Valthier paused as the shorter male crossed his path, blocking him. he looked down at him curiously, and slightly annoyed, and recognized something about him. he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"excuse me, who are you, and what busines have you to block my path? i've no time for thieves, surveys or scoundrels, so if you would be so kind, i would like to get back to what i was doing. i'm a very busy man."

Ironclaw made no verbal reply but produced a small metal crest bearing the emblem of Xukuth d'Roesor, the short lived assassins guild run by the late Reivan Quel'Aran. On the back was a simple note, "We held allegiance with the defenders of the city, we still hold honor to that vow." it was a straigthforward message from a fallen house. Giving a slight bow The mercenary slipped back into the chaos of the coup d'etat, wondering how soon he would join the battles once again.

the Symbol and the note on it's back caused Val to pause. his eyes flashed wider momentarily and subtly softened again, and he felt a chill in his spine that surpassed even the chill of his undeath. it seemed as though his albino skin attained some small hint of colour.

huffing once, and checking his path warily, he continued on to House Druu'Giir.

((continued in Qu'ellar Druu'Giir.))

Irrafay squatted on top of her barrel, let the whispers fill her ears. Rumors abouts mercenary groups, caravans coming in, and even news on new trade was drowned out by the rumors of return of the Lord of the City.
"I wonder where he went. It odd that he just disappear like that." Said one voice.

"Well...I heard that he was busy eating his children, like one of those spiders." The replier nodded and looked satisfied with the delivery.

"No way!"

"Really!?"

"Yup, supposedly he was getting worried about their growing power, seeing as they're demons and..."

Irrafay let that conversation slip away. And tried to pick up something useful.

"...His army will stop the chaos of the past few cycles," said a stern voice.

"But...but I heard that the army is...well a demon army. I'm not sure about you, but I would rather the new forces then a set of demons on my street corner." A soft voice said.

"Demons only trust demons, you know." Said a tired voice.

She glanced over to the group, who were all nodding in silence and then changed subject to other rumors of the Ilharn Val'atar. Irrafay couldn't believe any of this, she didn't dare believe some of the claims.

In the end, she close off her ears.
Ilharn Druu'giir is clear important and fearful enough to cause all normal talk to die off.She leaned her head back against the wall behind the her barrel perch. And with the coming celebration, it will only get harder. Hopeful, Valdear took advantage of the distraction of the people and got some good items.

Irrafay shifted the items of the booth around. The job was small and paid nearly nothing, but its better then nothing. The vendor owner cut her a look of distrust, when she noted what Irrafay was doing.
"Careful, girl."Her voice was raspy and creaked every other sentence. "Your not to damage or steal nothing. Got it!"

She nodded. And slowly allowed her arm to retreat. Then she looked out over the crowd.

"Come here for the freshest meal." The owner rasped. Waving a stick of a baked mushroom around. "It will hold you up, all cycle."

Irrafay didn't speak. Her job was to stand clothed in a skirt with slits so long long, she barely count it as a skirt. Along with a sleeve-less top that stop mid-chest, a cloth collar, and arm sleeves. The outfit matched the red paint of the vendor chart, though the hem was embroidered with the golden design of the Merchant House the vendor served.

This is degrading, her eyes narrowed to slits as she watched a few raiders come up for food. They were leering at her. Thankfully, I still have my blade on me.

I need to focus. I need the job for the money and the news. So focus on the benefits. With an inner shake of her head, she called out in a sugar voice to a passerby, "Come here, Ush'akal. Have a meal to nourish you."

"Your stay be the stand," Irrafay tried her hardest not to flinch as the vendor owner pinch her next tightly. "I'll be watching you. Always watching."

Her raspy voice was an annoyance, but the callous and rough feel of her hand was too much. "I understand. I won't take anything." She shifted out of the touch.

"Good, good."The owner just eyed her as she back away toward the fire. Irrafay could see the grill over the flame and the waiting mushrooms. The alleyway that held the makeshift kitchen was filling with smoke. The sound of the raspy voice, recalled her attention to the now muttering owner.

Crazy, that what she is, Irrafay tried to ease the pain in her neck. "Come here for the freshest meal." She elegantly waved the food around.
Several people came by and bought stuff. Then a cloaked figure came up. For one uncomfortable moment, Irrafay was unsure. And then a voice muttered softly , "I'm happy to see you found such a healthy job."

Valdear pushed the hood off, a mischievous grin lighting his face. Irrafay simply shook her head, "you want some food, sir?"

And then mouthed, "Get out of here. We can talk later." Valdear gave the slightest nod and pretend to buy a baked mushroom. With that done, he pulled back up his hood and disappeared into the crowd.

Life in the city was fierce at times, ruthless and held not the least bit of pity for those who fell along the way on the rush for power. So it was every turning of the great wheel that delineated time in the city, so it would be forever.

On this day it was no different, not even when Ilharn Druu'giir strode the streets of the city. His scaled, clawed footsteps drew him along the caverns and tunnels from the direction of his estate into the market district. At first few seemed to take notice of him, but the deeper he went into the marketplace, the more those he passed became aware of his presence. By the time he was nearly halfway across the cavern that housed the vendors stalls and marketplace buildings, the crowd had begun to part before him. Whispers trailed him like a wake of hissing foam follows a ship. He pretended to pay no attention to them, but his fierce crimson eyes took in everything, each sound, scent and movement was caught, noted and then dismissed.

As he passed the stalls of some food vendors, he turns and catches the sight of what he thought was a familiar hooded figure. Veering from his direct course, he approaches a food seller, passing the cloaked figure. As he nears the figure, he realizes it wasn't Zarud after all, but just another young drow male, most likely a thief or cut-purse. Chuckling, he pauses to watch the youth pass by, then swivels his head back towards the comely drowess that stood in the direction the figure had just come from.

Curious now, Val'atar slips over to the stall and steps up to the female, looking her over in the casual way a caravan master might inspect a riding lizard he intended to purchase. Slowly, a wicked smirk crept upon his lips, thou it never reached his cold, calculating eyes. Deftly his mind pierces hers and attempts to browse her surface thoughts. Leaning in, he sniffs the food before reaching out to seize a variety of the offered delights. Slipping a clawed ebony hand into his dark battle tunic, he withdraws several gold pieces, then tosses them to the feet of the female before turning to wade back into the crowd, eating as he strode away.

Without a backwards glance he moved off into the crowd and faded from sight after a few minutes as they drew shut behind him, rumors and whispers filling the air. However, just before he was out of sight, a single thought filled the mind of the drowess. *We will meet again*

Irrafay watched as her brother shifted off to move into the crowd. Once he was out of sight, she set her self to the task of trying to put out the remaining food. All the while she was thinking off the rumors, possible jobs, and her brother.

A shiver passed over her as she leaned to get wooden half filled with the special spiced mushrooms. Crunch time was coming.
Standing, she nearly lost hold of the crate. Noble! Her panicked mind informed her.

She couldn't move for a second, her skin felt like something light was crawling over it, and she could feel her hair start to curl and stand up. This could only be caused by someone with great magical power.

Her mind roar with all the rumors and gossip she had heard. Who else seems to be a column of energy and magic. Control yourself, your of some noble parentage. Surely you can handle this.

But just as she had eased herself enough to speak, he took a spiced mushroom, throw an amount of gold at her feet and then move off into the crowd.

Pause, then her mind shout. What, in the abyss was that!? Clenched and unclenched her hands, knowing she should pick up the coin. She knew she had no choose. But, She shook her head and quickly pick up the coins. Swiftly she put most of them in her pouch on her hip, while two went into money holder. *We will meet again*

The thought drifted through her head, she bit her lip. And then she stiffly, put stuff up. Thinking was clear something you tried to avoid; when Ilhar Val'atar is about. Her hand shook, excited by the thought, but quite frightened of the possibilities.

"A...as..as you can see Jalil Cressd'ulnen this place has been out of use for awhile. This...could...is because of the chaos from before, but don't worry now...no...thanks that the Lord of the Ci...City return this place...wi...will be busy." The owner stammered as Irrafay venture further into the dust covered room.

Fire holders, stone tables, even the bar area appeared to be fully intact. The space is wide enough, and with proper light...yes, but, Irrafay turned to the owner who was meekly following. "What about the upstairs?"

The old male seemed to curl inwards, the aura that Irrafay was rather intimidating thanks to the pact she had made. Irrafay ignored it, though she acknowledged it was useful.

"Th..the door is through the kitchen...its in a hallway. There are many hid...hidden do..ways in the hallway." Irrafay was off heading towards back space of the bar and through the kitchen, and up the upstairs. She could hear the frighten male scurry after her.

She passed several doors, and then a hall which probably lead towards more and the end at a large set of double doors. The room was perfect. "You will show me what this entire place has hidden, from the top to the bottom. And when I take this place. I want to come back," She leaned in and glared."And find the place entirely cleaned."
The man could merely nodded his throat closed, his eyes wide.

it wasn't long before the crowd and bustle of the Market became an obstacle for Valthier, and he soon lost track of the Lord of the city. he growled, then sighed, and slumped against a rotten wooden bench, near some food stalls.

"it would seem i truely am at a loss... maybe i should just pay you now and give up." he said to Izzd. "otherwise i'd be wasting my money."

he actually had plenty of coin, but it was the principal of the matter. it seemed that the rogue was not very usefull anyway.

A deep breath of underground air, only sort freshed Irrafay. She leaned against the taverns outer wall.

People scurried past, some glance her way. Though she considered that it was the uniform of black trimmed with silver sleeve-less top and black skirt with dual slits that really caught their attention.

Its nice to relax. Even if its short, she thought noting the shadow moving toward her. The form merged with crowd and passed close enough to hand over a fold of paper.

Quickly, she stuffed the paper into the pouch on her side and then continued to lean against the wall, listening.

The brooch was beautiful. The elegant curves, the gold and red gems the twinkled in the settings called out to Irrafay.
She had been standing there for awhile, peering.

The vender owner was off trying to charm a woman from noble house to purchase a cheap looking cloak that he claimed would hold against the strongest Lolthite spells.

"Your interested in little bobbles?" The whisper came from over her shoulder.

Irrafay had sense the movement, but the eyes she meet indicated she should have taken notice of it sooner.
Red maniacal eyes peered back at her, but the face they were set in contrasted. A cunning smile, an elegant cut face. He was mischief in humanoid form.

"Trinkets do interest me a great deal, but...my interest lay in greater things." She turned her head back to the brooch and touched it with gentle hands.

A chuckle came from over her shoulder. "You are rather direct aren't you?"

Irrafay looked away noting that the noble woman was clearly trying to get the man's attention and then back at the unknown man. "Direct, isn't the only form of speech I know. But reason me this, why talk to little me. When they're are others?"

The body moved to be directly by her side, "Cause I'm interested, dear.My interest lead me too you. Is it a problem to you?"

Irrafay felt a slight unease, and then soothed it out. There was no reason why any house would know the deal she and her brother had with the Druu'giir. "Well, you'll just have spend your interest elsewhere."

She turned towards the vendor owner who had given up. She checked on her order of special table items and then turned to go. All the while carefully observing those strange eyes in till he was out of sight.

Valthier spotted the common-girl, and watched her little echange with the pervert. a sly smile curled on his face.

"well well, Izzd, it would seem a more suitable henchman has appeared. take your money, i'm moving on." he said, and payed the mercenary.

standing up flipping some hair behind his ear, the Albino Vampire Drow smoothed out the wrinkles of his clothes, and dusted himself off. then, he strode over to the girl.

he cleared his throat. "hello. my name is Valthier. would you be interested in payed service? you see, i am in need of information, one piece of which being the wherabouts of the lord of this city, Val'atar Druu'giir. i promise the coin will be handsome."

Irrafay had let herself relax in till she had sense somebody else. And then she heard him, "hello. my name is Valthier. would you be interested in payed service? you see, i am in need of information, one piece of which being the wherabouts of the lord of this city, Val'atar Druu'giir. i promise the coin will be handsome."
She slowly turned to look at him, with a raise of her eyebrow she took in the strange sight. Despite the pointy ear, he was clearly not natural, and he smell of something...She pushed the thought away as she state,"Information, right? Why should I give a information, for coin I'm not even sure you can give?"

with that, he smiled, his eyelids lowering softly. he reached into his satchel and pulled out a sack. opening the sack he lifted a string of gold coins easily long enough to be used as a rosary.

"are you sure now? come, be my informant." he said, activating his vampiric domination charm.
