Rivener hadn't been able to stop Dr K entering the house. Just the thought of getting in the doctor's way brought up visions of being stabbed, pricked with needles, chainsawed... He'd only managed to will himself to move when he realized that Dr K was heading for Eiry's Hiding Closet.
"D...Dr K! P-please don't scare my brother..." He would normally have bodily flung a person away from Eiry, but just because it was Dr K, he couldn't. He simply wrung his hands, which still bled slightly. "L-listen, we need your h-help. There are gh-ghosts here who can h-hurt us," he explained, keeping his eyes down because he couldn't look that mask in the eye, "and E-eiry can touch them, but he can't fight. I, I fight. But I can't touch them." Rivener's fear was leaving as he kept his eyes averted, and he frowned with frustration at remembering how powerless he was. He wanted to protect his family! Dealing with Dr K was a means to do that! He had to be brave!
Looking up, remaining as calm and confident as he could (which wasn't much really), Riv continued. "I need you to do that thing you did with me and Lazarus. Put Eiry's blood in me, and I'll learn a ghost poison that could hurt the ghosts. Please!"
He bowed low, pleading. He knew this wouldn't be easy, especially with Eiry being very afraid, but he would deal with Eiry after Dr K agreed to the plan.

From within the safety of the closet, Eiry could very clearly hear the heavy mechanical breathing of the man standing outside the door. He pushed himself deeper into the closet, as deep as he could actually, but it was difficult to move against all the coats and the stockpile of shoes. Not only that, but his broken wing was slowly waking up, being prickled with the needles of sleep. When Eiry moved back, his wing was pushed into his back by a coat and the minty frei let out a choked squeak of pain.
What if the man with the scary face opened the door? What would he do then? He had no where to run and his brother was too scared to protect him! Wait, no ... Eiry still had a plan. He knew what he'd do if that man opened the door.
Slowly...Eiry curled his hand around one of Aphi's snow boots.

K moved away a little from the closet as he listened to Rivener's plea. Ghosts he say? His ears perked up and he turned his head to look at Rivener, watching his face to make sure that this isn't some sick joke. In his entire life, although K had encountered a lot of weird things but never a ghost. This little trip might be even more interesting than he had expected! He remained still for a while, staring at Rivener through those hollow black glasses as his steady loud breathing echoed the room.
"Okay." he agreed simply, without moving an inch. It eeriely sounded like it wasn't him that said the word. "But tell me more... of the ghost..." he added as he slowly moved away from the closet, understanding that the person inside - Eiry, he presumed, is deathly afraid of him.

Rivener grinned uneasily as Dr K agreed to the plan... But it seemed he would have to explain more of Edgar before Dr K would agree to actually do it. "W-well this place is full of ghosts really. But the only one wh-who is a problem is E-Edgar." He gulped. His mouth felt so dry when he talked to this person... "If you go to th-the graveyard he's usually th-there and he normally tries to kill people... B-but we just threw lots of holy water at him s-so he might not be there right now, he might still be r-r-recuperating."
Riv smiled nervously. He couldn't believe he had successfully said this much to the Doctor. He should continue now before he lost his momentum! "If you help us, you could come back another day and see it... Or if Eiry isn't too scared," he added as he floated over to the closet door so that Eiry would hear him (and also putting himself between Eiry and the Doctor), "he might show you other ghosts around the house; he can talk to them you know. There are lots of friendly ones..."
Riv turned to the closet door slightly and tried to talk to Eiry. "Eiry, you promised you'd do it! I know he's scary, but he won't hurt us like Edgar would... Please! Let him do what he can do to help us, and then you won't have to fight Edgar again, I promise!"

Hearing the soft beckoning call of his brother's shaking voice, Eiry slowly let his hand uncurl from the boot he was planning to chuck at the first person who would open the door of the closet. His body was still trembling like a leaf in a storm and he felt the cold sweat of fear speckle his forehead like dewdrops. Forcing a nervous lump of terror down his throat like a large lump of gooey dumpling, Eiry moved forward and picked himself off the floor with the help of the coats in the closet. Now he felt even weaker than before and his body yearned for the sweet sappy essence of death. Unfortunately, he knew that he wouldn't get what his body wanted until it was safe to go outside. For now, he just had to hold on to what energy he had left and push forward.
And push forward he did. After bracing himself he weakly floated through the door of the closet like the ghosts that haunted the premises. Mass passed through mass, molecules that should have not been able to pass through the solidness of the door floated through as easily as wind would pass through an open window. After floating through, very much like a half-way deflated balloon, Eiry luckily found his big brother right before the door, protecting him from that... that doctor! Even when he was afraid, Rivener was still protecting him! Faith reawakened in Eiry and admiration bloomed in his eyes like blood stains on a white shirt.
"...'ther," the young minty frei bleated.

His gaze immediately fell onto the other minty Frei when it floated past the closet doors. No one could really see it, but his eyes were wide and staring behind the black glasses. So this is how it looks like when ghosts pass through solid substances! He immediately assumed that this Raevan had some sort of ghostly qualities, having an ability like that.
He is more intrigued now than ever, it would be interesting to encounter this sort of paranormal stuff. He nodded, eyes not removing from Eiry. "Yes, it would be interesting... to see the ghosts..." The dangers of Edgar doesn't worry him a bit, but he is worried that if he don't help, Rivener and Eiry won't show him the ghosts.
However, there is another worry on his mind at the moment. "He..." K pointed at Eiry as he spoke, "...looks too weak... for blood transfusion." he said in a monotone voice.

Rivener blinked. He glanced back at his brother, who was indeed quite weak. "Damn!" he swore. "I didn't think of that! Eiry... You have to be in good health for Dr K to be able to do the thing... I'm sorry." Rivener wasn't sure if he was apologizing to Eiry, or to Dr K. He needed to think of a solution!
"Eiry would be much better if he could eat... In the woods, are there many dead plants? I know near the graveyard there are some, but... Is the Deadwood Park the only place where you can eat, Eiry?" Rivener was getting worried that this would all take too long, and Aphi and Isi would return before Dr K left, and then he would have to explain why the Doctor was here... It would be much too complicated to explain to the two humans, and Riv didn't want them to know things that didn't concern them very much.
An evil thought occurred to him, and for a second he glanced sideways at Dr K... if Eiry needed to eat death, maybe Rivener could kill this person and Eiry would make him ok again? GAH! No! Riv snapped his eyes away almost immediately. For some reason the thought of doing that to Dr K made him very afraid, as though he would unleach some kind of monster.

Oh no...The couldn't do the transfusion? And it was his fault? No...That couldn't be. Riv needed his blood so that they could be protected, so he wouldn't have to be weak anymore! They needed to do this now, not later. What if they waited and next time...Next time they couldn't save themselves from Edgar? Eiry wasn't really to take that chance. They had come in contact with him twice before and each time was extremely dangerous. Life threatening, even. If Edgar got to them for a third time, they might not be so lucky.
Eiry forced himself to float higher and he tried to put on as stubborn as a face he could pull. He frowned bitterly at Rivener and at Dr. K, despite that he was still very much afraid, narrowed his eyes and knit his brows together. Eiry's pale face took the mien of a grim warrior, something almost entirely not like himself. In fact, the little brother, didn't look like the sweet little brother he was! His blood red eyes looked frighteningly serious and he stated in a strong low voice, "I can do it. I'm tougher than I look. My blood into Riv and Riv blood into me. I'll be okay. This is much safer than risking it with Edgar again. If he comes again, we might not have a chance."
Then as an afterthought, Eiry glanced at Dr. K (it took a lot of his willpower to keep from blanching and pushing himself into Riv), "And then I can introduce you to the ghosts of the house. I'll introduce you to three here. Right now. If you do this."

Although it seemed like K was staring at the both of them but no one in particular, but he was actually looking at Rivener. Though it was just a small hint and then gone, but he sensed a malicious intent coming from Rivener for a split second just now. He'd always been rather keen on these kind of things, able to notice small details such as a blink of an eye, a small frown or even a small wrinkle. By observing all these little facial expression changes, he could tell the person's true intentions. He made a mental note to try to be more careful around this Raevan, seems like not everyone of them are of good nature. He was however, slightly impressed when Eiry stood up to him. The younger Frei looked so weak just now.
Still haven't moved an inch, he pondered on Eiry's words. Rivener's little expression changes just now was totally oblivious to Eiry, but it did bugged K a little. However, he's still interested with the ghosts. He don't see why he couldn't help them, only if Rivener don't pull any pranks on him though.
"Okay, I'll... do this for you... now." he said, inhaling and exhaling loudly in between words. "Bring me to... a larger space... to do blood transfusion." He waved his work case briefly, jingling all the equipments inside, indicating that he needed somewhere to put the case and prepare for the process.

Rivener blinked over at Eiry, impressed at the amount of strength his little brother had hidden away inside him. A slow grin spread on the Scorpion's face. Eiry wasn't such a sissy after all! Immensely proud of his little Eiry, Rivener found more strength in himself as a result. He had to live up to a higher standard now, if he still wanted to be "big brother".
When Dr K agreed to the procedure, Rivener nodded and motioned to the living room. "We can go to the living room, it's very spacious. Follow me." Rivener floated by the doctor, and led the way to the room in question. When he stopped in front of a couch, he turned and remembered his wounds. "Dr K, Eiry and I are a little banged up... should these be taken care of and bandaged first? Eiry is rather fine, but I still have to remove glass from my hands and bandage them." He proffered the hands, showing the shallow cuts... The wounds had stopped bleeding, showing that they weren't too serious. However, the glass shouldn't be allowed to remain in the flesh.
"Eiry, are you alright?" Riv asked again to be sure. "Is there anything I can bring you to eat?" He was sure most plants in and around the house were alive and well thanks to Eiry, but maybe there was something else he would be able to eat?

If Eiry wasn't stubborn, impractical, and always ready for a challenge, this night might have ended a lot differently. It was a good thing too that Eiry's other personalty quirks somehow outweighed his cowardice. And the way Riv looked a him... Full of pride and astonishment... Eiry felt like he could take on Edgar again, right there and now, even with his numb broken wing slowly awakening. Curling his ghostly bandaged hand around Rivener's sleeve, the young frei weakly wobbled after his brother and the creepy doctor into the living room.
It was when Rivener turned to him with a worried brow that Eiry finally spoke up about his broken appendage, "Only the dead plants, but there aren't any...I can do it," he said bluntly with the same amount of strength of before, then as a weak afterthought, Eiry muttered, "...Can Dr. K look at my..." Eiry twisted himself around slightly in the air so Rivener could see the limp ghostly wing twitching back to life, "...Wing?"

He didn't respond to Rivener's words verbally, but he stared at the hand wounds on Rivener. The memories of the last time he treated these hands were still fresh in his mind, he didn't expect to treat Rivener's hand wounds again so soon.
Plopping his heavy case on the floor, he opened it with a soft click. His equipments are still as stained as before, they looked like they haven't been washed properly in ages. Picking up a pair of tweezers with suspicious dark red stains, he went to work with picking out the glass pieces in Rivener's hands. Although the wounds had stopped bleeding before, but when K pulled out the individual pieces a little blood gushed out from the wounds. Still, K worked on it mercilessly, until all the glass pieces were removed from the hand. Then he took out an ancient looking tiny glass bottle from his case and popped it open. Pouring a little of the iodine onto a large chunk of cotton, he half dabbed and wiped the iodine over the glass wounds. After that he picked up a roll of clean white bandages safely tucked in his case, greatly contrasting the rest of it's contents. With great care, he wrapped the clean bandage over the hands.
During the entire process, he didn't spoke a word at all, he just stayed quiet; well not exactly quiet, since his breathing is rather loud and creepy. When he was done with Rivener, he turned to Eiry and his wing, but he just stayed there and stared at the wing. After a minute of what seemed to be quiet thinking, he finally spoke. "Not sure... how to treat this wound." he paused for a while as he spoke. "Never treat... pets before." He was referring to pet birds of course, but he wasn't sure if the both of them got what he meant.

Rivener, not wanting to distract the doctor in his work, had tried to stay as quiet as he could. He winced and hissed softly at a few of the larger, more tenacious glass shards, and he did shake almost visibly at being man-handled by some mad-doctor looking guy from a horror film, but he remained still enough to let Dr K do his job. Once the bandages were on, Riv breathed a sigh of relief and tucked his hands away behind his back, eager to forget all about them.
When Dr K spoke again, Riv frowned for a moment, before realizing that Dr K meant the wing was not a human-like appendage, and therefore he'd never treated it before. Rivener's lips turned down sadly and he floated to Eiry. "He mostly works on human parts I guess. WE could take you to a vet after this, maybe? They would know more about wings... Or, if he's not too busy, Dr Tsu. Can you hold on? Do you need me to sting you again?" Although he didn't like using so much poison on his brother, if that's what Eiry wanted, he would do it.

The only way to describe the way Eiry stared at the doctor as he nit-picked on Rivener's hands, was to say that he goggled at Dr. K as if he were watching his favorite episode of Ghost Hunters. That was the only time Eiry would dare watch the TV and even so he did it from a distance, blockaded and protected by a couch, a cardboard box, a blanket and his lantern. When the commercials came on he usually ducked his head behind his makeshift cover and dug his nose into Edgar Allen Poe's Complete Works. Digressing back to Eiry's open eyed, open mouthed stare, the frei blinked back to reality when the doctor turned to him and gave a defeated sounding sentence. Eiry didn't really understand what the doctor said, so, judging by the sound of his voice, Eiry didn't think that his aching wing was going to get helped. He screwed his mouth into a sad frown. He had heard Isi talking worriedly with Aphi when they cooked with each other. Isi said that he was worried about Eiry's wing because it was taking too long to get a meeting with Dr. Tsu. With every day that passed by, Eiry's wing healed more and more and, without a way to actually fix it, Eiry's wing would heal incorrectly. Already it wasn't hurting as bad as it did the first week after it was broken.
Shrugging and inching towards Rivener as he felt the invisible gaze of Dr. K lock on his form, Eiry nodded his head, "Please." Perhaps if he couldn't feel it, it wouldn't heal and Isi wouldn't worry? Obviously, Eiry didn't understand biology.

K was watching the scene before him silently, saw Eiry asking Rivener to sting him again to dull the pain of the broken wing. And he couldn't help but felt a helpful angel crawled up his back, which is very unusual for him.
He coughed once - which sounded more like an extra loud exhale from the gas mask, half mixed with the strangling quack of a duck's, to grab attention back to him. "Maybe I can... straighten the wing's... bones." he said, voice cracking a little after the forced cough. "Studied... a little... about wing structure... before... but I don't... guarantee... full recovery."
