Lin giggled at that as she hopped off the chair. Her Daddy knew a lot of things, but she was sure there was a non useful reason behind it, though the family was so.... so... practical that it was hard for her to imagine there not being a reason for his Daddy to know how to ride a horse.
"Ready!"

Ahren stood quickly on his feet and put his hands behind his back, the very image of obedience.
"I'm ready!" he agreed with Lin; and with that said, he headed over to join her, holding one hand out to her as if to make up for his earlier actions.

"Good," Arthael smiled. "Then let's go."
And she headed over to the door and opened it for the two of them, waiting for them to pass through.

Lin smiled brightly as she led the way out this time. Holding onto Ahren's hand, and glad he was happy again. Perhaps all he needed a good yelling at, though she wasn't sure about the whole lifting him by the tunic thing.

When they reached the outside of the barracks again, ahren stopped in his tracks and took a deep breath, as if he had emerged from a dark hole for the first time in many years.
"Boy it's nice out today," he said cheerfully, grinning at Lin again.

Arthael was right behind the children, and when she heard Ahren's comment, she grinned.
"Indeed it is," she agreed. "One of the most beautiful days yet. I'm glad. It means that the men will have an easy ride, at least for today."
After all, who could tell about tomorrow? Or the day after?
"Anyways, this is where I leave you," she told them, her expression growing serious again. "I have to find Halmir before he does himself an injury."
It was more an expression than anything else, but with Halmir anything was possible.
"I'll see you two around."
And with a wave, she headed off in the opposite direction.

"See you later!" Lin waved watching Arthael leave.
At least she hoped to see the woman and Halmir later on. For now, she would be content with doing other things, whatever those other things were.
In the meantime, now that everyone had finished up Miyu wanted to go out. To see Aragost of course. Because she didn't get to see him yesterday. Her grandmother of course could not say no since Lin had also disappeared off into the day, but she made Lin promise that if he was out in patrol to not look for him. After all the last thing she needed was for a skittish girl to disappear into a forest. Not that she believed Miyu would do such thing...
But one never knew.

Ahren waved at Arthael's retreating back as well, then tugged Lin in the direction of the stables.
"Come on," he grinned, "let's go! Maybe we can catch Shael before she goes!"
He spotted Miyu over by the house as they went, and waved to her.

"I hope so," Lin looking to where Ahren was waving and gave a small wave to her neice before going towards the stables.
She also had to wonder if Elberon was there too, he probably the last time she checked.
"Mi!" Miyu waved briefly before trotting off towards the building the other tow had left.

Ahren broke into a run, careful to make sure he wasn't going to be dragging Lin.
"And maybe if we're really lucky Elberon will be too busy working to ask so many questions!" he said enthusiastically. "But only if we're really really really really really really lucky!"

"He can't be that bad," Lin replied back as she hurried along with him not wanting to fall behind or be a bother, "There's only so many questions you can ask being stuck in the same place for as long as the ranch as been around."
At least that's what she thought, though if she really thought about it she tended to ask a lot of questions. Granted she was young and didn't know a lot yet. Unfortunately that didn't occur to Lin about her own habit of questioning things.
Just like it didn't occur to Miyu the moment she opened the door to the barracks that she had no idea where Aragost lived. Unlike Lin, she had never been inside the building so she was not at all prepared for the long narrow hallway, much less the dark. Especially the dark, in which her wings fluttered nervously as the door closed behind her. She looked left, she looked right and she had no idea which way to go. However she figured, somehow if she went down one way... maybe she would evenually find him.
However that worked.

Ahren stopped abruptly just before they reached the stables and turned to look at Lin curiously.
"When was the last time you saw him?" he asked her bluntly.

A tall, thin shadow appeared behind Miyu ... or rather, perhaps his presence, considering how dark it was in there. Yet the elf's movements (if one could see them) were quick and easy, as if he could see exactly what he was doing, where he was going, and what was around him.
He peered at Miyu curiously, his large owl-eyes blinking slowly, one after the other.

"Uhm...." Lin thought about it.
Now that she had thought about it, it had been a very long time since she had seen him. She wasn't allowed into the stables as a smaller child and she tended to be doing other things. Like... bugging Elros... or Aragost.... or taking lessons.. or something like that.
"Not since I was smaller?"
"Miiii....."
She had the sudden impression something was behind her. The sort of impression that made her stop dead on her tracks as her wings fluttered to the point where they looked like they were going to have a spazz attack. Nervously she looked behind her, but in the dark she couldn't really tell anything apart. Her eyes grew wide as she tried to reach out and see what was there or not there.

Ahren rolled his eyes, then sighed and opened the stable doors.
"Yup," he murmured flatly, "he's gonna have a lot of questions."
He sighed. Might as well get them over with. Then again, maybe Shael could help out.
