sheepishy about that.

Well... from my understanding, I was kept in some sort of bedroom.... by a healer... for most certainly over a century... no one knows how long I've been there. It was a rough guess by the queen and Gion when he asked about the healer.

Serenity got up and cleared the door of the snow cave, then returned to her position once again. Over a century, she mused. That's ... wow.

She couldn't think of anything more to say ... the idea of it stunned her.

Daemon answer to this in a wise way.

I must have been asleep for a very long time.

For it didn't not seem like over a century to him, but then again what did he know?

Indeed, Serenity agreed. She looked out the snow cave entrance. Getting dark, she noted. Do you know much Gion slept over the past few nights?

She wanted to see if she could get an idea of how long he was going to sleep, whether he was going to sleep the night through or not, or how long ...

He slept lightly but well while we were travelling in the desert, but the moment we hit all the snow well... he was in a tunnel like now, but he had to kick the snow out of the entrance himself, so he hasn't really gotten as well of a sleep since we got here.
Daemon admitted.

It's hard when you have no one else to share a shift with.

Then I'll let him sleep as long as he needs, Serenity decided. Then we can take turns until we reach the Borderlands. Better for both of us, I think.

She grinned inwardly. And that way you shouldn't get too bored either, you'll always have someone to talk with.

Daemon chuckled at that thought.

True, that would be nice, also with more sleep he will be able to travel farther, which in this weather would be a good thing.

As long as he eats properly, Serenity agreed. But yes, the faster he gets to the Borderlands, the better. And unless he picks up the pace - which I can help with - it's going to be another two weeks, at least.

Two weeks is far too long to be stuck out in weather like this, especially if you don't know if it's going to get better or worse.

He hadn't realized it was so far away, since Gion said he could make out the area.

That's why I'm going to be helping him along as much as I can, Serenity replied with an inner smile. Giving him a ride when he needs it, helping with food if he needs ... allowing him to rest properly. Whatever he needs.

Daemon chuckled at that.

Yes, with that he should be able to make it at a better pace.

And more safely, Serenity added cheerfully. And then I guess we'll see what happens then. It would be nice to stay there with him for a while, and it's always good to see Ulani and Ulrich again - but I just want to make sure that it's safe first.

After a moment, she added, I'm sure you understand.

Of course.

Daemon agreed, after all it would be no different than him letting himself suffer migraines if it meant he knew if his children were safe or not.

Serenity drifted into silence as night fell, and every once in a while she cleared the doorway of the snow that continued to pile up. Eventually she had to start digging upward, as the snow piled up everywhere else. The wind died down, but the snow continued.

Finally the sky began to lighten and the snow stopped.
