Jumping at the sound of someone's voice, she accidentally dropped the small silver object from her hands into the fountain. First, she ignored the person speaking to her, kneeling down to fish the object she stopped before her hand touched the water only now realizing that there was another person there.
Turning her head over to look at the dimly lit figure she slowly panicked. Thinking that she had already gotten rid of the people following her, she stood back up cautiously and didn't answer his question.

"Why are you here? Who are you!?"

Demanding nervously in as low a voice as she could, completely forgetting his question. Kneeling down again and pulling back her sleeve, she dipped her hand down into the fountain and pulled out a cross, glistening in the moonlight. Looking around her for ways to run to she backed up slowly, taking a look back at her 'guest' every now and then. With every step she seemed to become more paranoid, and it was becoming increasingly obvious. Finally almost tripping over a pot of flowers, she stopped looking back at him worriedly. Calmly reassuring that it was all in her head, she reminded herself that this wasn't a forest, and that that figure couldn't have possibly been a vampire. She couldn't be so sure though...

What is he doing out so late?

[again sorry for the lame post-It's a bit hard when you've been stalling all day and need rest. Plus answering messages.]

((Just to let you all know that I shall be leaving for an extended period of time. This if from this Sunday to Next Saturday, unfortunately. I can make no promises of if I can check on this roleplay in betwixt now and then, but I shall make an effort to do so.))

Linn's thoughts somewhat mirrored the girl's. Everything had been going well until this idiot showed up. He silently cursed the man, retreating deeper into the shadows in order to remain unseen.
It wasn't too hard; he wore black for a reason.

The vampire watched, annoyed, as his next meal seemed to slip through his fingers. It would be possible to salvage the situation if the man left soon, but his prey was alert now.
That was something no hunter needed.

It would be impossible to kill them both. Even if he could, it would raise suspicion. For now, not many people had considered the possibility of vampires straying from the Blight. He'd like to keep it that way... It made his life much easier.
He almost laughed at his choice of words, but caught himself just in time. Setting his thoughts aside, he turned his attention back to the two figures in the dark.

Gerard chuckled lightly at the girl, she was so nervous and paranoid. He had never seen a person so concerned about being seen. He realized after she pulled a cross out of the water that she wasn't worried about being seen, she thought he was a vampire!

He walked forward and stared at her curoiously. "Excuse me, but I am not a vampire here to suck your veins dry, I was just looking for a place to sleep. I am sorry if I startled you." He said to her politely. " I really don't have a home to sleep in, since the family that owned it came back and this park looked comfortable enough to me, so here I am." Gerard said calmly. "What are you doing out here at this time of night anyway?" He asked, crossing his arms and stared at her.

He looked at her, she had a regal bearing about her. She intrigued him, a noble that was outside at night instead of in their silk beds, gripping their money like it was their lover. His eyebrow raised involutarily in curiosity and he smiled at her. He felt as though someone was watching them, but just assumed it was the guard at the gate. He hoped that the guard wouldn't recognise him, he had enough on his plate for the day.

Gripping herself internally, she took in a deep breath, than with a muted sigh she calmed herself down. Releasing her shoulders from their petrified state, she dropped both arms to her sides to rest, the cross gently dangling from her left hand. Placing the cross around her wrist, she stared out towards the bushes, just to give her something to look at. Regaining her composure she looked at the man, holding up her head and acting as if she were one of those pompous nobles that she always had to meet.

Turning around briefly and placing her hands on her hips she pouted childishly,"Well, you should be sorry! It's not very nice to sneak up on a lady such as myself like that. I guess I should take your apology, but you get any closer and...and..I'll.. do. something." She hadn't really thought that part out, she guessed if worse came to worse she could always call the guards. "I'll call the guards that's what I'll do!" she finished, not missing a beat,"And If you're a beggar how were you able to get inside the gates? How do I know you're not some kind of stalker?" She said moving from her position into a new one. Resting her left hand on her hips as she leaned forward and pointed accusingly at what would've been his face were he close enough.

Now even though she was a noble, pointing wasn't a very 'nice' thing to do, it was almost as if you were pointing out a common criminal.

Beginning her next sentence without much rest she told him,"I shall think that it would be none of your business to know what I'm doing at this time of night. It's not uncommon for people to walk around, enjoying the moonlight. Don't accuse me of doing anything wrong, I'm not the one stalking young women here." Feeling a draft she looked down to see she was exposing herself a slight bit, blushing and pulling her dress higher and holding it there with her hands crossed gently, she scoffed,"Hmph!

[That's great Neo.]

Gerard felt anger like he never had before. His face flushed, his eyes looked directly at her, as if he would catch her on fire by looking at her. It burned inside him, he couldn't stop himself. He blurted out with obvious irritation towards the girl, "You think that I would honestly waste my time stalking some nobleman's spoiled child? What would possess me to do that? The very nerve of it all, its outrageous! I came here to get some rest since your kind hoard all the money they can get their little piggy hands on, leaving people like me destitute, forcing us to live in the streets! Yet you are too blinded by the glint of your own gold to see it! So if that's all you have to say, then leave me here to sleep on the wet grass in peace."

Gerard's face drained of its red color, he turned his back to the girl and crossed his arms. He was still angry at her, he was just waiting for her meltdown, her shock that someone would dare to speak back to her. He smiled though, his mind was glad he had finally had the chance to tell a noble what he really felt. The feeling, to him, was pure euphoria. He had been thinking that little speech since he saw her, he knew the way she would act. He had seen it before in some of the few nobles that had come to the market place. The bratty attitude, the demanding postures, the pure feeling that they thought they were superior to you. It was insane to him that they would think themselves better to him.

His smile faded, his face darkened. He already wanted to leave, he didn't want to give them the joy of having him carted off to the jail for being in their home. He began to walk off back towards the gates, he was dead set on getting out of there.

((What's great?))

(( Your paragraph division. It's much easier to read now that you've been breaking it up more. ))

Arching a brow, Linn watched in silence. Things were getting interesting. No longer was he worried about his meal; now he was curious. He, too, had grown up without the money of a noble. While he may not have been sleeping in random houses, he definitely had a dislike for the money-grubbing buggers.

He frowned slightly as the man turned to leave. The girl might not show any reaction if he left. Linn almost tried to stop him, make him wait so she had to answer his accusation, but remembered just in time that he was hiding.

He sighed. The vampire had been reminded, once again, exactly what he was. In no more mood to watch, he waited patiently for the man to leave so he could have his midnight snack...

As he yelled at her, her face turned into a mesh of expressions. Shock, confusion, pity, and sadness, all at the same time. Shock from not knowing the other side of the spectrum, as a noble she had been given everything she needed and had special treatment. Confusion from basically the same thing, only that she didn't know people were reduced to sneaking at night to live. Pity that he lived such a hard life, she found a debt to him, for being so cruel. Then sadness, for not treating him like a regular person, instead of the corrupted men that did stalk her. Lifting her head, she filled herself with determination to show her forgiveness.

Running quite a ways ahead of him, she searched the shadowed bushes on either side for the right flower. The shrubs themselves were cloaked in darkness and she could only make out vague colors and shapes from the moonlight. Spotting what seemed to be a dark blue flower, she hurried over to it to pick it out, before the stranger passed out of the garden completely. Heading over to the shrouded bush, it seemed eerily dark in the immediate area. A feeling of hopelessness washed over her and she stood frozen for a moment while it started to seep through to her core. It was a feeling like the one she experienced while in the carriage. Laughing to internally, she reassured herself that she was just getting the chills from the cold night air.

She bent over and picked her flower, pricking her finger on the thorns in the bush and releasing a few drops of her crimson fluids to fall to the ground. Wincing at the pain then staring at her finger she gently sucked on her finger to 'clean' her cut. Examining it for a few moments before finding it was alright, she looked back at the man who yelled at her. Searching him for a reaction, she didn't find one. Concluding that he was ignoring her in blind fury, though she could've been wrong. Seeing he was getting closer she stood back up, looking back at the foreboding shadows for a moment, then sliding a ways in front of him.

Adjusting herself so she felt comfortable, she gently picked up the hem of her dress and curtsied in front of him, bowing her head softly. Slowly pulling out of it she raised the flower forward in front of her steadily and releasing the words,"Sir, I hope you accept my favor as my formal apology."

Raising her head up to look at him, she saw a glint in the corner of her eye. A small light emanating from the door far behind him. Suddenly she was nervous and her happy demeanor soon hid the fear in her...

He took the flower, a stunned look crossed his face. "A noble, apologize? This is a shock. I would never expect to see the day when a noble would even come close to seeing the plight of the destitute. You see, I have seen both sides of the spectrum, I was rich once, but threw it away, living alone and poor, resorting to thievery to live these last few years. Granted, the life of theivery is filled with excitement, but I would trade it all to just live an average life. To live as a normal peron, going day to day, to always have a home to go to, to...." He stopped abruptly. He saw a look of fear in her eyes, a look he had seen several times in his own. There was someone watching them, other than the guard.

His hand traveled to his dagger, he turned to the door. He sighed, it wasn't a vampire as he had thought. He sheathed his dagger and looked at her. "Its nothing, don't worry so much." He told her. "Its probably just a servant out to make his nightly rounds."

He still felt, though, that something was a bit off, it was his natural intuition. He kept his hand on his dagger, now just loosly. He hated surprises. His eyes looked around at his surrounding, he could see nothing out of the ordinary. He remained on the lookout, he was a little wary of the situation.
He knew that there was something nearby, watching them but he didn't want to alert the thing to his knowlege of his prescence. He took his hand from his dagger. He looked at the girl now, wondering if the thing as after her.

[A shadow slitted through the trees. Then another. God, how many of them were there? One seemed to be following the other, as if they'd organized some sort of formation, a plan. Moving quickly but quietly, the man.. men... gave no solid indication of where they were, leaving the two unfortunate 'victims' to glance around and wonder.

All at once, a thick arm roughly seized Nelenna about the waist. Attached to the arm was the rest of the man who had all but materialized behind her. Half a second after she was grabbed, the tip of a blade pressed against her Jugular.

Gerard, unlike the girl, had a clear view of the man, though it was obvious if he tried anything to save her, she would be killed. Besides, he'd seen another shadow, and he had to remain aware. The criminal was a heavyset man, though he obviously had quite a bit of muscle under the layer of fat. Besides, he had a hostage.

The man whispered in Nelenna's ear, his breath warm and reeking of ale.

"We's gonna have some fun, girl..."

He started to say more, then coughed, a few drops of blood falling to the top of his prisoner's breasts. His eyes half-closed and he took a ragged breath, dropping the dagger. The blade fell onto her collarbone, leaving a small gash before clattering harmlessly on the cobblestone path that wound through the garden. Giving one last wheeze, the man toppled over, revealing the dagger which had apparently been forced between two of his vertebrae...

As well as the one who had put it there.
]

Linn frowned at the two, bending calmly to retrieve his dagger.

"You should be more careful. Who knows what could happen at night. Rapists... Vampires."

He smiled, a fang glinting in the moonlight, though it was only visible for a moment. Straightening up, he bowed faintly to both of them.

"Since my appetite is now... ruined..." He took a moment to spit on the man's still-warm corpse. "I will leave you two in peace. Though, I will kill you without hesitation, should you try to follow me."

Flashing another of his disturbing smiles, the young boy, only remarkable because of the porcelain white of his skin, turned. Whistling some tune, he strolled off, almost immediately disappearing into the night.

"You think you can just walk away like that?! You think that you can just...just spy on us, hunt us, then walk away like it never happened!?" Garard said, his face now red with anger. "You vampire! You blight upon society! You go and suck blood from people like us, then think you can just save one person and think that we will just walk away and let you go on your merry way?!" Gerard said, his face still flushed.
He ran over and picked up the dagger from the man's back, it was still crimson with the man's blood. He looked at it, then watched the vampire walk away. Gerard pulled his arm back to throw it, then stopped. The man had threatened to kill them, he knew of the vampiric strength. He threw the dagger to the ground, saving his anger for later.
He walked over to the girl, whom had still not told him her name, and asked, "Are you O.K.?" He asked. He remained on the look out, however. There could be another lurking nearby, waiting for them to go into a false sense of security. He placed his hand on his dagger, he wanted to be cautious. He looked a the girl's wounds, they weren't deep at all, they would heal in a few days. "We need to get out of here it is too dangerous." He said, grabbing her hand and pulling her further away from the gate.

As if the day wasn't already bad already. Stricken with fear she could only look at her savior and wonder why and who he was. Suddenly, flashing his bright fang, she understood. The figure before them was a vampire. She had complete and utter fear, none like she had displayed before. Freezing up while the figured breathed out their words calmly, she gripped the cross as tightly as to leave a reddened mark on her skin.

Ignoring the fact that she was bleeding a bit, and that she had marks on her arms from her previous assailant, she raised her hand up, almost as if she wanted to ask him something, but she already knew the answer. The only reason he was there that night, was because he was waiting for them to finish speaking so he could.. She had a hard time saying this part, even to herself. To think she was so close to death, so close to what she had been
trying to run from for the past day. She would've broken down crying, if it wasn't for the immense amount of strain that had been put on her.

She gave him a blank stare and only replied to him with a, "Mm.." the acknowledgment trailing off as she let him pull her. She willingly let him bring her wherever he wanted, she had no energy to do it on her own, and was partially petrified. It was going to hit soon. The realization that what just happened- actually happened, and it was going to hit hard.
