"I'll behave!" Miyuki exclaimed.

She clung to her mother's legs, knowing that for now they would have to part. Even if she didn't want it to be like that.

"We'll see you in a while," Lin smiled softly as she said this.

In a really bizarre way, it was like when the father went off to work. Not that Lin would know seeing as her parents worked together.

Earendil smiled and stood up again, then hugged Lin with one arm. "See you in a bit," he murmured. "Stay safe."

He pressed a quick kiss to her forehead, then gave her another quick smile and headed towards the door.

Breakfast was a calm affair, at least as calm as it could be with Miyuki hurrying to eat and then bouncing all over the place because she really, really wanted to see her ada.

Lin though, made Miyuki wait for no other reason than the fact Miyuki would probably be underfoot if they didn't arrive until most of the loading was done.

With most of the loading done, it meant that Miyuki could spend time with Earendil and not be completely underfoot. So by the time they were ready to board Miyuki was not dying of boredom. Instead she was itching to board the ship that would take them to the Zephyr.

When Miyuki and Lin showed up, they were just loading the last of the cargo. The work had begun about halfway through the night so that they could make as much progress as possible that day.

"Ah, there you are," Earendil beamed as Lin and Miyuki showed up with Kaito trailing them. "Perfect timing! Celeb is just loading the last crate, so once everyone is on board we'll be setting sail."

"Come on, hurry up!" Amalirahc urged them, running up from behind Earendil. His golden eyes were bright with excitement. "Hurry up so we can go! You're almost late, you slowpokes!"

"Amalirahc," Leyenda called from the ship's deck, "watch what you say!"

"But I want to leave!" the boy called back.

Earendil chuckled. "Well, they're not slow, and they're not late. So be kind."

"Yup. Sorry!" Amalirahc grinned at Miyuki and Lin. "But come on, hurry now, okay?"

And without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel and ran towards the ship.

For some reason Lin couldn't imagine that much energy being on a ship. She watched Amalirahc zoom away, and shook her head chuckling.

"You'd think it was his first time on, he's so excited."

Miyuki found Amalirahc so energetic (more than she on a good day) that she was too dumbfounded by him to even be insulted. Instead she left her mother's side and ran after Amalirahc.

"I'm not slow!"

Well, not completely insulted anyways.

Leyenda laughed and waved for Lin and Earendil and the others to come aboard as well. "I think he's just excitable, and he really loves ships and journeys."

Amalirahc giggled and ran across the gangplank and onto the ship, where he did a little twirl and threw his hands in the air. "And IIIII'm the winner!" he announced, as if it had been a race. "Come on, Miyuki! Let's go and I can show you the rest of the ship too!"

She probably would have tackled him if he hadn't offered to show her around the rest of the ship. Interest in the ship though over took her need to tackle him.

"Okay!" she agreed, she could live with that.

Lin just had to shake her head at the whole thing as she took Earendil's hand before making her way on board.

"I've sort of gotten that impression," she chuckled.

While Amalirahc disappeared into the interior of the ship with Miyuki, the rest of the travelers boarded the ship after Lin and Earendil.

"It's very easy to read Amalirahc," Leyenda laughed as Lin and Earendil joined her on the ship. "You can see everything he's thinking as easily as reading the words on a page."

"Are you sure you aren't saying that just because you're his mother?" Lin asked.

She had begun to understand how mothers eventually gained that ability to understand their child. It came with raising said child after a long while.

Leyenda laughed. "He's too innocent," she grinned at Lin. "He's never had any reason to hide anything he's felt, so he has no idea how. It has never entered his mind to tell an untruth, or to hide something that he's done, even bad things. He's just such a good boy. And that makes it easy for anyone to read him, even complete strangers."

Sure, as his mother, there were some nuances that she saw better than others could, but other than that, her boy was just plain open.

Lin chuckled, though to be honest she thought that went well with all children. Children were innocent... at least to her that seemed to be the case.

"He's sweet, I think Miyuki is a bit caught off guard to find someone that excitable, but this is good for her."

To know someone who she is not related to.

"I can only wonder, how long are they going to be about the same age?" Leyenda mused. "Though I suppose, if Miyuki grows, she would probably be closer to Amalirahc's size, if nothing else."

She knew that Miyuki was a stage-grower, and she knew what that meant now. But she had a feeling that wouldn't change things - at least not too much - with Miyuki and her son.

"Everything is set," Kelirahc said, the last one aboard. "Leyenda, will you help me cast off?"

Leyenda nodded. "We'll talk to you two again later once we're on our way," she grinned at Lin and Earendil: and then she headed off.

Lin waved as she had this thoughtful look on her face. This was actually true, while some stage growers like Toshiro would take years to reach their proper stage, Miyuki seemed to be growing at a rate that the family hadn't seen since probably Trisha was born.

It was a very good question, especially since growths didn't seem to have rhyme or reason to them. It was easy for her, with the time difference it always seemed like she was behind or right on time depending on who it was.

"You know..." Lin murmured to Earendil, "Now that Leyenda mentions it, with us always being together more often. You are going to see more or less how fast we can grow. Before, with the time different it always seemed like I took forever to grow."

Earendil looked down at Lin, puzzled. "What do you mean?" he asked her, putting one arm around her shoulders and beginning to walk around the deck with her. "I know from my perspective it seemed like you were taking forever to grow, but that's because in your world, time passed so much more slowly. I mean, I could age ten years and for you it would have been what, a month?"

"Yes, but it's one thing to know and one thing to see," Lin replied looking up at him, "To see how fast she'll grow, and honestly I don't think we've had anyone who has grown as fast as Miyuki in a long while. I mean, yes we were all fast growing children, but others like Trisha or Triton. They grew very fast... I took maybe... four... five years. Triton was a year old by the time he met Elnara as an adult."

Of course the other difference was, was the amount of stages.

"Granted, Triton had I heard... one less stage than the rest of us... and Miyuki. Who knows. For all I know maybe she'll be done once she has nine tails."
