Yeah, but I'm talking mass produced weapons.
And with the Beam Tube, you reeally had to start somewhere.
Blasters needed an origin, so they were ray guns hooked to power packs.
Unlike the Lightfoil, a cheesy knock off of lightsabers only put in use by spoiled rich kids, the Beam tube had a purpose. It paved the way for modern blaster tech.
