Emily turned and her jaw nearly dropped when she saw Keith walk by without a shirt. She literally had to slap herself to get back on track. Her cheeks were a deep shade of red and she spun around or a few seconds to exhale. Thankfully, Emilys' attention was diverted to Nanina getting dropped into the water, that caused Emily to burst into gales of laughter. She soon followed along with the fun and dipped her feet into the water, allowing herself to adjust first.

Roman smiled faintly as he watched Kelly lick the baby, stimulating the foal to get up. Instead, it just sat there, seeming to think about it. Roman chuckled. "Doesn't have its father's disposition, I hope," he said lightly. "Can you tell what sex it is?" He wasn't at a great angle to see, and he was curious despite himself.
Phoenix, almost right on cue, stuck his head out of the stall door and snorted. It looked almost like he was angling to get a look at the foal he had helped to create, which made Roman laugh a little. Then he looked back. The baby was struggling up on its wobbly legs. It was one of the most adorable things he'd ever seen, and he felt lucky to be able to share it with someone else.
A thought occurred to him that made him smirk. Ez would hate that she'd missed this. Well, he'd tell her about it.
His gaze darted to Kahlilia. "It's amazing, isn't it?" he said quietly.

"I would imagine so - your face pretty much gave it all away." Xavier smiled at her and noticed Lady was shifting from foot to foot impatiently. He had noticed she was blushing and felt a little confused, but let it go pretty quickly. Everyone was having fun, and so was he.
Xavier smiled and laughed as he watched Chris and Nanina, then Emily and Keith as they rode over. "Hiya." He had called to them when they arrived, but otherwise just watched them.
Lady was quickly becoming even more impatient and Xavier looked over at Summer. "I should probably let this gal run around a little... shes unusually hyper. Its wierd... Uh, do you want to come with me?"
Kahlilia smiled and stifled giggles as Kelly tried to coax the foal to stand - which it did not at first. When the foal actually was able to get up, she giggled again and visible tears of joy sprung into her green eyes. "Its so amazing... I can't even believe it."
Kahlilia tilted her head. "Hmmm... can't tell from here either." She tilted her head a few times, taking on the impression of a curious owl. Finally, she blushed and shrugged her shoulders.
"Phoenix, do you want to see your baby?" Kahlilia said, laughing, when she heard the stallion snort and saw his long nose. Benvolio had woke from his nap, and since he was in the stall next to Kelly, he gave the new mother a few friendly snorts.

Keith was grinning, both satisfied that Nanina had been dumped into the water. The sound of laughter to the side brought his attention around to Emily, and he smiled. Keith walked over to a large oak tree that hung partially over the water, and he climbed up into it. Walking carefully along a branch, he reached up and grasped a long rope from another branch above his head. Looking down at the deepest part of the river, Keith ran forward, swinging through the air before letting the rope go dropping.

Roman smiled softly to himself. Walking around so that he could get a look, he announced finally, "I think it's a girl. It's sort of hard to tell, though - it's not standing in a good place." Smiling over at Kahlilia, he asked, "What do you want to call it? If Shannon doesn't have a name for it already, maybe we could help her choose one."
Phoenix had his head stretched as far as it could go, looking across at the other stall where Kelly and her baby stood. "I think he really does want to see his foal," Roman mused. "How strange."

"Yeah, probably." Kahlilia replied, nodding. The foal was beautiful - almost fully black, but with white 'boots' like her mother, who was nudging the newborn gently to get up.
"I say we name her Ariel." Yes, it was a girly name. Yes, it referred directly to the Disney movie. But it was a unisex name, and it was beautiful - just like the foal. She smiled at Roman, well, beamed. She was just about glowing, even. She felt so lucky to have shared this wonderful opportunity with him, and couldn't wait until Shannon returned so they could tell her the news.
"Should we let Phoenix see?" Kahlilia asked Roman, sounding curious. She wasn't sure how the new father would react when he saw his child, because she wasn't sure how father stallions reacted in general. "He seems really curious!" She stifled another small giggle.

Roman smiled a little, too. "I like Ariel," he said, looking down at the filly as she finally got to her feet. "It kind of suits her." It felt incredibly right, incredibly special to have been able to watch this. And he would get to spend the whole summer watching Ariel grow.
Glancing over at Phoenix, he thought for a minute and then shook his head. "I don't think so - not right now. I mean, he can see in a bit, but Ariel needs to have some time to bond with her mother first, I think. When she's a little steadier, maybe he can see," he said. Grinning at Phoenix, he said, "Sorry, boy. Let your baby get acquainted with her mom first."

Emily covered her face and giggled when water splashed her from Keiths impact. She sighed and took off her shirt since she had a tanktop on underneath and walked into the water. Once she hit a certain point, Emily dove under and popped back up a few feet away grinning.

"Sure it would give Shadow a chance to stretch her legs as well," Summer said still blushing slightly.
Chris fell head first into the water with Nanina still in his arms. He came up coughing and laughing the made a grab at Nanina, "So I guess were even."

"Yeah, it does." Kahlilia said quietly, smiling even more as Ariel took a few wobbly steps, aided by her mother of course. It would be so wonderful, being able to watch this little filly grow and knowing all the while that they had helped her into the world - well, kind of at least.
Kahlilia giggled a little at Phoenix's unfaltering curiousity. She remembered how tired Benvolio and Phoenix had been, and now both of them were trying to see the newborn. It was like they were completely re-energized, which made her giggle a little more at the thought.
Kahlilia heard a small noise she hadn't heard before, and looked in at Kelly's stall. Ariel had curled up next to her mother by now, and both looked ready to fall asleep. She was pretty sure the noise was the sound of Ariel vocalizing in some way to her mother. She walked a little ways away from the stall, to allow the two to rest if they so desired to.
Xavier smiled at Summer and nodded. "Okay, lets go then!"
Lady began to trot quickly towards what looked like a field in the distance, evantually gaining speed as she had done during the race. It was strange, knowing the mare seemed to be so mild-mannered and well, lady like - but once she had reached the fields she became the opposite. The lamb and the tiger - could they coexist in one body? Maybe it would depend.
Xavier looked back at Summer and chuckled a little, gesturing a little with one hand for her and Shadow to follow with a small, very low chuckle. Overall, his voice was very low, deep even. However, it could easily become very loud, so it was not completely unaudible. At the moment, he was muttering to himself, maybe Lady, in very unintelligible Spanish.

Summer nudged Shadow who was already following Lady of her own accord. Summer just let her have her head and galloped after them. She saw then hand and heard the chuckle and smiled. She pushed Shadow until she was riding side by side with Xavier, "So X were we going?" she asked.

"Good question," Xavier replied. "It probably depends on where the horses feel like going - where do you want to go?"
The land was huge, bigger than Xavier had ever imagined it to be. There were so many places to go, how could one pinpoint a single patch?
Lady continued to pick up speed, until she was almost at a full canter.

Phoenix's snort almost sounded annoyed, which amused Roman to no end. At least he could find some humour, even in a situation this miraculous - and serious. Ariel's birth had been a fascinating thing to witness, but all the same, a little levity was needed now. It was good to know that Phoenix was always available to add it.
Catching up to Kahlilia and falling into step with her, he asked amiably, "Do you want to wander out to the fields for a while? We could visit the other horses, let Ariel and Kelly get some rest without us hovering over them like nervous mother hens."

Shadow matched her speed with Lady's easily keeping up with Xavier's horse. "I don't really know where to go I think we should just let the horses choose without giving them and direction and see where they go," she said.
