When you go to the high school marching practices when in middle school and try to march along with them next to the S.T.E.P. field.
when, in the middle of language arts, you start writing music on staff paper you keep in all your folders
when your friends yell at you to stop humming and then you all start humming your parts in the song and finger the notes like you have your instrument there
when you research every song you are playing to find out the history of it and then report it to your friends who kindly tell you they had researched it the night they got it too.

Sakeyum You know you're a band geek: When you can understand the rivalry between Trumpets and Percussion as the leading section (and realize it IS the percussion).
You know you're a band nerd when all your friends who aren't in band know when you're humming/ singing a band song and are constantly getting after you for it.

ask to take lessons for a different instrument so you know how to play them all
take summer band lessons
thinking about becoming a bd

-you go to a really far away city to look for one mouthpiece brush that costs $3.15. (so guilty)
-you go to a music store to buy a mouthpiece for $80 when you can get one from your bd for free

You know you're a band geek when you've named your instrument.
All our pit instruments have names my favorite is Moe the Marimba.
You know you are a band geek when you are marching in time with the music playing over the loudspeaker in Walmart. ... oops.. but it's soo hard not to.

You know your a band geek when you keep the sign from Band Day that the BD tapped to your stand and also tape it to your door.

when you're watching tv, and a cartoon monster eats a cartoon saxophone player(i'm sorry about my spelling), and you call out "that poor saxophone!" refering to the cartoon instrument, not the cartoon person. (did it this morning)
when you can walk around with your sister huddling into your back all the way around the block, over steps, bumps in the sidewalk, and turning, without getting otu of step or stepped on, and hold a conversation while playing a game on a cellphone, by roll-stepping. (did it this afternoon)
when while you're reading a passage from a manga, you read "viola" instead of "voila" like it actually said, when you don't even have any string instruments other than guitars in your school band, and you're a brass player.

you know your a band geek when
-you're on summer vaca and forget the other 19 letters of the alphabet
-you would never play a school's instrument, yours is better
-you're late for school and forgot your instrument, so you drive home in your best friends car that's low on fuel, get the instrument and put $20 worth of fuel in the car as thanks then return to school in time for band class(did this one last year)
-you and your BD have break dance wars together
-you beg your BD to teach the band field marching tecniques(we only do parades)
-your BDs wife bakes you a birthday cake...
-you bribe basketball players to join band
-you correct your BD 3 times a day...
((i know more, but i'll save em))
