So?
The point is to have a winner, not who the winner actually is.

I'm almost totally sure this was complained about thoroughly, but why does Lucas live in the delusion that his films were ever meant for younger children? I don't deny that they have an element that would certainly appeal to younger ages, but a lot of the time it feels artificially induced.
Greedo didn't shoot first. Han Solo was a b*****d before he came to work for the rebels, his whole charm was how he matured (especially after coming face to face with his past in the end of Episode 5 and the beginning of 6).

I think he got over it with RotS.
HE LET it get a PG-13.
Do you guys remember the AotC controversy? A lot of the ILM people were developing effects and CG and stuff for a really massive bloody battle with the clones.
After all the work was done, Lucas nixed it because it would earn him a PG-13 rating.

I think the only reason why he went with a pg-13 rating was simply because he realized that he couldn't write a good story with any punch without some compromises.

Too bad that even with the compromises, the story he wrote wasn't that good...

At least the action was semi-entertaining.
Save for the lightsaber duels, which were either too short or too long.
