Miangel-i am going to be strange (because i am a generaly strange person) and go back to a topic you were all talking about a while ago-chairs.
I am english and we dont have chairs-dont ask me why but we don't and it makes life co much easier! we just have 1st and 2nd flute!is that what you have?
Ive been playng for-i dunno, 6 years? maybe even seven?
(swithching between topics, i know) but a while ago i thought of taking up alto sax but i just found it confusing-reeds etc and some of the fingerings were different and to be honest, cant stand up straight, let alone try and play a reeded instrument! (respect to those who can)
(switching again, i know, i know)not many of the flutes are particularly snobbish (i probably seem to you peeps be but oh well) most are really nice and without chairs-no wars!
Girly instument-totally. but then again, our head of music is a bloke and hes so cool-and a flutist. Also, one of my flute teachers is a bloke and to be honest-if he was gay, i think a lot of the girls would have been very dissappointed!
i dont know if you lot are-but i am certainly confuddled. interesting word...confuddled...

fire_eyez RinoaHeartilly fire_eyez I play flute. xd I prefer trumpet and want to learn it, though. ninja Yes, traitor. xp eh. Not really. I play the flute and I'm teaching myself how to play the trumpet as well since my bro owns one. 3nodding Heh. I was half expecting all this my-instrument-pwns-yours pride. xp And I wish I could try that. whee lol xd Yeah, some people are like that, but a lot of band geeks play more than one instrument (maybe not a lot).

Kishoku Hokorashii pony-girl17 um.. hi i play both the fllute and the piccilo. sorry i can't spell. sad Learn? ... the picc has all the exact same fingerings and everything as the flute... there's not really anything new to learn if you're gonna take it up. You just need to blow harder to get the notes out. 3nodding At my high school the freshman flutes switch straight to the picc for Marching Band.

yeah, I play both flute and piano. Though I'd like to learn how to play guitar. My mom has one that she never plays....

Generally the first row flutes get first and second row gets second, 'cause my BD hands us the music first so we all take first part and second row gets stuck with the leftovers.

We don't change completely to piccolo, we just play it during Pep and Marching Band. We still play the flute for concert. As for jazz... We're still all on flutes! Stupid Mr. Rhoades hasn't even given me a sax yet gonk I'll prob end up learning clarinet. ><

Padfoot_Freak yeah, I play both flute and piano. Though I'd like to learn how to play guitar. My mom has one that she never plays.... The guitar is an awesome instrument. I've always wanted to learn how to play it but I guess I never really had the time too. I started taking piano lessons before but then the person who was teaching me died... O.o My friend Kris however is currently learning and my friend Jessie is supposed to switch to bass for Jazz Band.

Just yesterday we were informed that for class we were gonna be doing a recording for the jr. high band, (this was our jazz band that did the recording, so only 4 flutes) and so when the BD handed out the flute parts they were mostly 1st parts, but the girl who was 'above' all the other flutes chair-wise got a 2nd part and so I heard she was pissed about that... I personally wouldn't of minded a bit. I would be the only one on second and everyone would hear me =D

I play flute. I got 10th chair in the All-county band. I guess it isn't that good, but I was proud! I'm trying to teach myself to play guitar too.

I play flute!..umm i already said this in some other post sumwheres else so if you read this again yeah...any way i just came back from a solo contest @ first i was nervous and i...umm...lets just say wouldn't let go of my band derectors leg...it was like they were forcing me to go in...oh yeah and one thing that was funny about it there is this one Sax player who told us about what went on in there with him becuase he was complaining..and he tried to turn around during the preformance so he didn't have to look @ the judge's face..the judge told him to turn around and he..told him no...then the judge said your going to be disquilified if you don't face me now.. so he turned around and said..but i don't want to look @ you..so he lifted up the stand and the judge said y...(your really not supposed to have long conv. with the judges)..he replied i don't want to look @ your face cause your ugly...i just started cracking up when he told me this (he ended up with a 3)...oh and yeah i got a 2...not bad for my first time.

I hate our band class! I got seventh chair and some of the players above are only taking band to get their fine arts credit and hate band and I'm better than them! The flute section gets a bad rep for being the noisiest section, and we get yelled at all the time by my biased director who has rose-colored glasses for the stupid brass section who can't play nearly as well as the woodwinds! The percussion section can never shove a sock in it and never are with tempo and AAAAAAAGH!!!!!!!! We do the stupidest crap and play random scales and rhythms, and I know that helps you, but the BD tries to make it fine and tries to make class funny and tries to be cool and he's not!!!
Which is why, as much as I like flute, I'm not going to take concert band next year. I'll still be a band nerd, cause I still love playing music, I just don't like our band class.

I get to spend Saturday Feb 12, marching a mile and a half in Wikkenburg's Gold Rush Day parade crying Since i'm a flute, I am at the front, and if i mess up the whole row behind me messes up. sweatdrop

Hello! I just joined this guild and am proud to say that I am a flutie too! (That's kinda obvious lol) I've been playing for 5 years and I plan to take it further too! Flutes rock!
