((Sorry. Guess I read that completely wrong.))
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 7:46 pm

"You are right, ma'am." Powel said. "We should space out a bit and prepare. This many animals in one place should draw the fiend here shortly." That said he drew his sword and saluted with it, then turned and rode off to one side of the herd.
"Good thinking, Emma." Gene said. "Team 1, spread out... and be ready."
Gene turned his own horse in the opposite direction and began to ride for the outer edge of the herd. He had only just made it to the outer edge when he heard several of the large animals bellow quite louder than the rest. He spun his mount around, orienting on the sound and saw animals running in every direction, fleeing that one spot as quickly as they could, pushing into and against each other in their haste.
"Emma, Tia, Mathias!" He called as he began to urge his horse in that direction.
He was having a difficult time directing his mount to force its way through the oncoming throng of animals. He was about to start applying a bit more force in his leading when he suddenly saw the fiend rear up over the horde of fleeing animals. It was huge. Its sinuous serpentine body must have been over three feet in diameter. It was covered in a heavy looking scales that were a motley assortment of green and tan. As it reared Gene was able to see its golden eyes and wickedly curved fangs.
The sight of the massive rearing fiend was enough to frighten the animals into a new burst of frantic escape and gene suddenly found nothing but open ground between himself and the more than 60 foot snake.
Well, time to get started... Gene thought to himself as he drew back his bow, took aim, and fired his first shot for the serpentine fiends face.

"Yes, it was. That was almost boring." Tyrone said as made long exaggerated motions to wipe his blade on the fur of the fallen fiend. When he finished he rose and swung the blade up over his shoulder again. "Well, I guess we can retrieve our payment and head home."

((Either of you remember where we left Team 2's horses?
Also, still waiting on Kitty for Team 2.))

William charged a good dozen feet outside of the mantis fiends range, trusting that his allies would keep it off of his back for a few seconds. As he ran he sheathed both of his swords and then reached up to take hold of the handle of his wolf-headed blade. He undid the clasp and drew the weapon over his shoulder. He focused, feeling the power that resonated within the weapon. He felt as its power and his met and merged. He focused the power along the edge of the blade, sharpening it, concentrating it into a more focused area.
By the time his foot landed in its last step he was ready. He planted his feet, bracing himself and swung the sword up, over his head, the arc of the blade aimed at the smaller fiend that was attacking Aretha. There was a rushing howling sound of wind and a burst of concentrated air leapt from the blade and tore its way across the distance, ripping up the ground and foliage in its path as it went, to collide with the insect. The smaller bug was broken under the impact of the blast and was carried away with the continuing momentum.
"We're gonna need a seal for that one now, too. Right away." William called out to Aretha as he spun back towards the larger fiend and began collecting a much larger, more widespread burst of power into his sword.
During this the fiend was far to occupied to have diverted its attention in any case. It had been stabbed, impaled, and had just received a dozen slashes of such skill and power that they had sliced through it hard exoskeleton and shallowly into the soft gooey flesh beneath.

((So, I completely screwed up. I deleted all posts mentioning Issac.))

Aretha dodged another attack from the baby fiend before William got in range. He attacked with some sort of power that sent the insect flying. When he mentioned that she needed to seal it, Aretha ignored the throbbing pain in her back from the cut she substained from the insect. Her eyes were crying tears of pain, but she wasn't allowing it to affect her.

Aretha grabbed a paper and her inkwell. She dipped her brush in it, and quickly draw the rune she was taught. Aretha half walked, half crawled over to the now dead fiend. She concentrated like Calivert had taught her, and she placed the lightly glowing paper seal on the fiend. It emited a brighter light for a second, and then went out.

Aretha stared at it, unsure if the fiend was properly sealed.

Tia's eyes and mouth became wide with surprise as she saw the giant serpent. She had heard mention of it's size, but she didn't entirely believe it until now. It's so huge! Tia thought. "Well, let's see how this works." Tia muttered to herself as she sprinted forward toward the fiend but dropped right next to where Gene was stationed with his bow and she then kicked with a huge velocity and strength as her powerful legs punted into the ground, her metal boots slamming into a soil and rock and lifting a huge chunk of the earth out of the ground.

The giant piece piece of earth was about the relative size of a small bolder and was sent flying right at the head of the snake just after Gene's previously shot arrow. The momentum of Tia's punting of the ground caused her to do multiple 360 degree spins in the air before landing on her feet with a dizzy expression. "I may be a rookie, but I'm not useless." Tia said, giving Gene a quick glare.

Kiro's Kyto had been in effect for about two minutes now as William rejoined the battle after rescuing Aretha. The job appeared to be almost done and the group still had three minutes before the fiend's slow movement will cease.

(( Kiro's eyes are still active with Kyto for three more minutes as well so if you still looked him in the eyes you would be drawn into it's ability for five minutes even after the three minutes of Kiro's active Kyto would end. That goes for Shyto as well. ))

Mathias felt his jaw drop as he got his first good look at the giant fiend. He snapped his mouth shut, only to let it drop open again as he watched Tia kick a huge piece of earth at the creature,"Wow..." he said softly to himself before unlimbering his shiled from his back, his sword rasped against it's scabbard as he drew it, bright metal catching the sun. He took position in front of and a little to the side Gene, leaving him space to shoot his bow, but still close enough to offer protection should the fiend strike. He held his shield at the ready, sword held up tight at his side, point forward. He silently willed the monster to charge, wanting to show his teammates that he was more than just a general's son...

(( I was hoping you wouldn't :b I wasn't really sure how I would want to respond to it, and so I hoped you would make a post before I did x) But it didn't happen and as such I ended up with this. ))

Sven was having his entire being focused on creating the seal, scribling the symbols needed on the paper. As the seal was finnished, he backed off from the paper a bit and drags his arm across his forehead, shouting out.
"I'm finnished! The seal is done!" And just as he finnished yelling, a loud thud came from the trees. He turned to where it had come from to find Malkin lying there, obviously injured. As this sight became available to Sven all that could go through his mind was the word 'crap'. He got up, taking the seal in his left hand and the ice dart he had made earlier in his right, and dashed forwards towards the fiend. It was now focused entirely on Matt again, having him on the defensive once again, allowing Sven to get really close. He stoped only for a moment to aim, and then threw his dart getting him a 'turtleseye'. The dart penetrating the fiends eye made it cry out in pain stagger one or two steps away from him, and with the fiend now blind to what happened on that side and thus what Sven was doing, he ran forward once again this time towards it's front leg while placing the seal between his teeth. He finnished up with sliding tackle along the ground, splashing up as much water as he could onto it and then quickly got up to his knees, placing his hands on it, freezing it in place with a thick layer of ice. Now panting from the effort it took him to create ice that thick he ran down to it's hindleg, doing another slide towards it, but this time he more fell than tackled, once again placing his hands on it's leg. As the second leg was frozen, he exhausted began crawling away from it he took the seal into his hand once again checking that the symbols where not hurt by any saliva or splashed up water and yelled out with the last power he could muster.
"It's frozen in place and halfblind, if you're going to kill it, do it now!"

Emma only smiled at the fiend's approach. "This one is nothing! In a few years I'll show you what an Anarian Behemoth is like!" Emma yelled as Mendoza raced up to the fiend, Emma standing on his back. Emma made a little tweeting noise and Mendoza stopped dead, sending Emma flying forward, just as she wanted. Both rapiers were drawn and ready.

"Wow, the boulder was impressive..." Emma thought, but seeing Tia's condition afterward Emma immediately judged the attack as doing more harm than good.

(I leave the control to you Stoic, since whenever I control the fiend it apparently dies. twisted )

"Boring or not it's good money. Tyrone, bring the head please. We'll need proof." Train said as he crossed his arms, ready to leave. Train was actually in a pretty good mood. Very large, angry, strong fiend was taken out in about thirty seconds. Maybe this was a better team than he thought.

(Aha... Sorry for blue team... My post blows...)

Isaac cursed a little under his breath. He hadn't been expecting Kiro's 'support' so he had been holding his halberd with the usual grip. The force of his halberd being torn away from him had also damaged his hands a little. They weren't so bad that they couldn't function, but they hurt like Hell.

Isaac knew that he wouldn't be able to handle his halberd well now either, with it being soaked and slippery with nasty fiend juices. "Only have one weapon left..." Isaac thought as he ran to the front of the insect. Reaching in his vest he drew his flintlock pistol, since the beast was having trouble moving Isaac knew he would be safe enough and his chances of missing were very slim. "Smile pretty for me!" Isaac shouted, and the fiend, having no idea what was in his hand or what he was really saying, 'screamed' to try and intimidate him. Isaac pulled the trigger and the fiend literally bit the bullet. Due to the exoskeleton, the bullet would not be able to exit, and with all of the fleshy things packed inside, the bullet wouldn't ricochet too much inside, but it still would to some extent.

((Sorry girl. Didn't see it. I'm just dropping the ball here.))

Bridget, being only fourteen, didn't have the same strength as Fayn. She couldn't get it out of the other's hands. Bridget made a swipe at Fayn's head with her other chain, while still holding onto Fayn's scythe.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 20, 2009 3:03 am

Fayn stepped back, dodging the chain and giving the scythe a final yank. The chains untangled and the weapon slid free.
The guardian retreated a few steps, panting heavily.
"Geez. Let's just call this a draw. We're like just battling on stamina here.."
She panted, holding out a hand to signal time-out.

Bridget, who was barely out of breath but could see that she could not win against Fayn without truly hurting her, stopped as well. "Fine. We're pretty evenly matched here sparring. We should stop before we really hurt each other."

Bridget looked at the woman, crossed her arms, and said with a pout, "I'm bored again."

The serpentine fiend let out a combination hiss and roar as the arrow impacted it in the face, though it bounced off its thick scales. Immediately following the arrow was a large boulder, which struck it at right about the one quarter mark, below the head. The impact knocked it back slightly and the beast responded with another hissing roar.
Tough...
Gene drew more arrows from his quiver and fired two more in rapid succession. Both bounced harmlessly off of the fiends scales.
Since it's turned to face us its scales lay away from my shots. I'll have to fire at an angle to its body...
"Mathias, Tia, if you can keep its attention I may be able to get in a few shots." Gene said. After he had done so he began moving his horse in a wide arc, taking him far out to one side of the fiend.
The fiend meanwhile was not taking being fired upon kindly. It lowered its reared head and slithered in rapid 'S' shaped movements for Tia and Mathias. It approached extremely quickly and within only a few moments it was close enough to rear once again and whipped its head forward, striking at Mathias with its wickedly curved fangs.

Ty swung his sword down over his shoulder again, bringing it down across the felled fiends neck. The creatures head separated from its body with almost no resistance. Ty, again, wiped his blade across the creatures sparsely furred body, clearing the weapon of blood. He then bent to where the severed head lay and picked it up by a scruff of hair at the top. He swung his sword back over his shoulder once more and turned to Train.
"Ready."

Matt had been continuing his advance throughout all of this. When Sven had hurled his ice dart into the creatures eye it had, apparently, decided it had more important things to worry about that one man with fiery hands. That was a mistake.
While the fiend was focused on thrashing about in pain and attempting to free itself from the restrictive ice Sven had coated it in Matt had taken the opportunity to rush forward. He was getting pretty worn out from maintaining such an intense level of flame, so he knew he'd have to make the remainder of the encounter short and sweet. He moved close enough to touch the trashing animal and reached out with both hands, splaying them across its carapace. He willed all of the heat in his hands to surge forward, into the creatures shell. As intense a heat as he could muster and as fast as he could expel it.
The turtle decided that he was still a threat after all and thrust its head forward at him. As it did so it fired a blast of water at him from point blank range. Matt knew he could not raise his arms in time and began to raise his flames instead, to cover his entire body. They were only partially risen when the jet collided with his chest. He was thrown backwards and skipped off the ground more than once before rolling to a stop.
He rolled to one knee and drew his cinder block sized hammer off the hook at his waist. He gathered all of the remaining strength in him and hurled it at the turtle. The heavy weapon twirled through the air, end over end. It abruptly ended it flight with a heavy impact and a sharp cracking sound against the turtles chest. The creatures shell had caved under the impact large fractures spreading from the point of impact and several pieces of shell falling away entirely.
"Malkin, he's all yours now!" Matt called. "Finish it!"

William had been about to swing his sword and release the power he had been building in it when Isaac had pulled the metaphorical rabbit out of his hat. A flintlock. One of those rare and expensive new experimental weapons. He had all but stuffed it into the fiends mouth and unloaded. There was a ridiculously loud cracking sound and muffled flash of light immediately followed by some sickeningly wet sounds of impact and some cracking.
The fiend fell forward onto its face, dark green fluids oozing out of its mouth. There was a spider webbing crack shape across the back of its head.
"Damn..." William said as he allowed the power in his blade to disperse and set it back in its hook, fixing it in place with the clasp. "Aretha, we're gonna need that other seal right now." He called back to her.

Mathias watched the serpent fiend intently,"I'll do my best!" he called to Gene without turning, not intending to take his eyes off the creature for a second. When the fiend suddenly charged, Mathias gritted his teeth and dug his heels in, leaning forward slightly towards the impending impact,"Tia! Get ready!" he yelled over the din of the hiss/roar of the creature and the frightened lowing of the cattle scattering away from the battle. He felt a hard shock run up his arm and through the rest of his body as the serpent struck with lightning speed, catching Mathias' un his upraised shield. He nearly lost his balance, but dug his heels in even further as he screamed in part fear and part exhiliration, the heat of battle overtaking him as he thrust forward with his sword past his shield, hoping to score a hit and at least keep the thing occupied if nothing else.

((Just thought I'd say again, since 3 of our 4 teams are completed/nearly completed with their missions, that I am opening the floor to any and all who would like to create their own missions. If anybody is planning on making one please let me know, even if you haven't started yet. If you do plan on running a mission then I would suggest getting at least the rough concept completed soon, as we will have teams ready to accept new missions again soon.))

Hearing Mathias' readying words Tia only replied with a very scratchy, "I'm always ready..." As Tia still appeared dizzy from her last attack, though it seemed like it was wearing off. Tia approached behind Mathias and waited for a moment she could attack or help Mathias defend an attack.

"Ahh, one of those things." Kiro muttered and looked at Issac. "Seems like that kind of takes the fun out of things..." Kiro commented. (( Wooo, so amazing. ))

Enyo sighed finally and relaxed her shoulders and tucked her weapons as well as her Ryus away as they seemed to diminish into nothing. I guess that's a mission complete. Enyo nodded to Train and Tyrone to signify she was ready too.
