"Well," Tinuviel smiled, "maybe with a bit of luck she'll come early and we'll be able to go riding still before lunch. I assume that after lunch, you'll be off with Earendil again?"

It was sort of expected after she had been visiting for this many years, that she would spend most of her time there with Earendil.

Lin nodded, "Yep, but that's what i always do, and since I can't go up the mountain otherwise I'll miss her, I'll certainly be spending time with Earendil afterwards. Doing what, I'm not sure.... it might be fun.. it might be educational... or both."

It might be odd to say it might be both, but for Lin she did get a joy out of learning, she just wasn't a really good book learner. She had to be doing it, practicing it, talking about it to learn nearly anything. Which might explain why classroom learning bored her to tears.

"Perhaps you could help me plan my trip around the Southland," Tinuviel suggested with a twinkle in her eye. "Do you think your father would let you come with? Earendil would be happy to come, I'm sure, and we won't be leaving the Southland, and we'll be well-guarded at all times, so safety isn't really a big worry ..."

And be the sane people while Tinuviel was with those lords, it sounded like a wonderful idea. Besides her father couldn't say no if she was under supervision.

Honestly though, she was starting to think Vincent was right, her father had a soft spot for her. After all, her father started his professional career at her age (well if she was going by physical looks that is).

"He can't say no, not when I'm going to be in one country and not when I'm going with a lot of people and being under supervision."

And if not she would talk to Vincent, she knew how her mentor thought, this would be a good way to get her 'feet wet' as it were.

Tinuviel was pleased, and her eyes showed it.

"Then perhaps after breakfast is done, we can go to my study and look over maps," she suggested eagerly. "Plan out a route, think about where we'll be going, what we'll look for ..."

For once, she had something that she was actually looking forward to. It was a refreshing change.

"That sounds like a plan, I don't really know many places here, except the few times some of the fighters came from the Southland rather than the Westland," Lin replied.

Which meant the only place she knew was Phoenix Falls.

Tinuviel nodded, smiling. "Then it's set," she murmured. "I wonder if we shouldn't have someone else with us to help with the planning ... someone who knows a bit more about it, who's been there ..."

But who would that be? Neither of her parents had gone traveling, Daerin hadn't been home in she didn't know how long ... who else was there?

Lin thought about it, she could only think of two people off the top of her head that could know. Mikhail though was not home, and no one knew when he was going to be home, but she knew he had traveled, and then...

"There's Sir Valdemar, but he might be busy," Lin murmured.

She hadn't forgotten after all the events of the day before.

"There's no harm in asking," Tinuviel smiled at Lin. "Besides, if it's official business ... then I'm sure he won't mind helping out. He said yesterday that he can't do anything about the Morgawr until he hears back from the letter he sent out."

And as old as the historian was, he was bound to know more than anyone else about the land.

"Good point," Lin murmured.

She realized she was still too use to very quick communication, she was going to have to remember to rethink that when she was here.

"And he is the only person here that I can think of who has traveled," Lin murmured.

And well to her still despite it all there was very little that Sir Valdemar did not know, the only person who knew more than him was Aragost.

"Ninako has traveled," Tinuviel offered, "but what with everything that's going on ... I don't know if she would have the time to sit down with us. Possibly. But as far as I know, most of her traveling was done before she was even six years old, so who knows how much of it she even remembers?"

It was a good question though ... on the other hand, she realized, there were many books they could look through.

"I didn't know that..." Lin murmured.

But then again Lin didn't know the past that Atalya had only that she hadn't always been here, but that was about it. She didn't know why or how.

"And unless Mikhail comes back..." she shrugged, "But I'm sure there are also things we can read.."

Though knowing what a city was like now would be very good too.

"I would suggest that we ask my Uncle Eldrin," Tinuviel smiled ruefully, "but as we've already realized, we can't leave the castle ... books it is then. Are you finished eating? We can head to my study and plan a route, the cities are in a circle for the most part."

She dabbed at her mouth with a cloth napkin and placed it on the table, then looked to Lin to see if she was done.

Lin didn't know Captain Eldrin had traveled, but then again he had been up there training and teaching for a long time and he had to have been going around the land too at one point. Kind of like what Elros might do if he chose to take up on Lothiriel and Pen's offer. She had already set her utensils aside, since she had finished.

"I'm done," Lin nodded, "Maybe tomorrow or the like we can ask him."

"Agreed," Tinuviel smiled. "Unless Halaleel comes early and we can go afterwards. But come, let's go. I don't think you've been to my study before, it's just down the hall from Ninako's."

Very nearly the same size, too, which meant that it was bigger than Sir Valdemar's.
