Elijah leaned over to hear him as the other boy leaned in and his curious expression changed quickly to one of delight and appreciation. "I haven't eaten yet...but don't let me intrude on your food, Rui," he answered him, not trying to appear pushy around the other. Though he was hungry, he declined, though the thought made his mouth water. "Well, on second thought...maybe just a little." He shrugged, still grinning rather childishly. "Thank you RuiZhi."
The smile alone on his new found friends face caused one to appear on his own. It sparked a youthful vigor in the boy and gave his heart the little boost it needed to get through the day.

RuiZhi grinned up at Elijah, happily digging through his bag until he produced the items he was looking for with a small cry of triumph; nuts and fruits, a canteen, a roll of crackers and a bag of chips. He carefully put the items out between himself and his friend as though it were some type of picnic, finding some solace in the simple things. "Here we go," he proclaimed with satisfaction, "I have some water too if you want. Oh!" He started to dig in the bag again, pulling out some Corn Nuts, raisins and cheese wrapped in foil. He pointed to the Corn Nuts and raisins, explaining, "They're all I could find at the mall that seemed travel ready. I hope you like them."
"Thank you, Professor," Herei said graciously, his eyebrows slightly raised over his mirthful expression. He knew Dante wasn't the type to just hand out compliments, and to be called wise by an elf at all was something of an honor in and of itself. The man folded his hands into his lap, squinting up at the sun. "I suppose we will wait, wont we." He refrained from sighing, instead turning his smile onto the man next to him. "It seems our illustrious leader is too busy feeling sorry for himself to give us a path to follow."
His eyes flickered as he thought about something, turning figures over in his head. "The boys should have a decent chance of survival out there, without predators and natives to hinder their progress. But--" he mentally added the woman into the equation "--I think we can safely give them one more day before we take action. There's only so much ground to cover before they should be free of the forest, in which case they would come to us or return to the shelter." The percentages turned over in his mind, moving pieces around his mental chess board, "I believe they would try to find us first. We will give them the time, and then we will act, assuming our leader decides to continue feeling bad for himself."
Herei was not one to pull the punches. Lives were at stake, and this was no time to let emotions get in the way. The sentimentality the doctor was displaying was very unusual, and the Advisor would not forget it.

Sable decided sitting around and making dirt piles was rather boring. Rylenn and Weiyuan were still being...whatever it was the were, so their company was out of the question. RuiZhi didn't seem too busy though. The lab tech stood, brushing off his pants and started walking over in RuiZhi's general direction. Why was it he was much more comfortable with the students rather than the other adults? Actually, it was like he didn't even exist to the other adults. Not that he minded. He'd much rather be out of the way.
"Hey...RuiZhi," he greeted quietly, scrambling mentally for the other boy's name. They had been introduced briefly. "...Elijah." It was Elijah, wasn't it? He was pretty sure it was Elijah... Well, he'd find out soon enough if he was wrong. "What's up...?" he mumbled, not having much else to say. Maybe he should talk about the weather...

"Sable!" RuiZhi chirruped gleefully, motioning for the older man to sit with them. "You're just in time for lunch! Would you like to join us?" He smiled brightly at the man, shifting so that he was sitting cross legged. It looked awfully silly beneath his robe, but the boy couldn't help his attire and his habits clashing at the moment. "Do you mind, Elijah?" he inquired to the blue-eyed boy, not wanting to be rude to either.
While he waited on a response, he dug into his bag again, producing banana chips and jerky, as well as what looked like pudding and packaged pastries. "Phew! I sure packed more than I realized! Guess that's good if we're all here, huh?" He'd keep the truth of the matter to himself, as right now he just wanted to enjoy himself with his new friends.

Lunch? Lunch sounded absolutely wonderful! He'd more or less skipped breakfast, even if was just an offer of coffee. It was probably better than nothing, in retrospect. He looked over to RuiZhi's friend, offering him a friendly smile. He didn't really want to be intruding, if he wasn't wanted. That's why he left Rylenn and Weiyuan alone, after all. "I'd love to join you," he responded, glancing back at the Chinese boy, smiling. "But only if your friend doesn't mind, that is." Must be polite.
He quieted, watching RuiZhi produce random foods out of his backpack. Wow. He was a little surprised the bag hadn't been mauled by wild animals, or something. He'd been told food gets stolen by wild animals on camping trips, and this was something similar, right? Well, they were much better off without said wild animals. "...maybe you should ration it?" he suggested quietly.

Farlest winced in sympathy, "Yeah...it needs to be wrapped, if you sprain a wrist then it shouldn't be left to support itself." He knew that much, having accumulated various injuries of his own in the past for different reasons...sprains and even breaks among them.
Shedding his coat, Far dug in his pocket a moment and came up with a miniature sewing kit. There were advantages to having been the 'mother' to one's brothers for years, it meant he'd acquired certain odd habits. Finding what he wanted, the miniature pair of scissors, he took a moment and snipped the beginning of a tear into the heavy material of his jacket...that was enough...now he could rip it into strips using just his hands, something that the coat was too sturdy to do to beforehand.
"Here..." he held out a hand, "Let me see your wrist...this is probably gonna hurt a bit, " Far apologized in advance, "but m'afraid it's the best I can do in a pinch.

Ka nodded at that, biting his lip a bit. He'd ... sort of figured as much. He watched Farlest curiously, wondering what he was ... oh ... well. That should work. Somehow, he felt a little bit bad that Far was tearing up his jacket for this, though.
Slowly, he moved his arm, extending that wrist over toward the other. Eyes lidded for a moment and he took a breath. "It's ok ... "

Farlest wouldn't have cared, he was doing this for a friend, someone he sincerely cared about...felt for, empathy kicking in in all the potency that it held...and his jacket was the least he could sacrifice. Besides, it was still wearable, it would just be considerably shorter.
Taking that strip, he gently straightened Ka's wrist, and began to wrap the injured limb...taking his time, a studious, concentrated expression on his androgynous features.
Finally he looped it over Ka's palm between thumb and forefinger, and pulling a pin from his sewing kit, he secured it at the back of the other boy's hand. "There, that should hold for a good while...not too tight is it?"

Ka tried to keep the sounds of pain to a minimum as Farlest wrapped it up ... biting his lip nearly hard enough to draw blood a couple of times. He knew it had to be done though ...
But when he did look up, his eyes were a bit wet, the tears from before threatening to return. "It's fine ... I think ..." he replied, pulling his wrist back in closer to himself, cradling it a bit. "Thanks, Far ..." he said then, quietly, and glanced around.
"Now what..?"

Farlest wrapped an arm around the other's shoulders in a quick little hug, a sort of apology for having to cause his friend any pain at all. He didn't like to hurt others, even if in the end it would help them. "No trouble, I'm sorry I don't have something for the pain too."
Slipping slowly to his feet, he offered his hand to pull the other up. "Well...we'd better start walking again...and if we get back to the temple.." Far made a face, "As much as I hate to say it, it's a landmark...and we should probably rest a bit. I'm beat, and I'm sure you are, and it would probably help speed the healing of your wrist along."
He pulled a smile onto his face, just for the other, an encouragement. They could do this...

"Hmm ... like anyone expected people to get hurt out here," Ka murmured, as a sort of acceptance of that apology. He rather doubted any of the others had anything either.
Then he made a bit of a face as he started to reach up with the hurt hand ... and put it back down, grabbing Far's hand with the other hand and using the help to pull himself up. The sad part was ... they were all too likely to end up back at that temple in any case - as it had happened far too often in the past hours.
Mm ... and yes ... some rest sounded really good right about now ...
Once up, Ka returned that smile and kept his grip on the other's hand, starting off in a random direction. Here, creepy temple ... come find us ...

RuiZhi cast Sable an appreciative glance; the man was sharper than he let on. The boy nodded once, smile still in place, "It's okay. I think we all know what we need." He didn't think anyone here would eat until full, certainly not stuffed to the brim; even though he was hungry, the thought of too much food made him queasy in the given situation. There was still so much worry boiling in him, it was all he could do to keep it from showing.
"I know I'm not the only one who brought food, so don't worry." RuiZhi opened the baggie with the banana chips, eating one thoughtfully. After swallowing, he added, "If anyone is really hungry, I'd suggest the jerky. She...my sister eats it religiously when travelling." The boy chuckled a little, hoping she'd brought enough with her for the unexpected detour in their trip here.

Dante nodded to Herei. "That seems to be the only thing we can do. I'll give him a half-hour longer before I go waken him; I have a sneaking suspicion that Kenth is simply wallowing in self-loathing, and that will not get us out of this situation alive."
Dante noticed that Rui was breaking his fast and while he wasn't particularly hungry he felt tiny pangs beginning to form. He took one of the Elven crackers Irame had made before they came--things that provided strength and sustenance--and broke it in half, offering part to Herei.
Lina noticed as well what was happening--eating--and immediately her stomach clenched, while at the same time she had an overwhelming desire to eat Pocky. She wished she had brought more....

Herei nodded in agreement with Dante, chuckling to himself. It still struck him as odd to see the doctor so moody. To each their own, he supposed, as long as it didn't endanger anyone else. Unfortunately in Kenth's case, he was endangering more than the three lost people if he continued to take his time to be self-piteous, and the Advisor would definitely intervene.
The man glanced over as he saw Dante move, a little surprised at the offering from the elven man. "Thank you," he said with a gracious smile, accepting the cracker. He eyed it curiously, but not for too long; he took a careful and thoughtful bite, chewing with an appreciative, "Mmm." After he swallowed, he held up the rest of it, grinning, "Tastes good." And so he was quite content to sit and nibble on his cracker, blissful as though he were at a picnic.

The teen grinned as well, glad for the food and as Sable came up his smile grew. "Hi Sable," he chirped delightfully, "I don't mind at all. I'd love for you to join us." Though he didn't truly know the man, this was as good a time as ever to get to know him as well as the others there with them today. The food looked appetizing despite the fact it was simply a trail mix and a few other various foods. "Thanks again Rui, this is really nice of you," he added in, making sure to thank his friend not wanting any appreciation to go without being said. This was a rather friendly moment and one that should be enjoyed after all.
