Illya bit her lip. Had she just made things worse for Jericho? It seemed like she had. "If you need to go, you can," she said. She stood up. If Jericho didn't need her--if it wasn't too late...then she might just be going herself. "I'm going to go see what I can do to help them. Be safe, please, Jericho." And by help, I mean stop! With that, she went forward to Mink's party to hopefully talk some sense into them.nepsah I'm going to go back to my last post and change Illya's decision. Sorry in advance for the double quote!

 Joining Mink
Two undesirable decisions– two terrible potential outcomes. Either Astra was to sit here, waiting with a room stuffed full of other entrées– and with the ones that had been bitten getting sick and not feeling better with the help of the nurse, don't think she hadn't noticed– or she could scope out things closer to the entrance, look for a better bolthole... and risk being one of the first found by the monster-cannibals.
It took some other people starting to move to finally kick her into mobility, specifically noticing one young kumiho pushing a service animal out of his lap before starting to follow after one of the others movilizing.
"Wait. If you're going, I'm coming too," she said, picking herself up out of her corner.

Stay Behind
The bunker full of people had felt claustrophobic at first, but given time to relax it had become quite cozy.
That is, until the horrible noise began. With his nerves already worn thin, Hana's imagination ran wild. To the kirin it sounded like nothing so much as the scraping and clawing of hundreds of rats. Or thousands of beetles.
Obviously, the only safe thing to do was stay put. Able-bodied adults had had injured people and freshlings to look after.

Liam felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders and found his lips stretching into a smile. "I'd feel better having someone along," he admitted. As they began to make their way towards the door the spectrefox followed. Liam thought about it, but decided not to try shooing him away. Another set of ears and instinct, and a formidable set of fangs. Plus he wasn't sure what he could do to make the spectrefox stay behind, short of shutting it away as they went out. If he was asked to leave him behind though, Liam might do that. He really didn't want to think of the spectrefox getting hurt... A voice spoke up, making Liam pause to look back. "Wait. If you're going, I'm coming too,"A young-looking hybrid was standing up, looking at them. Liam was still working on recognizing various race markers, but the ears, tail, and tendrils gave him some hints. He knew from experience that Imps were usually short, as were Geists. It was just their voice that made him think they were as young as they looked. Liam looked over to Hiroshi questioningly. To be honest he'd rather not have kids anywhere out of the room and investigating potential lethal danger. It wasn't his call to make though, especially if the Academy staff didn't say anything. If youngsters were going out to investigate, it was probably better to keep them close so they didn't find themselves in danger. Well, more danger than they would already be in, anyway. "What do you think," he asked, not wanting to blindly accept for both of them. Hiroshi might well object, after all.

Staying behindSathe watched the small freshling wander off before turning his attention to other things, picking up on the strange noises coming from outside the bunker. It seemed like someone of authority was going to investigate, against the recommendation of another person of authority, and some others were volunteering to join them in the investigation. He mulled this over for a moment, trying to determine his next course of action. Sure, if he joined up with the group heading out, he might be able to lend his strength to protecting them if something happened. At the same time however, that would leave those sheltered down here with one less able-bodied person to defend them if something happened. With his decision made, he made sure there was nothing of immediate concern that he could assist with, before going back to holding up one of the walls and generally looking like a punk.

Joining Mink Eventually, as the hush fell over the bunker and it seemed calm had come with the words of others and helpful paws of familiars, Yaruka managed to calm herself from delving further into a panic attack. She had found a wall to lean against and focus on her breathing until she could feel sensation in her legs returning. Thank goodness; now was not the time to start crumbling. The noise put her on high alert, though, as well as others. Seeing Mink wanted to go check things out, others wanted to join as well. It seemed even some who were injured were willing to ignore their own discomforts for the sake of others....and with that, her mind was set. The fallen joined the growing throng of people who were willing to join Mink in investigating. There were a lot of younger kids here as well....and their safety trumped the need for her own.

Enomu watched the dryad at first as if they were mad, but when they started creating a hiding place for him, he couldn't help but respond and stepped over to watch. This new space seemed much better than what he'd done himself, he had to admit. It helped him feel calmer again, though he continued to sniffle quite a bit.
"Thank you." He managed at last, for it was important to be polite. "I hope you don't get eaten." Well, his intentions were good at least. Would it be good enough to thwart the people eaters though? This he wasn't so sure of. Maybe it would make more sense to hide Shiroi in the spot that had been cleared for him to curl up in and hide somewhere else instead. Except....there wasn't anywhere else to hide, was there? Still, he hesitated, unsure what the right decision was. What would trick the evil so it didn't eat him, even though he believed he deserved to be eaten?

Hiroshi felt the blood drain from his face when he heard the voice claiming that they wanted to go along. How long had the child been listening to the two of them talk? Had she heard everything they were talking about? Though they had done their best to be quiet so they didn't disturb the children, it didn't make him feel any better with the junior voicing her thoughts directly at them. He flashed Liam an uncertain look before glancing at the girl, trying to figure out what to say.
Truth be told, he had no authority to tell the girl no. If she wanted to come then he knew there was precisely no way to convince her not to. Though, it definitely made things more complicated if both him and Liam had to worry about protecting her. However, as he glanced around his stomach sank more to realize she wasn't the only child signing up to take a look.
He drew in a breath. He didn't know how to sound authoritative, he had spent the majority of his life letting people be who they were, but this situation had much worse implications if something went wrong. "If you're coming, make sure you listen to Mink and us. If we tell you to do something, make sure you do it. We don't want you getting hurt." Rather the girl listened to him was completely up to her, regardless, he was going to do what he could to make sure she was safe, even if she didn't accept it. He was definitely glad that Liam was coming along, it'd make it a little easier to try to make sure she was safe.

Staying BackMounia had immediately jumped up to her feet, ready to join the investigation party. She started to move toward the group when she felt the little flitterrat scramble up her arm onto her neck. It made slight squeaking noises and then slid into her hoodie, as if hiding. She frowned and put her hand into her hoodie, pulling the creature out. It was shaking. Frowning, she looked at it directly in the eyes. "Are you trying to say you don't want to go?" She asked quizzically.
The creature squeaked again, shimmying its body back into her clothing to hide. She frowned, not wanting to scare her new friend to death. Though, she felt at a loss since this is exactly the place she felt she should go. Drawing in a sigh, she turned back around and sat back on the chair she was originally occupying. "We won't go then. I don't want to upset you." She made a slightly forced smile, gently stroking the familiar.Quote: Mounia is free for interaction!

Joining MinkThe bunker was getting stuffy, and admittedly the situation had the hybrid rather curious. Stepping toward the group that was to set out to investigate, Tomorrow quickly looked over the others that were joining.
She wondered whether the attackers had reached the Academy grounds already.

Mink opened the door slowly, her body tense and ready for combat. When the door opens, a small, black wave rushed by Mink's feet, trembling into a still. It's a small cluster of frightened flitterats! Those poor things!
Everyone who approached the door with Mink can PM Yushika one color palette! They will receive a flitterat!

A child is missing, and no one is sure how they could have missed them! Annabelle even swears she just saw the child, yet when they began counting the heads of freshlings the number always came short, and one name didn't respond when called for.
The child had slipped out at the last second.
Annabelle is the first to leap up, instantly moving to the door. Ava made a move, hand extending to try and stop her.
"You can't." "I have to."
The grimm stared down at her headmaster, mouth tight despite the fact her ears were pressed tightly against her skull. Ava shifted, eyes flicking from the children to the door.
"I'll come." She started, making a move towards Annabelle. The grimm shook her head, hands nervously raising.
"No, the kids need you. You're one of the strongest magic users here. What if something happens?" Annabelle countered, leaving the usually calm headmaster in a silence. The demon turned back to her students, then towards Annabelle before she hesitatingly nodded.
"Alright." Ava finally relented.
What to Do: Annabelle is about to head out to find the child. However, what good would just one person searching such a massive school do? Maybe she could use some help...
If your junior or senior wishes to help, please post an RP response where your character offers to lend help. On Jan 22nd, a new thread will be made for the search party to begin looking for the child.

I'm gonna help! For--!!! Several minutes of swearing ensued under Kunibert's breath as a flood of flitterrats poured over his feet. He wasn't sure whether to be relieved or pissed the hell off. He scooped up a brightly colored flitterrat that had crawled up his leg. "I don't have many places to put you," he growled. "So you'll go into my backpack und you'll like it." He stormed back to the main area, plopped his backpack on the ground, and stuffed the rat in one of the outer pouches. He liked flitterrats--they were cute! But he hated being startled, and he hated tension turning into something silly like...well, flitterrats!
Not that he begrudged a new pet...or the fact that no danger had come to them when they'd opened that door.
Ugh.
While he was fuming, a drama was unfolding in the center of the room. Ava, Mink, and Annabelle were all arguing over who was going to go looking for some child that had gotten loose. With adrenaline still pumping through his veins, Kuni slung his backpack back on his back and stepped forward. "I'll help you out, Annabelle," he said. For the second time this evening, he was helping her out with something. His old confidence must be returning. "Ve need to find zis child." The little brat!

I'm gonna help! Illya was...not the happiest person at the moment.
Mink had risked their lives opening that door, and she didn't doubt that the opening of the door for some lost pets (that wouldn't get hurt anyway--X and his freaks only ate Nightmares and Daydreams, they probably wouldn't hurt some small animals that could hide in crevices during the danger!) had let the child loose.
Probably looking for those rats.
She didn't let any of this show, though, beyond her wings being puffed out to their utmost righteous fluff. She stepped forward, then snapped her heels together. Her combat boots made a comforting, hard sound in the still air. "I'll go with you, too, Annabelle," she said. "I've got plenty of magical experience. I can help." Her voice was calm and deliberate, her back ramrod straight. She was totally and completely ready for anything, and totally and completely unaware that a flitterrat had crawled up her back and was perched on top of her white hair, twitching its nose at the action all around it.

I'm gonna help! "If you're coming, make sure you listen to Mink and us. If we tell you to do something, make sure you do it. We don't want you getting hurt."
She didn't hesitate. "As long as the requests are reasonable and oriented towards keeping the most people from getting hurt, and not some misguided aim to keep me fine at everyone else's expense," Astra returned, striding forwards. Before she'd had a chance to say anything else, though, Mink opened the door, and dozens of flitter rats poured out, squeaking and scrambling.
Astra stayed still, staring at the obviously distressed animals. Was it the fear that the population was putting off, or was it those cannibals that had them in a tizzy? She paused, moving to pet her hand over the head of the rat who had attached itself so resolutely to her shirt. "Well, that was anticlimactic."
At the gathering sound of a commotion, though– an argument between the headmistress and one of the teachers– Astra turned, listening intently.
Well, that would be... a great deal more risky, but a child was missing. She... she had a very sensitive little flitter to help alert her to any potential threats now, didn't she?
Besides, the fish that survived tended to be the ones outside of the school when the hunt commenced. And who knew? Maybe those bite victims were some sort of magical homing beacon.
