"You seemed to get along enough with her and my foot hurts really really bad." Mala answered with a pout. "At this rate, the first thing we'll need to do once we live this hellish place is to find a proper healer."

"So you admit then that your healing skills suck?" Van said somewhat mockingly. "How we're going to survive this trip at this rate is beyond me. Hell, how you've managed to survive this trip, on that foot, is beyond me."

"When did you ever hear me deny that my healing skills are crap?" Mala asked with a raised eyebrow. "Even if it pisses me off to say this, I'm surprised that either of us have survived as well. I'm only good for blessings and barriers while you're a shadow-stalking trouble-bound kleptomaniac."
Milly looked back and forth between Van and Mala before exclaiming, "Don't fight! You two should get along!" with slightly teary eyes.

"Milly, this isn't fighting. This is banter. There's a difference. If we were fighting, you'd know." Van said looking back down at Milly, unfazed by the words being thrown around before calmly looking back at Mala. "I'll have you know I take that as a compliment. And like I said, the kleptomania comes with the territory."

"I wouldn't doubt it." Mala replied dully. "Onto more important matters, how are we going to get this boat to work? Should we hire one of the local fishermen to help us in our grand escape?"

"You've got a point there." Mala said with a slight frown. She tried to follor after Van, leaning against the crates as she only 'walked' with her good foot.
Milly walked up to Mala's side. She asked, "Shouldn't you rest your foot instead of walking around? When I had my momma, she told me that when your foot is brokeded that you shouldn't walk on it or it'll break more."

After leaving the boat, Van stopped at the entrance to the shipyard, put his hands on his hips and looked around. The real question wasn't so much of how to find a crew as it was how to convince them to help. He later found out that the thought of leaving Jaquel's watch, combined with a surprisingly potent pair of puppy dog eyes for Riley's age were enough to gather up a small group of willing men.

Mala was able to convince Milly to go inside of the ship once more and to take a nap until Van returned.
