Lingering in the waters around Deus did have its disadvantages, it seemed. Some seaweed thought that it could masquerade as tentacles, but Mimsy knew the difference.

The weight of the bag on he shoulder seemed indicative of a fair number of runestones, so Mimsy bid farewell to the depths of the ocean for another week and returned to the surface.

After such a grueling task of combat, Mimsy's ability to concentrate was a bit spotty at best. Half of them broke in her hands, and the other half was halved as well - only five showed the telltale signs of superior runes, while five remained glowing and intact.
That was certainly good enough for her.

The failures of her first series of runestones drove Mimsy to attempt to concentrate harder, and that was exactly what she did. Only one failed stone this time, with regular and superior very nearly split down the middle again. It seemed as if she was getting the hang of this, if her improvements in numbers were any indication.

She swam back with no issue, dragging herself onto shore and dropping her air tank off on the ground beside her as she sat and counted her stones. Hm..only seven. No big, she could still see if they were good for carving.

She was fine carving on the beach, she felt pretty tired but pretty 'zen' she supposed. Apparently she was right when the first stone glowed brilliantly. Smiling, Candace set it aside and worked on the next stone..which broke. Welp, there goes that. She tossed it over her shoulder and picked up the next, which glowed along with the next three as well. The last one broke. Whatever, she had five pretty good stones.

They were defeated! Fini gave a little fist bump into the air and swam over to give Finn a hug. She was feeling way lethargic now and glad they didn't have to fight any more mermaids. Watching Finn, Fini realized there was a reason those bitches had been so intent on defeating them.
Following after him, Fini swam down to retrieve what stones she could.
