So this was really it, there was nothing left to do, nothing left here. All he could do was mend the wounds and move on. She was asking for closure it seemed and he'd provide it if he could lay his head down at night knowing she was free of him.

"I..." He started boldly with this resolution in mind but found himself wavering almost immediately. This wasn't going to be pretty, and the stern look on his face that he was offering almost communicated this to Amaya as she without a doubt waited for his reply. "Me mum left when a' w's five." The statement seemed disjointed and irrelevent until the sharkboy suddenly started with a determination and forced-will that was almost tangible through his welling eyes. "An ye neh wut me Pops tol' me th'day she went away? 'e took me by th'shouldehs an' a' watched 'er through th'windeh. 'e said:

'Boy, ye listen good neh. A' wom'n is vinicat've an' cruel' A sharp sniff was heard from Alec but he didn't stop to allow his bosy to register the sadness. 'Theh love ye teh th'ends o' th'world an' then theh leave ye t'rot..... Rot 'n THIS. An ye wish f'death boy... y'wish f'death.'

Before he could finish the last line as he repeated it from his memory, the tears began to flow until his vision was blurred in to a mass of swirling colours. "A' c'nt.... do tha'." He choked out and his voice cracked. He knew she was watching, but would she understand? He didn't want to wait around and find out. In an unsure motion, he began to wheel backwards with a strong intention to leave though he only managed to jostle himself back less than an inch.

As he spoke Amaya remained silent, watching as he began crying and then pathetically inched himself back. She frowned and looked down, feeling horrible and selfish. If she were able to shed tears, they would have started flowing. She didn't move to hug him or drag him back, but she didn't sit in silence either.

"I wouldn't do that do you." She finally choked out, her voice as if she really was crying. But Amaya's words weren't to redeem their relationship like they had been... they were only for his sake now."Things are different here. All we have is each other, nothing to leave for." Yellow eyes looked up at him from her position on the floor.

"And even if it's not me, solitude isn't any better than being dead. I just want you to be happy. As happy as you can be in this place, with whoever makes you the happiest." She swallowed and sniffed, looking down at her lap.

Alec felt foolish for crying about something that happened so long ago, even more pathetic that someone had to sit there and bare witness to this unravelling of his composure. The truth was that even though it'd happened when he was a small child, the bitter words his father had spoken never left his soul. They festered and became a tainted mantra in the days that followed his mother's departure until he believed they were true. Amaya wasn't cruel but there was nothing stopping her from exacting a fatal blow the moment he opened himself fully into a raw and innocent state of being. It was the convincing idea that held him back however, but the fear of it that consumed. He never realized how much fear controlled his life from almost every vantage point.

Deep in thought, he hadn't noticed himself trembling in his chair. "Bein' alone IS death!" The teen exclaimed agreeingly as he finally was able to stop his own crying. "Bu' a' can' live like this. A' can' watch ye hidin from me and me hidin from ye,.... so alone. A'm so sceh'd o' bein alone."

Was that...?

But Amaya didn't let herself jump ahead and into conclusions. She looked up at him again and then stood up, walking closer and then leaning down so she could wrap her scaley arms around his neck. "You're not alone, Alec. I'm not going anywhere."

Alec sighed and accepted the hug, staring blankly over her shoulder as if lost in thought. Wasn't Amaya in need of comforting and he was the one being hugged? How the hell did this end up happening? Regardless, he felt a little better than what he had when he arrived at the duplex, like a small weight had been lifted just enough so that he was able to breathe a little better. The sharkboy's muzzle nudged Amaya's shoulder as she clung to him, sensory nodes of somesort nosing at her scaley skin. "Ye need t'ge' ou' mo'." The boy mumble intentionally off-topic, hoping that she was feeling a little better now too.

Amaya pulled away and stood up straight, her head cocked to the side slightly so she could look down at him. "I know..." She mumbled, guilty. "I'm just having trouble finding more than a couple reasons to get out of the bed in the morning." She admitted.

Alec carried on like nothing had gone on at all, feeling much more consoled if he could just put the past events behind him into the back of his mind. "Come swimmin'." He answered casually as an honest suggestion. It seemed reasonable enough. Though even as he spoke, he felt intent on leaving Amaya alone for now. Perhaps one day she'd be the one to come and ask to play.

Turning in his wheelchair, he sat by her side and looked up as if waiting for her to escort him out.

The girl thought about this for a moment and looked around. She eyed the bottle of pills and then glanced back at Alec before nodding. "Okay." She walked around his chair and into the bedroom, grabbing her yellow sundress just for the sake of being decent in public even though she didn't have anything to hide.

"Come on, Donner." She called, and almost instantly the australian shepard's ears were perked and he leapt off of her bed to stop by her side with his tail wagging. He seemed to already know his name and commands... smart dog.

Content with the distraction, Alec gladly waited for Amaya to ready herself before they left in what he could only assume was the direction of the lake. He still needed to find out how well he could swim now and maybe it was about time he went looking for Awen for a lesson or two in the ways of the aquatic.

Donner (so that's what his name was) sprinted eagerly for the door and he followed, pushing as much of the conversation they'd had far from his mind. Things were at least beginning to settle and he was sure he could sort out the rest as it came.

[Reacquainting]

After the new information about moving in with Alec, the iguana girl had made it her purpose in life to pack up her things in preparation even though it would probably be a week or two before the room was ready for the two of them. Most of the things she didn't use on a regular basis were already packed away into boxes and bags she had wrestled from multiple places among the village center, her shelves were cleared and cleaned as she sauntered about her small duplex to put her things into the boxes.

Donner lay flopped on the bed, watching her intently with his head between his paws. He wondered what it was she was doing. Putting things into boxes was odd behavior wasn't it? He wiggled and gave a yawn, eyes watching her protectivly.

Chubbs scratched his chin as he looked at the door to Amaya's place, wondering wether he should knock or not. He hadn't seen her in a while, he thought he'd be in deep s**t with her for not saying hello to her more often. His new medication had put a reverse spin on his attitude, he wasn't a raging beast anymore, but now he felt depressed and glum and had been hiding in his place for a long time.

He decided to get out a little, and first stop was to see how his adopted baby sister was doing. For Chubbs, she was the only family he had. Lifting his paw to the door, he gave it three loud tuds and waited.

THUD THUD THUD!

Amaya blinked and turned to look at the door. They were rather loud and powerful knocks to be coming from Alec, who had been the only one to come by and see her lately. Donner's head shot up like a bullet and within seconds he was in front of the door and barking like a maniac.

After a number of failed attempts to get him to calm down his leash was slapped onto his collar and the other end was tied to the bedpost. Hopefully she wouldn't regret doing that if it was one of the staff behind the door.

The doorknob turned and her head poked out, staring at a wall of brown fur. Slowly they moved up... and up... and up, her neck craning back painfully to look at the huge mass that was over two feet taller than her now. Then they met the long narrow muzzle on the rather menacing looking face staring down at her.

Last time she has seen Chubbs his eyes were still blue, he still had the patch of reddish hair on his head, and he was... a lot smaller. Amaya had even thought he was dead. Not making the connection she took a step back. "Uh..." She squeaked, Donner barking even wilder behind her.
