Losing to the wolf was a little depressing. But Aurian forced herself to soldier onwards. She'd found two animals, surely there were more out there. It was just a matter of perseverance. And time. And luck, which she had precious little of on a good day.
Her search turned up nothing. Aurian wondered how far she was from the class site now. How far were they allowed to wander? How long would it take to walk across the island? ... Maybe Aurian didn't want to know about that last one. As long as she stayed in the forest, it would be fine, she figured. If she reached the edge, she'd just turn back and try another direction.

The wolf overpowered Lacie's fear attack, jumping, snarling, and lunging towards her. Lacie stumbled sideways to avoid his attack. It skidded, catching its foothold to turn back around at her.
Lacie wasn't yet deterred. It only held a slight advantage over the reaper. Not a significant one. She could still win over it.
Lacie: 0

The wolf's tail slunk between its legs, reluctantly giving in as Lacie strengthened the lasso around its neck. She won. "I'm sorry to have to do this to you." She apologized. Aurian clearly had a talent. Maybe she should rent herself out as some kind of bodyguard to people who didn't want to be attacked by animals or monsters.

... The universe responded as the universe does: with unholy humour. The goat reappeared in Aurian's path. She screamed and fled.

Had she lost the goat? Aurian thought that she was going to have a new breed of nightmares after this...
Aurian leaned against a small mossy boulder, hoping to catch her breath. Instead, the boulder shifted under her. It roared as Aurian fell to the forest floor. She stared up at the small dragon who had taken exception to being used as a seat.
"Uh, hi? Want to be my mount?" she tried. Her smile trembled.

Scrambling back to her feet, Aurian faced down the dragon. Its tail lashed angrily. Aurian clenched her fists and stared determinedly at it. This would be a nice mount, she decided. Maybe she could feed that stupid goat to it, get some revenge for her poor coat.
But first, to try and tame it.
Aurian summoned up a large amount of FEAR. She held it steady, letting a killing intent radiate out towards the dragon. It seemed to be overpowering the dragon's resistance!

She was doing well. Aurian tried not to let it go to her head. This was the critical part, whether or not she could keep it up and earn the respect of the beast. Aurian locked eyes with the dragon and continued to pull in FEAR from around her. She felt larger than her own skin. Her gathered FEAR seemed too large for her body, like it overflowed and made an aura that spilled and spiked around her. Abruptly she felt the raised FEAR of the dragon drop. The rumble in its throat died, tail lowering to rest on the ground. It looked at Aurian placidly. Grinning, Aurian released the FEAR she had gathered. She'd done it! She had a mount! The dragon snorted as she approached, but made no move to attack or flee. She pet its neck gently, then led it off for some training. This seemed like an interesting sort of task . . . Aksaja nodded to himself as he headed out into the forest, keeping his senses alert for any movement. Nothing, nothing and more nothing. He seemed to be going in circles as well, spotting the same trees and so on multiple times. The lightning dragon frowned. It was so much easier to navigate from the air. Or at least when there weren't quite so many trees.
Sighing, he finally just plopped down on an odd-looking rock (that he was pretty sure he'd passed by twice already). Then it moved. What the . . . ?! Jumping up, Aksaja looked back down and saw a head poking out from under the rock. A tortoise? Hmn, well at least he knew where one animal was. But he'd sort of prefer something a bit. Faster, maybe. He decided to keep looking for a little while longer.

After patting the tortoise on its shell for a moment, the lightning dragon kept on searching. It didn't take very long this time before he heard a noise from somewhere nearby. The dragon froze then, eyes darting about. It took him a few minutes to spot it, but when he did, he blinked a few times and took a step back. He wasn't quite sure he wanted to ride this thing either. But then again . . . it could be fast, with all of those legs.
Hmn. Well, all right then. "Come on out, you," Aksaja mumbled, holding a hand out toward the tarantula under the tree.

The tarantula didn't move at first and Aksaja glanced around for a moment. What did big spiders even eat? Smaller bugs? Mice? Or . . . Jack, did it really matter. "I'll find some food for you if you . . . " he started to say, when the thing suddenly lunged at him. "Ah!" the lightning dragon yelped, jumping back. Looked like it wanted a fight.

That first attack caught him more or less by surprise, but Aksaja leaned back and grabbed the front legs of the spider, moving with it to throw it away from him a little ways. Then he clenched fists at his sides and stared the thing down, trying to reach for his Fear to subdue it. At that, the spider made sort of clacking sound and actually backed away. Aksaja grinned at that. Yes . . . "You're mine," he murmured, moving slowly toward the creature again.Marushii MOUNT GET! Character Name: Aksaja Mount Acquired: Tarantula
