I have three trumpets. Bach Bundy and Strad, and a random one that's really old.

hopeful_romantic Wow a Strad? isn't that a bit dark sounding? I thought that that's usually the sound you're supposed to be going for. I know that even in marching band, we do exercises that are supposed to darken the bright sound.

I know that even in marching band, we do exercises that are supposed to darken the bright sound. Yeah, it gives off a really nice sound. I march with the Bundy, though, so I do longtones all the time to make sure I get a good sound. I personally like the sound silver trumpets have better than I like the brass.

Ah well, I dont blame you for not taking your Strad out on the field. Marching band can do funny things to a trumpet. I march with my Yamaha, and it has so many dents in it, and the leadpipe was stepped on. So now the mouthpiece goes in it crooked, and I have to hold my trumpet sideways so that the sound still projects forward. XD

I accidently stepped on my Bundy while teaching everyone to march ^_^; the bell net to the left, so I had to bend it back to the right. The sound isn't affected...but now it looks even uglier than it used to!

I use my King during practice during marching season. I use my Bach during concert season and when we perform for UIL and contests in marching band.

soloft I've got a Bach Stradivarius and a King. What size mouthpieces do y'all use? I got 7C and a 3C a couple weeks ago, to get away from the 5B a little. The 3C feels so much better since it's brand new, compared to my three-years-old 5B. xDD

Also makes the sound less whiny, a little more dark and full sound.

soloft My schools' band is playing Star Wars this year for our Marching show. What are y'alls schools playing? Star Wars, eh? We play Vader's theme in the stands, but I think I'm going to work on convincing my director to let us play a medley of songs from the movies. Anyhoo, the show we're working on now is classic rock. We're doing 25 or 6 to 4, Carry on My Wayward Son (a trumpet feature. w00t!), and tomorrow we start the drill for Pinball Wizard.
