"I'm leaving soon. I can't do this any longer, I have to go back to Chandrilla. But hey, when I do, I'm gonna ask that you succeed me as Lead..."
((okay, I have my story planned out))

Gendis blinked in surprise and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Why? I mean, I'm honored, but... what's wrong? Why can't you go on? And what's on Chandrilla?"

Kefka sighed.
"Five years ago I made a promise. A promise to never leave my girlfriend, a promise to never leave Chandrilla, a promise to never leave my safe zone. Three years ago, I broke that promise. Now, the Imps have Chandrilla, and only one transport made it through. I have to go, to Coruscant, see if she was one of the refugees. If not, I'll have to break the blockade, and make it to Chandrilla, and save her...it's not just her...my best friend died to save me...I have to.."

((Coruscant?))
Gendis sighed heavily. This was moving in a direction he always avoided, but he knew now was not the time to avoid such things.
"Kid. No, Kefka. Let's say you get to Chandrilla. You somehow pass the blockade, somehow find your girl on that planet, and somehow get back out. Where will you go then? Another planet? And what happens when the Imps take that one? Move again?"
He looked away. "You can fight, Kefka. You're not made to run, you're made to fight. You're not a bad pilot. You've seen those Ruby bastards, you're better than all of them combined. The best way to take care of your girl is to stay here and fight. To do your duty." His eyes glazed over a bit with moisture as he recalled distant memories. "Going out to find her in these circumstances could be the biggest mistake you ever make. Remember, it's not just her you have to worry about. /She/ has to worry about /you/ too."

"I've been running from fate for too long..I have to do this.."
Kefka got up and went off.

((Just to get me going and make sure I'm alive still. Excuse whatever i skipped over, I've hadn't time to check who posted what.))
Orrin finished up his breakfast, and put the tray away. Leia was now three hours late of her rendezvous, and Orrin believed that something did happen to her, and she wasn't going to come back. He was a pessimist, figuring that she was dead already, despite the hopes of the rumors ciruclating that she was delayed.
Orrin signed up for another flight at patrol, still angry at Kefka's immaturity. Taking the Y-wing back up for planetary reconnasaince, it was his only place of solidarity. His thoughts drifted through the squadron. Whatever happened to that calimarian? he dismissed the thought, as another perked into his head. Zendia... she reminded him of his duties to Amy, though in essence, the two looked nothing alike. Where one was easily past puberty, the other didn't even know the meaning of the word.
"Yea. A guy like me. Figures. I join the rebellion and I get a mid-thirties crisis."

Gendis watched Kefka go, sadly, and sighed again. "He'll do what he thinks is right. It would be great if he weren't so stupid about it. But I guess if you feel that way, it's hard to be smart about things." He leaned back in the booth and looked at Zendia, then her tray. He pointed to her dessert, "Hey... you gonna eat that?" His serious mood was gone just as quickly as it came.

Zendia snickered at Gendis, and broke off a piece of a small pastry for him. "Here you go," After a brief pause of silence, she then ventured "So, how are you?"

He took it and ate it thankfully. Then he shrugged in response and changed the subject. "How are /you?/"

"A bit tired," Zendia said with a sheepish yawn. She then looked to Gendis. "I wonder what's with Kefka. I'm worried about him," She shook her head. "He seemed a bit out of sorts last night, and I saw him slumped on the table this morning,"

He nodded. "He's a kid, that's whats with him. Thinks he's invincible, and that he's the only one who can do anything about anything." He caught her yawn and ywaned himself before continuing. "I just hope he comes back alive."

Zendia didn't stay drowsy for long. "What?!" She glared at Gendis. "What do you mean by 'comes back alive'?" She snarled under her breath. "Just where in the Nine Hells is he going?"

Gendis raised an eyebrow at the "nine hells," but responded. "He's off to Chandrilla, which was recently taken over by the empire. He's trying to be romantic, I guess, trying to see if his girlfriend is safe. I think, however, he's just being..." he trailed off.

Zendia then saw fit to finish Gendis's sentence for him. "Let's see ... pig-headed? Stubborn, perhaps? Or, maybe 'an idiot' comes to mind?" Of course, as she let the words out, her initial shock and anger at Kefka subsided, to be replaced by a sympathy. "I'm sorry," she immediately sighed at Gendis, turning away. "You see, I don't really have much room to talk." She then paused, and continued shortly after that. "You see ... I guess you could say that the reason I signed up is because of my father. On some level, a part of me wants to take one of those fancy X-wings, and look for him. Rusty told me that he likes their lines," she gently laughed for a brief moment, before taking on a serious tone again. "Still, as I may have told you before, I don't even know if he's still alive," she sadly told him before turning away.

Gendis would have come around the table to hug her tightly and tell her everything would be fine, but he couldn't. He was far too afraid of contact with a woman.
Instead, he muttered sympathetically, "That sucks." He wasn't about to tell her his story. He didn't know which he was more afraid of, reliving it, or being touched. So he avoided both altogether and pushed his tray towards her. "Want some of my bantha steak? They say it's from a bantha, but I'm not so sure." He offered a playful grin to help lighten the mood.
