"Ah...He's...gone then, I presume?" Megan dropped her eyes down her place. "I'm sorry."

"Mm, yeah. An angel in Heaven. Mum sees him often. I'm not allowed to go to Heaven yet, but I really want to meet him," he sighed softly. After a moment of chewing on his lower lip, he let out a breath, forcing a smile. "But! Onto happier subjects."

Megan nodded, taking another bite of her bread, and another sip of her drink. "Sounds like you live a complicated life..." She smiled slightly, then shook her head. "Happier indeed."

Makoto took another large bite of his lasagna, sighing happily. "Complicated, but surprisingly calm. How about yours?"

"Boring. I live with my brother and sister, we were triplets, and my older sister. We were adopted after she was. There's no magic, there's no mystery. It's just us." Megan shrugged.

"Triplets! That's really awesome," Makoto said with a smile. "We have a lot of twins in the family, but no triplets as far as I know. Sometimes a simple life sounds so nice..."

Megan smiled as she took another bite. "It's funny, really. My other sister in the triplet set looks like me. Our brother looks way different though. In terms of face. We all have white hair." She twirled a finger around a curl, then let it spring back.

"What an interesting quirk. White hair," he mused, smiling as he tore another bite out of his garlic bread.

"Magic is kind of redundant to me now. Everyone in my family has it, except those who abuse it and have it taken away," Makoto mumbled. He frowned slightly, taking the last few bites of his lasagna.

Megan tilted her head. "Really? Huh...Sounds messy." She took a sip of water before finishing off her spaghetti as well.

"Not so much messy as tiring. But luckily I don't have to worry about anything but myself. I hardly use my powers, which makes mum proud. She tends to be more practical, too," Makoto spoke, pushing his plate away.

Makoto sighed as well, staying silent for a long moment. The waiter came and gave him the bill, to which he bowed his head in thanks. Grasping it off the table, he finally spoke. "Seems things have turned slightly awkward... I apologize."

"Hard to find things to say about things I don't understand. It's fine." Megan waved her hand in the air dismissively.
