"Ready?" Silencer called out, stroking the rabbit's head. She made sure King was the one facing her, before releasing the rabbit at Rex's reply.

As the brownish figure bounded past, King breathed out in excitement, and lunged after the rabbit - to his dismay he found he was unable to execute the move. Let me go after it!

The split second exchange over, Rex grinned, and stumbled back a little. Not now, King. King and Rex must be careful, room not big enough for running.

A squearl of annoyance. You sound just like Mom.

Rex ignored that part of the exchange, and was just about to run over to Silencer when he gave a yelp and stumbled backwards suddenly. Instinctively the boy planted a foot behind him and lowered himself, before turning around on the ball of said foot. At the same moment two hands shot out in front of him and fingers touched the floor surface lightly, just enough to catch the boy and rebalance himself. A tail shot straight out behind the boy to even the weight distribution, and Rex let out a breath in relieve, his nose just inches from the clothes closet and the aquarium on it.

King... Rex said no sudden movement! King almost slammed Rex into closet and fish!

King's breath were sharp, and shallow. Boy, he'd have to work on future 'take-overs', that's for sure... That was too close for comfort. So-sorry...

Back in her part of the room, Silencer smiled as she saw her child regaining his balance at the little test she set out after Browns. So it worked after all. 'Perhaps the tyrannosaur does listen to the boy...'

Rex straightened himself out and tested his control of the body. After making sure King would be no sudden jerks in other directions, the boy turned to his mother and smiled at her weakly. "Rex almost failed, Mom..."

Silencer smiled and shook her head, then held out her arms to her child. "No, big guy. You passed. Come here~"

Rex smiled, and ran over to his mother. Unknown to him, Silencer had, once again, executed another trick. This time, she conjured up another prehistoric creature - a gallimimus hatchling about the size of a large rooster. Right in front of King.

The young tyrannosaur froze at the sight of the new creature. Somehow it seemed a familiar face, and the reptile chirped, before notifying his twin of the sudden appearance of the little dinosaur. No more lunges this time. He did not want another close shave like what happened earlier, and decided, surprisingly, to play safe and, like his twin said, careful. Rex. Rex. Look...

What is it this time?
Strange thing.

The boy turned around slowly, being careful not to make any sudden movements. At the sight of the young gallimimus Rex blinked, and stared down at it in amazement. A mini King!

Both Rex and King felt a strange sensation rising up from inside. It was something like his stomach boil and bubble at a fast rate, spreading trought the rest of the body
Suddently King let out a roar, while Rex yelled (a 'warrior type' one). Their whole body vibrated, which strangely made the first sensation to fade away completely

As they stoped yelling and opened his eyes, Rex noticed something strange. The room looked a lot smaller than before!

A flying dove origami zoomed around the corridors, making its way towards Rex's room at top speed. It didn't even stoped once it met the door, just going through it like it was made of air
It only haulted its mad flight once it bashed against King's head and on the ground
One of the sides was written and once opened it read

Flying Note
We are very pleased to know you reached the child stage. This will be a very important phase of your life as you will soon find out
Please report to the infirmary for a check up and discover your elemental alignment

-- :: King discovers a new voice :: --

Date: November 20, 2005
Location: Rexier Gaver's room
Time: Morning yet again >->

---------- :: ~ :: ----------

Rexier Gaver's breathing was quick and shallow when he opened his eyes. The child snapped his eyes shut again and shook his head, trying to clear the persistent ringing voice in his ears and head. As he felt it slowly retreating, the boy opened his eyes slowly, and peered around his rom through half opened eyes. "Oh... Rex feels strange... Mother, you feel good?"

At the same time King growled and snapped at the rings, before letting out another roar in annoyance. Surprised at the new voice coming out from himself, the tyrannosaur went silent, rumbling away in curiosity.

Rexier's guardian had, all the time, covered her poor ears at the sudden commotion to prevent them from going bad. As soon as she felt things had settled down, she removed her hands only to find King testing out, to his delight, a louder, deeper, and more powerful(well, at least than before) voice.

"Yes I'm alright, honey!" the woman shouted, her small voice barely audible before King. "Can you.. Can you get King to quieten down, Rex?

"WHAT?"

The guardian gritted her teeth as another wave of roars rang through the room - and possibly, through the HQ. Not being able to stand it any longer, she held up a hand, and casted a silencing spell on the room - and King.

"Whoo, finally!" As King blinked and squealed in bewilderment at the sudden lack of sound, Silencer heaved a sigh of relieve, and stepped back to properly study her charge.

What met her eyes was something thoroughly unexpected - the figure before her was tall. Very, very tall, for a kid. As her eyes met Rex's, she smiled. "My my. You've sure grown much, my child."

.. -- Check up! -- ..

Location: Infirmary [Blue Area]
Participants: Silencer, Rex 'n King, Maggie

---------- :: ~ :: ----------

Silencer felt at the top of the world - Rex had grown, and big! She was excited, yes, but her among her overjoyed emotion lies a small hint of worry at her child's size, and perhaps King's temperament. Oh well, she'd deal with those later. Right now, the more important thing was the appointment with the mishap staff in the infirmary. "Come on hun, we mustn't be late!"

A tall, tall figure loped along behind his mother, lowering his head a little to avoid knocking it on the ceiling. The figure was far from being supremely overjoyed- rather he was finding his height quite bothersome-- okay, the ceilings were.

"Is there no way to make the ceiling higher, Mom? My neck's starting to hurt..." Rex whined, slowing down to match the smaller guardian's pace. Though he was complaining, it was undeniable that he, too, was excited.

"Just bear with it for a while, m'kay, hun? We'll ask Jabir about it later. Alright, here we are!" The woman stopped in front of the infirmary door - or at least she thought it was, and knocked on the door. "I wonder what your allignment'll be... don't you?"

"'Course I do! Can't wait to find out!" Rex nodded, grinning. While waiting for an answer the child massaged his soring neck, and hoped that the ceiling of the infirmary would be higher that the ones here.

Maggie opened the door, beaming at them "I've been waiting for you. Come in, come in". She motioned Rex towards the bed near the wall and Silencer to a chair nearby
She gave a good look at Rex and King "You've done a lot of growing since I last saw you. It's hard to believe you're already a kid"

Silencer smiled and nodded to Maggie, before motioning for Rex follow. "Thank you, Maggie. It has been a long time, hasn't it?" She smiled warmly, and glided towards the chair.

"Hello!" Rex chirped, ducking his head and entering the room. "Maggie. Sis" The boy added, picking up the friendly lady's name from his mother, adding in a 'sis' to avoid himself from sounding rude. His memory of Maggie was vague, but he felt very at ease with her. The child took his place on the bed, and beamed down at her. "Yes, Rex has grown very much, even taller than Mom!"

King too was feeling very relaxed, rumbling away happily even when he was denied a proper view of the room, and made to face the wall instead.

"It has, but you both are looking great" she smiled at them, before turning to Rex "I don't find that surprising, considering your origins. And I bet you will have a lot more to grow before you reach adulthhood" she winked

"Well what about that check up? We should get started or we won't do the aligment test before tomorrow!" she said as she went to pick the equipment

"Thank you. You look great yourself!" Silencer smiled, and turned in her chair to face Rex and Maggie.

"Really?! Rex grow bigger still?" the boy asked, slightly aghast but still amazed at the same time. "But Rex will be more taller than ceiling by a lot then! Neck and back will break..."

Rex shuddered at the thought, and watched curiously as Maggie went to pick up her equipments.

"Well I still haven't met anyone that kept the same size since childhood" Maggie said playfully while she took a stethoscope from the kit

"But Jabir can take care of that problem easily. Plus the house will suffer and expansion pretty soon, so you will no longer have a problem with ceillings by then... at least for a good while" she replied as she heard Rex's heartbeat and breathing

"Ah really? Good then..." Rex nodded, and took a sharp intake of breath as the cold surface of the stethoscope made contact with his chest. Soon his breathing returned to normal as the child began to relax.

"Yes, there will be lots of new stuff for you to explore" she said excited as she now proceded to check his eyes

Rex shifted a little as his eyes were being checked. Pupils dilate as a beam of light was shone into them.

"Really? Methinks Rex will love the... expansion then," the boy said, catching Maggie's excitement. Silently though, he wondered what the word meant, but it sounded great, so he just shrugged it off, flicking the tip of his tail left and right.

"Yes, really" she smiled as she now inspected the tiny holes that were his ears. Not seeing anything abnormal, she now turned to King "Well lets see how this lil rascal is doing. Can you please open your mouth sweety?"

King stared down as Maggie appeared suddenly in his field of vision and rumbled, blinking questioningly at the lady. "Hrr?"

Your mouth. Open it, King. She wants to see inside.

Enlightened, the young tyrannosaur dropped open his jaws, revealing rows of razor sharp teeth. Strands of saliva hung from the top jaw to the lower here and there, but went away soon enough.

Maggie gazed carefully at the teeth and didn't liked the result much "I think we have a little problem. If King doesn't start getting his teeth brushed soon his gums will start to swell and leave him quite moody"
She looked at Silencer "It happens a lot around predators. I believe that's what makes some of them so dangerous"

She turned to King again, checking his throat before proceding to his eyes. As she waved her finger for him to follow, she noticed some loose skin where both heads connected
"Odd!" she muttered "Rex, can you please move your head sideways?"

"Oh dear, I was afraid of that..." came the reply. The woman sighed, and shook her head. So that was the cause of King's weird behaviour lately... she had thought of other things, but never anticipated this.

"I'm sorry, to have been a neglectful guardian," Silencer said, going a shade of pink. Running a finger along a healing scar on her right wrist, the woman continued, "He's been an absolute devil around the toothbrush and toothpaste, so I... I'm really, really sorry."

Obediently and without question, Rex tilted his head sideways for Maggie.

"If you were truly neglectful King would have his first cavities by now, which is not the case," she winked in a friendly manner. "Maybe you should reward him everytime he cooperates during brushing."

As Rex moved his head, Maggie kept King still "Just as I thought, your skulls are getting more apart!"

"Thanks, I think I'll start doing just that," replied the guardian, a smile returning to her face.

"Really? Cool!" Rex felt overjoyed at the news, and grinned his broadest. No more having to move heads in unison with King!

King, too, rumbled in joy as the message was relayed to him. No more not being able to see a lot of things!

Maggie could help but smile at the twins reaction, but she wanted to make the situation clear to them. "Yes you should be able to move them seperately up to a certain point, but remember you only have one neck. Your heads are still connected and have a fair amount of flesh between them." She didn't want them to force the muscles and bones too much. The stress on them could cause serious damage.

"Oh." Rex pondered on that, and nodded. "Okay. Rex'll be careful." He smiled and reflected on that, before telling King about it. "King say he'll be careful too, so it's good?"

A lightbulb went off in the child's head just then, and he turned to face Maggie, excitement clearly written on his face. "Letter says Rex find out about allignment thing, can we do now?"

"Yes it's good" she gave a small laugh, happy for their carefulness.

"Not yet. I just need finish checking your joints and tail" she continued the check up, now running her hands over King's arms, before looking at Rex's. She did the same with the legs, feet an tail before announcing "Well, it seems perfectly normal. Except for King's teeth you are doing just fine"

Storing her equipment back into place and opening the door, she said "We must go to the office for the alignment test. Please just follow me"

"Awesome!" Rex said, testing out a word he heard his mother use frequently. The boy then hopped off the bed and ran over to his mother as Maggie put away her equipments.

"Alright. Awesome." Silencer smiled, and got to her feet. Together the two headed out of the door, nodding a thanks to Maggie for opening the door for them.

.. -- The same day: Allignment Test -- ..

Location: Jabir's Office [Blue Area]
Participants: Silencer, Rex 'n King, Maggie, Jabir

---------- :: ~ :: ----------

Maggie walked them trough the corridor and knocked on the office door and opened it "After you"

Jabir was sitting behind the desk, pointing them the 2 chairs in front of him as they entered. Maggie sat on the one beside him
"It's a pleasure to see you both after such a long time. I believe you finally reached the age to know your alignment yes?" he looked at Rex, smiling warmly

"Before we proced with the test I first need to explain to you what the alignment really is" he took a box containing 10 stones an put them on the table one by one
"As you might know the alignment test will tell you what type of magic you are most capable of. Each of this stones represents an element: Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Light, Shadow, Space, Mind, Gravity and Time. There are more but these cover just about everything" as he said their names, each started to glow

"Some people only have one element, other have 2 or more. Their combination can either create a combo or allow that person to control both. And some combos, like poison, are the same despite the different combined elements"
"It's very hard to determine what type of combos a person can do if he gets more than one element. Usually the best way is to check which of the elements he's stronger and train from that point on"

"Also there are the cases of a person not being able to perform anything at all. That usually happens when a person doesn't have enough power to cast magic. The probability for that to occur gets bigger as more elements a person belongs to"
"But determining your alignment is always useful to know which types will be less effective on you. Rare is the case someone having a weakness in the same alignment they obtain"

Jabir made a small pause to allow Rex to absorve the information properly before proceding
"And there also oppositions and ranges to consider. For example most people think a fire elemental would be vulnerable to water, but that doesn't always apply. It would depend a lot of the controlling range that person would have over his element and other factors like physical abilities"

He picked a lighter, the same he used on Deimos's alignment test, and shaped it into a mass of hot, boiling metal "As you can see my range allows me to control the flame inside the lighter, despite me being a full Space type and not having any power over fire. A skilled fire elemental could do the same to water if he could heat it enough into vapour, making it harmless" he changed the mass back into a lighter "But off course this would depend a lot on the person he would be facing and respective abilities"

"Well that's about it. Any question?"

Both figures just sat in the respective chairs well after Jabir's last sentence was made, staring at Jabir. Everything he had just said; all the info about the allignments, control, combos... swam around in their head. Well, all except King's of course.

The young tyrannosaur, while having his twin listen to the long, boring speech(to him, at least - he could not make neither head nor tails out of all these human speech), took the opportunity to rip open on the back of the chair. Presently, pleased chirps and squeals, could be heard in a barely audible mumble from the large reptile as he continued tearing through the cloth and attacking the plush cushion underneath with tiny tyrannosaurus claws.

It was Silencer who broke the silence. Not noticing what destruction King had, and was still doing beside(and behind) her, she leaned forward in her chair and sat up. "Well, I do have some, if you don't mind me asking."

"Since my son is somewhat of a 'double' being, with him being a twin; if he received an allignment or two or more, will King be able to execute tricks, spells and the likes too?"

There was a pause, as Silencer contemplated on the next question. The answer might be somewhat obvious, but she still was curious. "Will King have any... 'magic' in him, or will he just stay true to being a 'normal' t-rex with none at all?"

Rex's mind swirled some more, with Silencer's questions added in. Reached a hand up to his head and scratched at a non-existant itchy spot, glancing from Jabir to Maggie and back to Jabir again.

Neither noticed, still, what evil deeds King had done unto the poor chair.

Jabir noticed King's little chair killing, but instead of stopping him he decided to make things more interesting by making the stuffing inside the T-rex's mouth slowly inflate. "This should keep him entertained," he thought.

"I don't think he will. Despite being a Magical Mishap tyrannosaurus aren't magical creatures, so he'd need to know what he's doing and focus a lot on the purpose of the spell to cast magic. Just like humans."

Jabir continued, "But having a magical origin it will probably boost some of his abilities. We can't be certain until we know the alignment and power level."

King let out a sudden, short squeal-chirp of surprise as he felt his mouth beginning to fill up. The tyrannosaurus snorted and tried to expel the material from his mouth, sticking out his tongue and trying to scrap the stuffing off with the teeth in his upper jaw. To his surprise, the thing stuck fast, and further attempts at removing it were nothing but a waste of time, and effort.

The dino then retracted his tongue and worked on simply chewing the material into bits and pieces. If he could, that is.

"I see, I see..." Silencer nodded and smiled, especially at the last answer. This should be interesting to find out. "Thank you."

Rex fidgetted in his seat, and finally voiced out his thoughts. "Can we find my allignment now?" the boy asked aloud suddenly, not being able to contain his excitement and curiosity any much longer. "No more talkings?"

Jabir reversed the stuffing's expansion, preventing King from causing any more destruction to the material.

"Sure thing Rex. This will only take a second." He grabbed the stones and displayed them in a circle on the floor.
"Done. Just step in the middle of the circle and concentrate. As soon as you reach your mental focus the stones will tell your alignment."

Victory! King spit out the stuffing, scraping some stubborn ones off his tongue. He then glared down at the chair and huffed, before turning his attention elsewhere - hey, another tall guy and shiny stones on the floor!

Then, like always, the tyrannosaurus was jerked away from the sights a moment later.

Rex grinned and got up to follow Jabir. Once he was done arranging the stones on the floor, the mishap stepped into the circle, careful not to step on, nor throw them out of allignment. Once inside, the boy made sure his tail - and any part of King(his head especially) was not out of the boundary and closed his eyes. Questions from his twin entered his mind almost immediately, and it took the boy quite a lot of effort to explain, then quieten the tyrannosaur down.

Finally, with King calmed and satiated with explanations, Rex's mind finally cleared.
King, curious, followed suit and struggled to empty his mind - a thing he had never done before. Surprisingly he succeeded, and it wasn't long before Rex and King stood motionless in the middle of the circle.

Silencer, meanwhile, turned around in her seat and watched the going ons. At the rare sight of an immobile King, she smiled.

As soon as they reached their focus all stones stoped glowing, except for 2. A third one still went on and off for a while, but soon it's light completely died down.

"You can open your eyes now. Just pick up the glowings ones to know your alignment," Jabir said, pondering a bit before continuing, "and that one too." He pointed to the one that had been flashing before.

Slowly, Rex opened his eyes as told by Jabir. He stood where he was for a while, blinking out the blurryness in his his eyes before making his way to the two glowing stones. A hand reached down and touched said stones lightly.

Obediently, the child approached the non-glowing stone Jabir had pointed out and touched it too.

When Rex's fingers touched the stones surface, a carving appeared in each of them, including the not glowing one.
"Earth and Time," Jabir translated the first 2 ones. "And apparently you have a slight relation to Gravity," he pointed to the 3rd one.

He went up to his desk to pick a round stone table with 10 holes and gave it to Rex. "Put the stones in the holes and hold this firmly. It will tell you power level."

3 light columns apeared over the stones. Earth's was the tallest one, closely followed by Time but neither particularly high. Gravity's was barely visible.
"Hmm... you're quite balanced. But as for the 3rd one," Jabir pointed to Gravity's collumn, "I don't think you can do much with it. You'd have to work a lot on it to obtain real results, just as for the other elements you didn't get."

"But lets see your power level." As he spoke the 3 columns merged into a large single one, as large as the whole table. It's height wasn't very big though
"Normal. You probably are more of a resistant than an actual magic user."

"Resistant?" Rex asked, his eyes never once left the table and the columns.

"It's how you call a person with the ability of resisting to magical effects. They're not very common but Earth elementals always had a bigger chance." Jabir took the table from Rex's hands and put all the stones in their box.

"It's because of Earth's conductive power, the ability to drain or expel energy to the soil. Antaeus' myth is a good example," Maggie replied to Jabir's unfinished sentence. "Not all Earth elementals can do it, prefering to explore a more destructive approach."

Silencer smiled from her seat, and relaxed against it. Na-ice...

Rex nodded, watching the stones and table as they were being kept away. Looking up to Maggie and Jabir, he asked, "Sounds cool. So how do I do that? How can I resist and..." A pause. Then in a suddenly serious and intent voice very much unlike Rex, "Drain magic."

It wasn't destructive and the offensive sort, but the whole thing sounded powerful just like that. He liked it.

Silencer shuddered just then, feeling slightly uneasy at her charge's tone.

"Practice and lots of determination," Maggie replied. "You should start with simple things like a pebble hitting your hand."
She paused before daring to continue. She needed to be careful on what she was about to tell him. "But absorbing magic is something you shouldn't try doing, not until you're older and fully able to deal with other types of energy."

Jabir carried on with the explanation, seeing Maggie was having difficulty to find the right words. "Absorbing too much energy into your body can be harmful and one can easily lose control if he's not careful." His tone was calm but serious. Dealing with a sudden blast of energy was something he didn't want to do.
"The best way to prevent that is to free the energy once you're close to your limit. But you have to be careful while doing that too or you can end up fainting... or worse."

"In other words, you have to be extra careful while absorbing or you will end up hurting yourself and others around you."

"And it gets even worse if you try to drain someone instead of just absorving a blast. While you're doing that you don't have a chance to free the energy you're absorving and it's hard to stop the process. As a result most end up dead!" he added. Actually there was a way to contradict that but it would be unwise to tell Rex right now.

Rex started a little at the explanation - looks like this magic stuff would be harder than he thought. Suddenly pebble throwings sounded much, much safer, and the boy contemplated on other things which would not end him up dead.

"No, no draining magic. Nor absorbing 'em." At least not now.

Half asleep all this while, it was King who decided they had enough of this much too formal and buildingy place. The t-rex suddenly let out an ear-splitting roar, followed but short and low, rumbling barks. He would not stop, no sir, until he was out of the office. That should get him out of the place.

Silencer almost jumped out of her skin at the sudden noise. She shot to her feet, her hands covering her ears. There we go again. The guardian cast a silencing spell on the tyrannosaur, before turning to Jabir and Maggie. "Sorry about that. King... I think he wants to go now."

Throwing a swift glance at the now-thrashing reptile, Silencer continued, "Are there anything else Rex and I should take note of?"

Both Jabir and Maggie had to cover they ears until Silencer finished casting the spell. "Thank you Silencer." Maggie said.

Jabir, who was making faces while he tried to recover his hearing, didn't reply. He was annoyed when he realized Maggie was trying not to laugh at him, so he turned his back at them.

"Don't mind him, he's always a bit sensitive when it comes to his hears... in more than one way." Maggie could help to giggle a bit at the situation.

"Only about Rex's education. We don't have enough kids around to hire a teacher, so a good part will have to be taught by you. Writting, reading and composition... and math if possible. As for the magic he can come to me for help if he needs to, since I'm part Earth elemental as well."

"Welcome."

Silencer bit her lips together, trying hard not to laugh herself. She had caught sight of Jabir's faces, and.. well, let's say you don't get to see such expressions everyday.

"Not at all," the guardian replied, holding back the laughter. I shouldn't think they'd be any problem, education-wise. I know certain someone who would make a great teacher." Silencer nodded, smiling.

"Pssh, I can read and write fine!" Rex spoke up suddenly(which was untrue, of course), turning away a little. No way would he waste time on these kind of stuff, when he could go play b-ball with the others and work on his magic. "But yeah, I'd love to come to Maggie for help with magic. Anytime."

"So, I guess that's everything then?" Silencer took Maggie's hand and shook it warmly. "Thank you, Maggie. Jabir. For your time." Taking a step back the woman gave a slight bow, before making her way towards the door. Come, Rex!"

"Coming! Thank you Maggie Sis, Jabir sir. See you sometime!" The boy bowed too, and trotted in his mother's direction.

"That's all. If there's any changes we'll tell you." She turned to Rex, "I hope to see you again once you manage to absorve pebble impact then."

Jabir was still with his back turned, still trying to recover his hearing.

Rex paused, readjusted the pencil in his hand, and continued scribbling on a piece of writing paper. Occasionally he would stop, pick up the eraser and rub away on unsatisfactory areas of his work before continuing the scribbling. The child was bent over so, that his nose was centimetres away from the paper. His concentration, intense.

Silencer, on the other hand, was lying on her belly on the bed, reading up on Earth Elemental Magic to familiarize herself with such an element. Beside her were two books, each containing information on Time and Gravity respectively. Occasionally the guardian would throw a glance or two at King, who seemed to be rather content gnawing away on an indestructible blue egg given to him by a mysterious figure.

"And..." Scribble scribble erase scribble. "DONE!" Rex held out his assignment to his mother, grinning widely. His grin went even wider as she nodded , reading it.

"Mm, not bad."
Super wide grin. Rex positively beamed down at Silencer.
"Ah, but hang on..."
Okay, grin faded. "It's not good, Mother?" Rex asked, shoulders drooping.
"Oh no no no. It's good enough, for your age. Very well done, in fact. Good grammar. Except..."
"Except what?"
"Your spelling, and language usage."
"Oh..."

Just then, the doorbell buzzed. Once, twice, thrice. "Ah, that must be your new teacher. Coming!" Silencer jumped out of the bed and headed towards the door, leaving Rex staring warily after her. A new teacher? Sounded daunting.

The child now stared at the door, all tensed up. As soon as it opened, a small bird, about the size of a crow, fluttered in and perched herself on Silencer's shoulder, rubbing against her neck affectionately. Ah, the teacher's got a pet bird. And a pretty one at that. Rex craned his neck to see his new educator and was fairly surprised when the door was closed behind Silencer. Confused, the child blinked up questioningly at his mother. Where was teacher?

Silencer only laughed at her charge's confused look. She grabbed the affectionate bird of paradise gently off her shoulder and placed it on the bed before the child. "Rex. Meet Leyrandia, my gaian angel and your new teacher."

Date: December 22, 2005
Location: Shorefront [Criffelance Castle]

It was a beautiful day in the Castle, and its surrounding area. Despite it being 'wintertime' in other parts of the world, this particular place was experiencing quite a different climate. Songbirds sang in the spring-like weather, disturbed once or twice by the occasional passing of an eagle overhead.

The lush vegetation surrounding the Castle grounds were rich and green, as they had and would always be all year. The fjord seemed to have been dug out from an oil painting by magic, a picture of pure serenity.

A huge streak of brown and tan rushed past the songbird orchestra, effectively shutting them up for quite some time. Several other figures bounded after it, though a few strayed off into the forest, while a couple of others... turned right around and headed back where they came from.

"Mom! Unc--" Rex stopped, biting his tongue at the sharp glare from the gryphon beside his mother. "Uh, Gryff!" At its huff and nod, the boy grinned, and ran the remaining distance towards the two figures.

"Hey Rex! Taking a break from Andi's classes?" The girl on the bowsprit waved to the mishap, grinning. Giving the ropes one final tug, Silencer got to her feet and tottered her way back to the deck, before leaning against the wooden railing.

"Yah. Andi says she needs a break, 'specially from King," came the answer. Rex grinned as Silencer smiled and shook her head, then returned her wave and turned his attention to Gryffenc who was standing a good way away from the sloop, a frown on his face.

"Hi Gryff." Rex beamed down at him, then followed the gryphon's actions.

'Hey Rex, King.' Gryff nodded to the boy, before returning his attention to the ship. 'So, this is for the Deimos guy that day, right?'

"Yep."

'What color'd he like? Purple?' As he spoke the ship's 'wings' turned purple, followed by the sails and other decorative parts of the ship.

"Ouch."

'Indeed. Red?' Fwoosh. Red sails and all. 'N-ope.'

"Try purple and black, and gold," Silencer suggested helpfully, suddenly appearing between Rex and Gryff.

'Alright.' A black bowsprint and wing, purple webs for the wing, gold decor and sails appeared a moment later. 'Nice, 'cept for the sails.'

"Yeah."

"How 'bout brown-foggish colored sails?" Rex chirped in, narrowing an eye disapprovingly at the sails. "Y'know, like the color of very old letters, but not so yellowish."

'Sounds good. Let's see how it looks.' In no time at all, the sails changed color once again. This time, all three figures let out a soft 'aaah', and nodded approvingly in unison.

"It's beautiful..."

'Can't say it's not. Though the wings... didn't your friend have little red wings on his head?' The gryphon asked, turning his head to Rex.

"Eyebrow wings. Yep, they're red in color."

'Red it is then.'

~Gift Giving~

Rabid, being hurried along by a rather tired Liam, quickly tore Silencer and Rex's presents off the stack and threw them as gently as possible at the door. A small note fluttered down, tossed haphazardly by Ike. This gift-giving was a lot harder than everyone made it look!

The Note
Silencer, your gift is a very traditional one for the Vavvian people. In Mei-Vaar, only one holiday is celebrated. This holiday is called "En Ai'aleth" which roughly translated to "The Day of Giving". For months before this day, the Vavvian gem shops are horribly busy. The people are buying the an'raei; gems that can be filled with most anything and set in jewelry. This traditions allows for each Vavvian to give and recieve a different an'raei each year. According to legend, the an'raei are enchanted and set a charm correspondinding to the meaning of the an'raei on its owner. It seems to be fairly true. Your an'raei can be strung onto a chain to be worn as a necklace or just placed around to look cool. Yours and only yours symbolizes patience...not that you need any! Compared to most, you're a god blessed saint! I wasn't sure if Rex would already have one of these things, but what harm can one more do? We've gotta make a playdate again soon! I've seen your boy around and...well...wow. See you!
