Sending: Telepathy between elves. Some elves have a magic that allows them to be telepathic with animals. wolfrider wolves have some elf blood in their ancestry, so they are more telepathic.

Magic is good for lots of things, but it's completely necessary to have. Peyote can't even send.

Me too (about the tribes stuff)... I'm worried I don't know enough about the Gliders to explain them very well, though...

Is it wrong to plagiarize from wikipedia if we *say* we got it from wikipedia??

Also, and this was just a thought... But would anyone be interested in sometimes doing a yahoo-chat scene? It's just an idea, but if we all had yahoo messenger, we could occasionally all get together and do scenes with INSTANT GRATIFICATION. What do you guys think?

Well, healing magic is a prominent feature in the Elquest world; there's a lot of instances of it's use in the graphic novels. And we don't have a healer. But mind, it's a pretty important job; because not only are you there for fixing cuts and bruises, but healers are a bit like a living dating service. (It's complicated, I'm shure someone has a better explanation.)
Furthermore, every kind of elf tribe has healers, so your options are wide open.

So once you pick a tribe, and think up some backstory and a visual of your character, you'll be pretty much set. (I can do tekteks pretty well, if you'd like an avi overhaul. Or you could do what I did, and use a second profile soley for RPing.)

I think Blaze might be referring to the way elves reproduce...

You see, MOST elves can ONLY reproduce through something called "Recognition," which means they're souls meet and they will make a baby promptly afterwards. Often it's a pretty traumatic thing, because you can recognize anyone (of the opposite gender), and sometimes that someone may not be a friend - enemies can even recognize! It's a method of reproduction that is supposed to create the best genetic offspring of the two involved.

However, with the help of a healer, two elves that HAVEN'T recognized can conceive. It's a big job for the healer and the two elves involved, but if someone and their mate haven't recognized but want to have a baby, that's the way they'd go about it.

Now, mind you, the GoBacks are a little different and can reproduce (within their own tribe) without recognition or a healer - the regular old fashioned way, since the circumstances in which they live mean they have a very high mortality rate (a lot die off pretty quick on account of the constant troll wars).

I, of course, don't know EVERYTHING about the process or anything, but this is my interpretation of what goes on. I'm not sure if there are other tribes that can reproduce without recognition or a healer (wolfriders maybe?).

But as for "dating service," perhaps a more descriptive term would be "fertility counselor," or something. wink

Llune: I believe the natural reproduction is limited to Go-backs. Wolfriders have top recognize. thats why... scouter adn Dewshine (i believe tahts the couple) haven't had a kid. And I think there was anotehr, which Leetah helped have a cub. But yeah, wolfriders ahve to recognize or have a healers help.

Killies: magic feeling is an elf's ability to sense magic. this can be nearly non-existant where they can't sense any magic no matter how strong it is. Or it can be very very strong. For instance the ability to sense old magic millinia later. It can also effect how sensitive you are to magic, like blacksending, sending, healing, and anti-healing. But basically, its just how well you detect magic.
