By some sheer luck - or determined kicking - Fini escaped the creature.
And resumed attempting to get to the surface.

And it was back. Vashi cursed and snarled in her mind, encouraging her to move swiftly!
She did try. Really. But the creature scored a heavy blow against her head and things turned foggy as Vashi howled, her Fear shield breaking. As her body drifted back towards the surface, Vashi uttered several unsavory things about fish and scaly creatures.

Maybe this would help her get over her fears. She'd totally forgotten about her swimming problem when fighting; guess distractions were the key.
