Ok so I am considering dropping salamanders flat and redoing Ultramarines. Mainly because the more I look at it the more I realize I still love my Smerfs.
HQ Calgar -250
Librarian Epistolary -150 points
TROOPS Tactical Squad (10) Flamer Missile Launcher -170 Points
Tactical Squad (10) Flamer Missile Launcher -170 Points
Tactical Squad (10) Flamer Missile Launcher -170 Points
Scouts (5) Sniper Rifles (5) -75 Points
ELITE Sternguard (10) -275 Points
FAST ATTACK Land Speeder Squadron (3) Multi-Melta Multi-Melta -240 Points
-1500 Points-
So the plan is to split into combat squads (cept Sternguard) and move (flamer, 3 bolter, and Sgt) combat squads forward while rocket squads open fire.
Scouts provide sniper cover and Land Speeders are my fast anti-tank units.
Finally a Librarian with GOI and Nullzone will jump around with Sternguard and lend massive anti-infantry fire support where it is needed.
((Please tell me what you think. Specially you Cale... (your advice is usually pretty good).))

Hm...you'll do decently with that list. Has good numbers. That said, I would strongly suggest that you DO in fact split your sternguard into Combat Squads. With one squad hopping around, the other can be used to pressure key points and objectives along with your Tac Marines. Make sure that you spread your missile Tacs around so that they have plenty of line of sight. Calgar...well, make sure that you put him in the line of any inbound enemy assault units.

I'd consider dropping Calgar, maybe for Cassius, or maybe Sicarius. Although I've always had a soft spot for the Chapter Master, out of them though, I'd have to take Calgar, simply because he can wade through infantry with his power sword, and heavy infantry/tanks with his Power fists.
And not to forget his Orbital Bombardment.

And not to forget his Orbital Bombardment. I will not drop my Calgar from this list for 3 reasons: 1) I have the old school non-termi model and i love fielding it. 2) The ability to pass or fail all morale checks as i choose is a tactical thought considered heavily, and since i am using combat squads, there will be lots of morale checks when marines start dieing. 3) He fits the 1500 point list, if i dropped him now then it would throw the list off and half my strategy. (ok so the first isnt that good but its perfect in my eyes!)

Nah, I once fielded my old school termie chaplain (Only reaches the current termies neck.) just because he looked awesome.
And yeah, I forgot the morale ability, I see now. Sicarius could give one of your tactical squads Infiltrate, or Tank Hunter though, that means that your flamer combat squad, and Missile launcher squad could pop up behind the enemy, it basically two different places, since they have been split up into combat squads, yet are still a Tactical Squad.

He has some good abilities but it only works on one squad and thats pretty gay.

True, but I've seen one squad of Tactical Marines make all the difference. Dicing Abadon with a Plasma Cannon, Plasma gun rapid firing, then the sergeants plasma pistol...
