"Go ahead," He nodded slightly.
What the hell is she going to ask...
His mind wandered, thinking all sorts of ideas about her question. Maybe she was going to ask for a kiss. Not likely, it seemed. She was obviously in no mood for such things. Though it would undoubtedly do her mind some good. She could use the distraction from her woes, as little as she liked the idea. Perhaps he should try a new tactic. But he would wait for her question, first.

Well that was unexpected...
He quickly composed himself and thought about her question. He could do one of two things: Lie. Easy solution, but not a good idea for the long run.
Or, he could tell the blunt truth. Which, that in itself wasn't terrible. There were exceptions to his usual habits with women. But he had always promised himself it wouldn't happen a second time.
But why not...I can't do everything alone...-- Yes, I can. I'm Cross Marian...
He made his decision, choosing his words carefully.
"I can't lie to you. I have been known to be with a lot of women. But...there have been...exceptions," He let the words out a bit painfully, trying to push back his memories of Anita and her mother. He took a quick gulp of rum, letting out a small sigh after he swallowed.
That should give her something to think about...
Okay...that part was true...but..what's up with his second part...what exceptions.....
"What do you mean by exceptions....?" She asks, still curious, although now she was somewhat certain that she'll try not be his newest lay. A part of her felt used, she has heard the stories, more specifically of her two friends Andii and Alyx who love to also get laid every once in a frequent while. They didn't give a second glance at the person after they're done, but still...that second part was confusing her.
"I don't prefer to talk about such personal things..." He shifted in his seat.
If they went into their own room, Cross might let her in, reluctant though he was. But he suddenly felt like speaking about his past, like he needed to get it out to someone. He had never discussed his relationship with Anita's mother, not even to Allen. He wasn't the type to share things, with anyone. But something was tugging at him now, pushing him to talk about it. And not just with anyone, but with Chloe. He began to become a bit disconcerted about the whole thing. This was all something new to him, and he was a bit uncomfortable with himself and the situation.
This is strange...these feelings...
He shook away the thoughts quickly before listening to Chloe's reaction.
