Mara watched Ain run off. She couldn't understand why. Why was he like this? Why had he hurt Cho? Why had he attacked them? Why had he run? He had been so kind before. Was he really beaten? Mara watched him run somewhat dumbfounded.
Cho watched Ain turn and leave. As soon as she could move she fell forward, catching herself with her palm and supporting her body that way. She watched the window he had left though for a moment before looking up into Kyoji's eyes. "Thank you Kyoji, I'm fine now." She said hugging him tightly. "How are you doing Kyoji?" She asked wrapping her other, non-supporting, hand around Kyoji.

Gouki found himself relaxing slightly after his body tensed so in the fight. The man's eyes seemed to change before he ran. It confused Gouki and peaked his curiosity. Why would a man who helped Mara find them attack them. Gouki bent down and hugged Mara as he pondered what the man was saying during the conflict. Gouki considered going after the man but if it was just a feint would he come back when they were in pursuit? Gouki couldn't chance it.

Curious where he would go Mara left her sister's side and ran to the window curious where Ain was running off to. She strained her eyes and leaned slightly out the window to see if she could see his vanishing figure.

"I'm fine." Kyoji said, jamming his tanto back into the sheathe in his boot. "Though that one had some nasty abilities. He if a formidable adversary. I am sorry for all of this Cho. It is my fault that he attacked... If I didn't have Muramasa then this would not have happened." He said regretfully. He had never wanted to bring this upon Cho or her children.

Ain stopped in an alley a fair distance away and promptly doubled over throwing up. This always happened whenever he started to get corrupted by the Master's magic, the conflict of his morals and mindset and what he does while corrupted always make him sick after he starts to get back to normal. The Master was silent, for all his wickedness he had a soft spot for little girls with courage, which for the time being gave Ain a respite from the pain.

Cho placed her hand gently on Kyoji's shoulder. "Kyoji, you are one of us. your problems are now ours as well, and ours yours. That is how family works, is it not?" She asked stroking his cheek gently with her long, soft, fingers. "He was a hard enemy, but we know more about him now. We can learn from that and see to it that we are prepared for next time."

"Learn from today's encounter? The man retreated suddenly after Mara recognized him, his touch somehow negated the magical influence of others, he had at least some martial arts abilities, and he could use his own magic...Just the paralyzing magics makes him intimidating enough. How do we fight someone that can paralyze you and prevents you from attacking them?" Gouki said annoyed by the recent events. Honestly he was scared for the girls. He wasn't sure if he was able to hold the man back.

Cho looked over at Gouki with calm eyes and a non too happy expression. "First of all we need to think about it calmly. If we get worked up nothing will ever come around. We won't be able to look at this logically. Yes he can do these things but perhaps we could use this town for help. Down below there is a market. I am sure somewhere down there there could be a booth that sells protection against magic or against paralysis. If we could protect ourselves then we should be fine, right?" She asked softly to calm Gouki.
Mara looked back over her shoulder at Gouki. She ran to him and wrapped her arms tightly around him. "Gouki, we'll be okay! I promise. That man isn't really a bad guy, he can be very kind. But I think he has something bugging him. Do you think that he didn't want to see me?" She asked sadly. "I wanted to tell him thank you for helping me earlier."

Kyoji nodded and smiled at Cho. "Thank you... I suppose that is what family is about." He told her when she soothed him. Kyoji moved Kotetsu's sheath into a more comfortable position and nodded in agreement with Cho. "Perhaps, he is a formidable foe. To deny that would be foolish. But he did reveal some of his ability. Perhaps it might not be incredibly helpful right now, but any information we have can be of use in future encounters." He said. His instincts as an assassin and a hired blade had never gone away, but he had tried to dull them, but in the aftermath of the attack, what he had managed to bury successfully were resurfacing. Perhaps, I was going about it the wrong way. I shouldn't be trying to cast away what I have learned, I should be using to protect those I care about. I didn't think of it then... but now that I have found those who I wish to be with, I know that is the path I should be taking." He thought. Looking toward Ayaka he smiled at her and looked her in the eyes. "Are you alright, little Ayaka?" He asked the girl.

Cho nodded, "There is much we have learned today, not all we could learn, but we know a lot more than we started out with." She glanced at Mara, "And we may know a way to stop him at least." She felt awful even thinking about using the children to stop the danger, but if that was their only choice...was it really even something to consider. It was awful, but was it totally wrong?
Ayaka looked up at Kyoji, this was the first time someone had spoken to her since the fight. She nodded vigorously. "Yes Kyoji-san I'm alright." She said quickly. She looked at her mom happy to see her moving normally again, and also happy that Kyoji was safe, and that his sword was safe too. "Thank you for asking. You all kept Mara and I safe."

Gouki sighed loudly. It was thanks to Mara that they were okay as it was. He bent down and hugged her tightly. "He might have been a nice guy in the streets but with Kyoji's sword in his sights he was a very dangerous man Mara. I don't want you running off after him. We got lucky this time but what if he is just luring us into lowering our guards? I can not chance you getting hurt sis."

Mara wrapped her arms around Gouki. The man had seemed like he was in a bad mood, but not totally bad. Perhaps he just needed a little help. She didn't fear him. Not at all. And she wanted to go find him and help him. She nodded though, understanding where Gouki came from. "I understand Gouki." Mara said hugging him back. "Are you okay Gouki-chan?" She rubbed his back. "He didn't hurt you, did he?"

Ain leaned against the side of the alley. He would try tomorrow, in a place more open and secluded. He had some bottled fire magic he could use, and a few more tricks up his sleeve. He wouldn't run this time, not unless he was about to die.

Mara's gentle rubbing calmed Gouki's nerves as he nodded. "I am fine Mara thank you for asking. After all...your big brother is one of the toughest guys in the world right? If that man ever hurts you he wil never forget the scorn of a brother's love." Gouki said as he hugged her tighter. The thought of him feeling helpless still haunted him but he did the best to let his pride shine through.
"Maybe I can get used to the paralyzing magic if there is something close to it. Like build up an immunity or something. Do you think that would work?" Gouki asked the adults as he turned his head to them with Mara still in his arms.

Mara continued to hug Gouki and to rub his back as she had before. "I am happy that you are alright." She said gently. "You are a tough guy, you've always kept me safe. Thank you big brother."
Cho shook her head. "If you could build up an immunity to any and or all magics then perhaps. But that is a task that is nearly impossible. That was a strange spell too." She sighed and placed her hand over her heart. "I honestly could do nothing."
