Hopefully, she would find something worth frightening soon, mm?
... Or not...
She had to admit, she didn't like the jungle. Where was the beauty? This was harsh and there were too many trees. They were probably obscuring what she needed to actually find from her on purpose, Jackdamnit.

She was getting rather tired of this, she admitted. Could she just give up and go home?
... No.
She couldn't disappoint. Even if she preferred the Conquest Isles.
This time, she came upon a small river, deciding to lean over and take a look in. If anything, she could take a drink of water. No one would stop her-- Jackdamn, that was a dragon! Time to puff herself up a bit! She would get this mount this time...

This time, she needed to do a much better job of intimidating the dragon. Maybe she had been thinking of it too much like her power. A shield of armor, right. A shield of Fear armor. ... That made no sense.

Ha! That seemed to work! The dragon cowed back, showing some amount of submission, though it didn't quite seem to be ready to become her mount yet. Very well. She would just become more intimidating!

Aurian's eyes slowly grew wider and wider as Radha and Faiza explained the day's activity. Mounts? Not horses, according to the instructors, but still. Actual mounted combat (or so Aurian assumed was the eventual goal, given the introductory speech to yesterday's class). That... would be interesting. Not to mention, Aurian was very curious about what sort of 'mounts' the island had to offer.
She stumbled backwards when Radha and Faiza demonstrated summoning and holding FEAR. They could handle a lot more than the students could, that was for sure. It would be fun to try, though. Perhaps a little disconcerting, suddenly feeling everyone preparing for battle around her with no actual enemy to fight, but Aurian would have to cope.
The instructions for the day seemed to be. Aurian trailed after the other students as they all split off and began searching for mounts. Now, where to look first...?
Maybe following after others wasn't a good idea. Aurian didn't find anything that could be used to ride.

This time Aurian picked a random direction away from everyone else and began walking. She made sure to check up high and down low. Behind rocks and trees. Who knew what could be hiding and where.
"Eyes peeled," she told herself.
She blocked out whatever the other students were doing. There were some truly strange noises reaching her ears, but Aurian couldn't concern herself with that now. She needed to find her own mount before worrying about those of others.
Something pulled on her coat, causing Aurian to stumble. She turned and pulled on her goat it one movement. The hem tore, leaving a small piece of black fabric in the mouth of a mountain goat.
Aurian stared. The goat stared back, chewing its snack. Aurian wondered if this was meant to be a mount. It made another move for her coat and Aurian stepped backward. Maybe... she should keep looking. She wanted something that wasn't going to eat all her clothes.

Julian returned with a small grin on his face, his wolf walking obediently at his side. It had taken a while for him to understand that he needed to be firm with her, even dominating otherwise she'd challenge his directions. And it took some time for them to get used to one another, but they had managed the instructions Radha had given them.

Aurian broke into a run to get away from the goat. Thankfully, it was distracted by a clump of flowers, stopping to taste this new food.
When she could no longer see the animal, Aurian slowed back. She sighed as she inspected her coat. At least the bottom was already torn (artfully, mind you!), so the eaten patch didn't stand out too badly.
Shaking her head, Aurian went back to searching for something more suitable.

This could take a while, Aurian realised. Whatever else there was on this island that could be used as a mount, they weren't eager to reveal themselves. They were wild animals, she told herself. Of course they preferred to hide. Aurian wasn't giving up, though!
... Still, there was a whole lot of nothing going on out here. Aurian hoped she could find and tame a mount before class ended today. Failure was never an option.

The search continued. Aurian rather wished she'd thought to tuck some food or drink into her belts this morning. It might have served as bait for an animal of some kind... plus she was getting kind of hungry herself.
Aurian stopped to rest for a moment against a tree. At least there was plenty of shade, being in a forest and all.

Was there perhaps a limited number of animals on the island, Aurian thought to herself. Maybe her classmates had already caught all the mounts that were available. Though that seemed alittle silly for a class, then, to give them a task that not all of them could complete. No, Aurian must be doing something wrong. The animals were out there. Somewhere.
... She hoped.
"Maaaa," something agreed.
Aurian turned slowly. An expression of horror passed across her face. It was following her! That stupid goat!
Aurian broke into a run.

No goats. No matter what the universe seemed to be hinting, Aurian was determined to find something that wouldn't treat her like a walking buffet.
When she'd lost the goat once again, Aurian bent her attention to her search. She had to think positively. She would find something else to use for a mount out here.
A mournful howl split the air. Aurian perked up. She put some speed, jogging in the direction the cry had come from. It took some time, but eventually she found herself facing down a large wolf.
She wondered if perhaps she should hold out for something else... but considering the odds of finding anything out here (and it being that goat more often than not), Aurian thought that maybe it was time to at least try to capture something.

Alright, now what had Radha and Faiza said? Aurian frowned lightly as she thought back. Ah yes, summon and hold FEAR. Do not use; do not release too early.
Aurian settled herself into a comfortable stance. Her red eyes locked with the burning gold of the wolf. Slowly, she began to draw in FEAR.
Aurian: 0
Wolf: 2
She must have done something wrong. The wolf snarled and bared its teeth. Then it turned and fled into the forest.
Aurian sighed. Back to the hunt.

Lacie didn't want to think of how many times she had failed. She had found many animals.. and equally lost the number of fear battles. She had lost to a tortoise, wolf, dragon.. and encountered one too many goats. She had one of the worst track records. And Lacie was pretty positive that it was the worst. She wasn't cut out for this fear intimidation.
Walking dejectedly, she heard the howling of a wolf in a distance. Unlike the other times, she didn't actively seek it out. But eventually, she and the wolf arrived at the same place.

With a wide sweep of her hand, Lacie slowly controlled her fear. After all of her other times, she was slowly learning the tricks. Gauging it carefully, as not to alarm the creature, the wolf retreated.
"Not yet." Lacie told herself, her golden eyes meeting squarely with the wolf's.
