"You're fast," Ignacio announced with suitable awe. Then he scrambled up higher on the dome to get closer to Riley. Twisting, he surveyed the playground to see where the others were. When he saw no one apparently had any interest in joining Riley and him, he neatly hooked his legs through a gap, bending them tight to the bar. "Watch this!"
Pushing back, Ignacio somehow managed to slip through the gap without hitting his head and stopped, dangling upside down. "How's this?"

"Yep!" she agreed, feeling her chest puff up a bit in pride. She loved her speed-it was the only thing she had over her brothers, since they were all stronger and bigger and stuff. But, that aside, she turned to watch Iggy curiously, wondering what he was up to. When he finally presented himself upside down and without his hands she looked rather impressed, "You look like a bat!"
Then, never one to back down from a challenge, she scooted two bars over and tried to do that same. It wasn't hard for her to fit through the bars, or to get upside down like Iggy. Once there she grinned, looking across at her friend as they both dangled the wrong away above the world, "Woah! This feels funny!" Already the blood was rushing to her head...and much faster then normal, due to the quick pitter-patter of her avian heart.

Taki paused near the door, and turned back towards Dr. Darnell, as if he wanted to say something, and suddenly changed his mind, scampering out the door as well, glancing one last time at the words on the board. He perked up as he remembered what he was going to say, pointing at the words on the board. "Those are all prepositions!" he announced.
And with that, he promptly set to his scampering across the playground; under the swings, up onto the platforms, and he climbed over the top of the monkey bars, balancing carefully if a bit wobbly here and there, around the playground again to climb up to the slide, and down through the plastic tube, before he skittered over to the swings again, standing for a moment before staring up at Manny as she swung back and forth.
"Hey Manny, can I swing with you?"

Manny flashed a grin, glad for the company, "Sure." She nodded her head to the swing beside her, slowing to a stop so she wouldn't accidentally kick him. "If you go fast enough it feels like you're flying," she explained, looking up at the sky, "And I think if you tried hard enough you could go all the way over." Except... That didn't really seem safe. "But you probably shouldn't," she added.

Everyone else seemed to enjoy the playground, Antony thought as he watched them from the blacktop. He shoved his hands into his pockets, looking around for something to waste his time with while they were stuck out there.
Manny was already being pushed on the swings by the cat boy, Riley and the puppy boy were playing on the bars....
Man this sucked.

The world looked very different upside down. It was harder to make out everything, since it was the wrong way, and the effort sort of made her head spin. But regardless of that she peered across the playground. Manny was...going back and forth. Oh! She was swinging, she saw that now. And Taki was pushing her and...she saw a blue blur standing off the side looking still.
"HEY!" She called, the sound ringing in her ears oddly. Was it supposed to do that...? "Antony come climb with-" feeling a huge wave of nausia Riley's legs slid from the bars sending her tumbling head first into the woodchips below. Ouch.

Antony looked over at Riley as she called, his eyes widening as he watched her fall, then he abruptly turned and raced back into the building, far faster than most people had ever seen him move.
"Dr. Darnell! Dr. Darnell! Riley fell on her head!" Which just figured, he thought with a hint of cynicism that didn't reach his face. No doubt the girl had fallen on her head many times before.

Beatrix was already at the door of the classroom; Thwomp had rushed over to Riley and was hovering over her worriedly, spinning in the air before butting gently at the girl's cheek.
"All right," said their maths teacher, picking her way blindly over the playground. "Everybody has five minutes more to find a piece of playground equipment and following one of the direction on it. Antony, for anyone who is done, can you record what direction they did it in on the board?" (Apparently she felt little shame in turning him into a teacher's pet.) Dr. Darnell leant forward over Riley, hands pressing down on her knees. "All right, is the top of your head still on?"

Before she could answer, Ignacio landed in the woodchips with a thump beside the fallen girl and their teacher. Immediately, he sank to his knees beside Riley and wrapped an arm around her shoulder. He held up two fingers solemnly in front of her. "How many, Riley?" he asked.
In a stage whisper like a foghorn, he informed Beatrix, "Dad does this when I fall to make sure my brains aren't scrambled."

"Geeze, I'm ok! I swear!" Riley grumbled indignantly at all the attention. "I've fallen from way worse, no sweat!" Not that that was very reassuring. She sat up, feeling a headache coming on, but nothing more. She blinked at Iggy's fingers and retorted, "Two. I know counting's part of math class but...I'd rather go back up on the monkey bars." She grinned, obviously not discouraged by her fall. Easy words coming from someone so prone to injury.

"You're sure your brains aren't scrambled?" Antony asked, looking EVER so innocently concerned.

"Hopefully this time remembering that hanging from them upside-down will cause all the blood to go to your brain," the teacher said tartly. "New class rule: I only care if you are bleeding heavily or dead. Ignacio, if you could make sure Riley comes back into class in five minutes in neither of these conditions? Yes?" Without waiting for an answer, Beatrix swept back into the classroom. Thwomp, for his part, had settled on Riley's midsection and was doing teeny-tiny cartwheels.

"Yes, I'm sure! This is nothing like the time the twins dropped me off the balcony," she assured Antony, taking his innocence at face value. After all, she had yet to figure out that they boy extremely disliked her. She did her best to sweet Thwomp off her, putting a hand on one of the bars and pulling herself up.
Once on her feet and seemily steady she began to climb on the inside of the dome, obviously not wanting the five minutes to go to waste. "Now come on back up, Iggy! Antony, climb with us before we have to go in!"

"Actually, I think I'll go join Manny on the swings," Antony called back to her. There was no way in hell he was going to fall on HIS head, too.

Moving like a monkey with a slightly overprotective streak, Iggy climbed up fast, keeping right beside Riley all the way to the top. His eyes stayed locked to her obediently even as his hands and feet instinctively picked out the bars he needed. There was no way he was going to piss off Dr. Darnell or let his friend get hurt again!
"Man," he said reverently as he reached out to help Riley stabilize on her perch, "you're tough."
