*Taking the last few packages from the bowl, Kalie left the stove to get a knife and colander, then drop the stainless steel bowl off in the sink. Using the knife she broke the container of fresh pasta open over the colander, before rinsing it off and scattering the penne across the sauce and chicken to simmer for a little bit longer.*

*Peering into the pan, Kalie lightly poked at the pasta, the tender noodles dipping then bouncing back under the pressure. Content that they were done, she turned the heat down to low, and sprinkled the top of the skillet with fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Then hopped up on the counter to wait for the top to become melted and gooey.*

*Smelling the aroma of food, Darz feels his stomach growl. Heaving a sigh, he thrusts forward, flapping his wings. The action gets him to the ground quickly, but undercontrol. He rolls his eyes as he twists the knob to the front door. He'd completely forgotten about food while he was here. Darz follows his nose down the hall and, eventually, to the door to the kitchen. Peering in, he notices that Kalie is making something.*
That smells good. How's Kargin doing?

*Still perched atop the counter, Kalie cast a glance to the pan, the contents there of basically done. All that was remaining was for her to find a few plates, and the silverware.*
"Have some, I'll find the plates.."
"He's de-"
*At the mention of Kargin, Kalie stopped mid sentence having almost deemed him dead, the sadness in her voice apparent. She had fallen back on the fate of what was both Kargin and Vis, it wouldn't be till a few minutes later that she would give him Torment's progress instead.*
"Vince is watching over him, he hadn't woken when I left."

*It takes Darz a few moments, but he understands Kalie's halting, mid-sentance, and going with a different explaination. It seems in a different mind-set. Heaving a sigh, he realizes that it is because of his own refusal to call "Torment" by that name. Gently smiling, Darz responds.*
I'm sorry. I refuse to use that traitor's name. He is Kargin, to me. Tarma killed "Torment" a long time ago, and he was reborn into the person we know now, resting and recooperating.
*Darz knows Kalie knows little, if anything, of the anguish caused less than a year ago when "Torment" first took hold a spell seed. No matter how he tried, that name always reminded Darz of the attempt on Tarma's life. Kargin, his "real" name, became that which he'd always use.*

*Lifting a small stack of plates from a nearby shelf, Kalie plated a pair, offering one to Darz and setting the other aside for herself. She would take one up to Vince later.*
*She smiled* "Dont worry about it, we both have our names for him. To each his own, and several more with Tor."
*Handing a fork to Darz, she lifted her eyes and moved back to lean on the counter. He had perked her curiosity with the vague description involving Tarma. A part of the jumbled pain, regrets, and death that made up Torment's past, she had never herd. Which came as a surprise to Kalie after all she had seen and experienced of the events that drove him. *
"What happened, before, that caused Tarma to kill him?"

It is...complicated...
*As well as being something Darz would rather not talk about, it is a subject he worries may distress Kalie. Taking a moment to fork some food and deliever it to his mouth, he looks to be in careful thought. As he chews, he, in fact, is. The truth of the matter is that this Darz, if one can even call this "persona" by that name, is concerened about the fact that Kalie may not be able to hear it, first, from Kargin. Shaking his head, his resolve is set. He swallows his first mouthful of food before begining his speech.*
It was some time ago, before I, officially, launched the Archangels of Gaia. Sure Tarma had seen the Archangel Tarma, even flown it, but this was the first time she got to fathom becoming an admiral to an entire fleet...
*Darz sighs before taking another mouthful, though small, and gulping it down. Torment was a friend...at least up until that point, and the actions he took...utterly surprised him. Darz! Surprised! Before he met Tarma...he'd not known such things.*
Before I met my beloved, I was completely consumed by...false tenants of Tiamat (note: not the D&D evil lesser diety!). Torment even called me the "Emotionless Wonder" at various points in our history of knowing each other, long superceeding when I...joined the Trench Coat Mafia.
*Does the tale have a point?! Darz knows that must be what Kalie is thinking. He knows he can get long-winded. It's part of his previous nature, having to express everything he felt leads up to the primary detail...as long as that road might be.*
I built the Archangel Tarma shortly after...Tarma released the bonds that told me that absolute control over emotions meant I wouldn't lose myself to the Chaos. At some point, we were approached by the Gaian Police Department with a rather large purchase. They wanted an Archangel-class ship. Torment delivered by using a spell seed to...duplicate the Archangel Tarma. However...instead of producing one copy, there were two. The Archangel Protectorate and Archangel Maleficence. The three ships...attained a personality, thanks to the NIBs, or Neurally Interfaced Brains, that controlled them. The Archangel Tarma became exactly like me, True Neutral. The Archangel Protectorate became the very embodiment of Lawful Good. The Archangel Maleficence became the embodiment of Chaotic Evil.
*Darz smirks in Kalie's direction as he takes another moment to take a bit and let her absorb what he's said. He's about to reveal much more to the point of what her original question. Then again, to him, this is all part of her question. It's funny...the three ships obey only Darz and Tarma as if they had (which they do) absolute authority over them, but each has a different and distinct personality.*

*Standing there at ease, Kalie blinked, the fork suspended in midair. So he had made something? She chuckled, mostly to herself. Kalie had seen the results of Torment concocting things before. Like the rings down the hall that had left him smoking and stumbling into walls that one morning. As endearing as the little pyro was, she sometimes had to wonder what prompted him to play with forces beyond the typical life form, especially when it left him smoldering.*
*As the story progressed, Kalie nodded while chewing. The Trench Coat she knew, rather fondly as her home away from the plains. It had been their first, together. But the long beginning was leading Kalie to wonder, what had gone wrong.. obviously something happened that shouldn't have.*
"What went wrong?"

*With a pause, Darz stares into Kalie's eyes as if testing her resolve. He knows she's experiance it. He knows it, just by looking. There's something there, even if she doesn't realize it, he can see it. It is as unmistakable as the sun rising.*
The Serpeant took him. Torment, slowly, went insane. His days becoming consumed for...a lost love that he couldn't save and would never see.
*Darz pauses for a minute, now realizing that he, probably, shouldn't have said that. It might worry Kalie. It might make her jealous. In anycase, it's out in the open, now. Sighing, he continues.*
One night...he came down the stairs in a tiraid, speaking in a way of my relationship with Tarma that proved he was jealous. He wasn't jealous of me having her...nay...he was jealous of what we had...and still have. While still in a rampage, he stalked up to Tarma's room and...let lose and explossion that rocked the mansion.
*Darz clenches the fork he holds in his right hand, anger, obviously, beginning to get to him. With a calm face...frighteningly so, he looks Kalie in the eyes, once more. Through it all, it seems he'll test her resolve. Then again, he's too a point that there, really, is no turning back.*
He'd forgotten she wasn't there. He'd wanted to make my life as miserable as his. The Serpeant filled him with jealousy and rage, and, for that...I took my love...retreated to the safety of our newly launched fleet... Torment had made an island long before any of this happened. I used it as a launching platform for my fleet ships, when they first breached to the void of space. He used the facility I'd used in construction of the Archangel Tarma to create a massive attack platform. It brought the Gaian Police Department and the Archangels of Gaia together in a full-out, frontal assault upon... *smirk* Torment's Isle.
*Darz manages to calm down a bit...odd considering his relation of the story. He takes a couple bites of the food Kalie had made...before looking at the ceiling in careful thought and repose. Before he continues, he folds his wings so that they are more comfortable, in a resting position.*
We'd gathered a great number of forces, including Edymion and Tacitus. There were others worthy of mention, but they did the greatest amount of work. Edymion retrieved...Kargin's mother and Tacitus' wife for what was to come. Torment left Tarma a dagger and a message. He asked her to kill him. The Nusradai family was there to...revive Kargin, leaving the ash of Torment behind, after Tarma's task was done...a cruel task...
*Darz almost chuckles as he takes another bite. With a smirk, he looks at Kalie and rests his right elbow on his right leg.*
What went wrong; you ask? Torment didn't understant the powers he was attempting to control. He may, very well, have controlled them in the wrong way.

*Placing the partially eaten dinner on the counter, Kalie sighed heavily. The serpent wasn't gone, Torment had used embraced it recently to grant a favor at the cost of his strength. Her's*
*Keeping her gaze locked with Darz's, jealously was last emotion Kalie felt over a lost love. She had seen the grave before, watched as the dark crimson droplets fled his wrist at the urging of the bracelet that tormented him with the past. A past that he released for the survival of their love, but had it worked? The release in turn had spawned Soulscour, the first and second, then the last.. Mindblaze. Love had blossomed from the death that now left Torment vacant within his own body, but at what cost to him? Pain came swiftly, lacing even their sweetest moments in poison.*
*Poking at the pasta, Kalie felt oddly absent of an appetite. She didn't want the nourishment of food.. all she wanted was Torment's reassuring smile.*
"The serpent is still alive, in a way. The love he can't have? gone, but replaced. Their defeat, is the reason why he is now lying in a bed upstairs, unable to move."
*Shifting her stance, Kalie looked on curiously.*"So do you think it ended? at the isle, given everything around you?"
*Kalie truly didn't mean to be pessimistic, it was just difficult at times.*

The sound of the heating system coming on somewhere in the house was times with a light brush of heat across Kalie's body as if being embraced for only a mere second, nothing more. As quickly as it came it passed, followed with a brief chill. The oddest thing of all would be the fact that the house doesn't have a heating system. It controls its own internal temperature like a living body does with homeostasis.

Why do you think I am still here? There is no way Mindblaze was so easily defeated. I...however do believe he may have retreated. Wether he comes back to this place...torments you or Kargin again... That remains to be seen.
*Darz doesn't have the sound of pessimism in his voice nor the look of it in his eyes. Obviously, he either knows something that she does not. It's also quite obvious that he relates Kalie's question to the current situation. The event that culminated in Tarma's killing Torment was only one climax in a series of stories. It was a step upon the path of one's life. This is how Darz sees it. He notes Kalie's sudden loss of appetite before, almost literally, scarfing down the last bit of his own dinner. With a smirk, he decides to try to lighten the mood, which may well end up being haphazard, using his "role" in all this.*
Come now, Kalie. What kind of protector would I be if one of my stories caused a loss of appetite? One must eat to maintain strength, and one must maintain strength to heal another. Kargin needs you. As I said before, you are his shield and his sword...though...not in so many words.

*Gazing off in the direction of the adjoining hall and without saying a word Kalie nodded, lost in thought. To Darz she probably looked as though she had zone out, though she had herd him. She had just become momentarily distracted, but within seconds the soft rumble of her stomach would bring the half eaten plate of pasta back to her immediate attention before anything else. Shoving a fork full into her mouth, Kalie quickly chewed and filled a plate up for Vince.*
"I should go check on them, see if he twitched or something. You're welcome to come, if you'd like."
*Popping another fork full into her mouth, Kalie picked the plates and an extra fork up while waiting for Darz's decision.*
