He actually approached and took Maya into his arms. "Wow..maybe he does have a heart" she thought. Namine shifted her mutation hoping that what she wanted to do would work for her. She changed halfway from her fox form into her human form. She rose from her haunches onto her legs the hair around her body shortening as the hair in her had elongated. With her body being concealed by the fur, Namine picked up her clothes and changed into them. Once she was fully dressed she reverted completely leaving only the ears and tail. Namine smiled at the bundle in his arms and walked forward placing a kiss on her head. She looked up at Shinsei her dark eyes centering on his " I owe you one...thanks for everything..as you can see im feeling much better" Namine's tail moved back and forth fanning the air around her. She moved her hand up to tuck her hair behind her ear. "We never introduced our selves properly my name is Namine..Namine Ayano" she kept her voice as low as possible trying not to wake Maya and hoping Shinsei wouldn't ruin the good mood she was in.

After she nodded at his question and thanked him, Kiyoko went into town. He's so nice...too bad the war is keeping everyone on the edge of their nerves. She stopped at a sort of shop, and bought some bread and fruit using her own money. The guy who worked there also knew Shinsei, and pointed out the direction to where he lived.
Upon entering the small building, there wasn't much. Various metal trinkets and objects lay about the room, and there were two beds: one that was obviously used recently but unmade, and another one that was a bit smaller, with a few objects on it. I guess I'll use this smaller one, I don't wanna overstay my welcome. she thought. After eating some bread and drank some water from her newly filled canteen, she unmade the smaller bed. Now having a full on headache, she took off her shoes and lay down in her clothes (for they were the only ones she had with her, but they weren't really dirty) and tried to relax her mind. I really need to repay him somehow, he's been so kind. Even though I am just a stranger to him. It didn't take long for her to fall into a deep sleep, her wings wrapping around her slightly.

"Nah, you don't owe me anything...I do what I can, whatever I can, whenever I can. These people...and others need someone they can count on at some point, when people grow up with nothing, all they have is each other." he said as he looked down at Maya and smirked slightly, his violet hair fluttering in the breeze a bit. "I found her during one of my salvage runs...unlike some others, her parents died naturally from the harsh environment. So I brought her here...and raised her for the past 2 years..." he said calmly before sighing slightly. "I'm taking her home...then I'm heading to the square." he said calmly before turning around and walking away, but stopped for a moment. "It's a pleasure to meet you...Namine, but when I gave you my name...that was my whole name. Some people call me Shinsei Anbu, but I don't really have a full name...so just call me Shinsei, alright?" he said as he walked along back towards the city slowly.

Namine smiled as he walked away maybe there was more to him that meets the eye. So he was the leader of this town, the one they turned to when in need. She could understand the need for them to help each other. After all this place was devastated and she figured more so by the appearance of the knights. She could only imagine the horrors he'd witnessed. Namine saw Shinsei in a brand new light. I mean he raised Maya for 2 yrs, she thought, and she is a sweet girl. Maybe I did misjudge him, she thought while kicking up dirt. Namine decided she wanted to get to know him more, her curiosity always got the better of her. She moved to catch up with him slowing down when she was beside him. She snuck a peek at him from the corner of her eyes and supressed a grin. Maybe he was a big softee. She had to admit he looked appealing holding Maya in his arms his features softened to normalcy. Namine broke the silence "Do you mind if I hang with you for bit? Its not like I have anything better to do.." She said wondering if he would shoot her down or say yes.

As her mind was in a deep sleep, memories started to fill her brain. She was on a trip with her parents to the beach, and it was the first time she saw the ocean. The clear, crystal ocean, where a whole different breed of life lay beneath the waters, and the sunset was as beautiful as ever. "One day, I'm gonna see the whoooole ocean for myself!" She remembered declaring at the age of 5.
Apparently, her wish came true about 16 years later, in a strange twisted kind of way. She was now flying high above the ocean. The waters seemed endless, a forever abyss in every direction. "Well, guess I finally got my wish" she remembered thinking. But the sunset was worth it: the sunrise and sunset was worth the whole 3 day flight. It filled the sky with a never-ending hope, and brought an untold beauty to the world. Despite teh fact the long flight was not easy, flying with the segalls and watching the dolphins leap out of the water seemed to edge her to go on. Flying in the sunrise and sunset, with animals taht didn't reject her...

Looking to her as she ran up next to him and asked if she could tag along with him for a while, at first a look of curiousity set in before he shrugged and answered. "I suppose so, if you want." he said as when he entered town, he got a couple of odd looks and realized how strange it must've seemed for him and Namine to be walking through town with this little girl in his arms. Wincing slightly at the thought of what others might be thinking, he tried to hide his confusion as he stopped infront of his home. So out of place it seemed, like the little house of a kind in the huge desolated city. The outside looked slightly run down and crappy, but it was the place he called home as he stepped up to the door and opened it before holding the door open with his foot as he moved forward so Namine could get in as well.
It didn't take long to notice the other girl had made her way here and was already asleep on the other bed, the larger one was really Maya's because in all honesty he didn't sleep here often. His room was the living room area with the dusty fold out couch and he slept in the corner like a dog. It wasn't for any particular reason more than comfort, but it really would bring his respect quotient down a couple of points if anyone saw him sleeping in a corner and giving up his bed to a little girl. "I see that other girl made it safely...tha's good." he said as he lay Maya down on the bed lightly and pulled the blankets over her and pulled off her shoes, sitting them against the wall, he picked up a small teddy bear and placed it in her arms before tucking her in lightly and kissing her lightly on the forehead. Standing up, he exited the room slowly and gripped the door with one hand, taking one last look at the girl before closing the door.
"She should sleep for a while now...she seemed to have grown attached to you." he said calmly before sitting down on the couch and opening a cooler nearby and pulling out a couple of drinks. Truth be told, he'd been to the city above a few times, picking up a few things here and there before making it back to town without being noticed. But how he did it was his little secret... "Want a soda? Fresh from the new world." he joked a bit at the fact that he had stolen them from the grand city above.

Namine walked along towards the city with Shinsei. He had actaully agreed to let her hang out with him. He probably thought she was needy now.."Wait" she thought "Why the hell should I care anyway?" They entered the city and Namine scanned the area. Every one was staring at them weirdly. Namine thought it was because they considered her an outsider and didn't approve of Shinsei being around her. Namine muttered under her breath "I really don't see why they are staring..im the same as them, only difference is im new to this city." Namine snuck a peek at Shinsei her dark eyes scanning his face. He seemed confused and she wondered why. She would ask him later but for now she followed his lead.
It seemed that they had reached their destination. Like any other place it was run down but with what little these people had, these homes must have seemed like a blessing. Namine followed Shinsei inside as they headed to the room where she assumed Maya slept. She noticed a girl sleeping her wings slightly covering her small frame. Namine couldn't help herself and looked at Shinsei suspiciously. He muttered something about the girl being safe but Namine was more interested in her surroundings. She was beginning to realize that this was his home as well and not just Maya's. The frown that she wore on her face from her suspicion softened as she realized she admired him somewhat for taking care of Maya. In only a short time Namine and Maya had become fast friends..Namine knew it was because Maya was a child and Namine had been alone for so long she needed a friend. She smirked..Shinsei probably thought she was a little girl. She looked younger than what she was which could possibly be a side effect of her mutation. She didn't really know. She watched as Shinsei put Maya to bed and they both left the room, Shinsei closing the door softly behind them.
Shinsei told her that he noticed Maya grew attached to her. Namine broke into a smile and responded "I have grown attached to her as well and I hold a bit of admiration for you.. seeing as you raised her and made her into what she is today." Namine wans't planning on telling him all of that but once her lips opened it just came out. She blushed..her face becoming crimson due to her confession. Namine looked at the floor hoping he wouldn't notice. Suddenly he offered her a drink and she nodded her head in acceptance glad she could use the drink to stall herself from saying anymore.

Looking up towards Namine when she said she admired him, he sighed at that simple statement as it wasn't as great of an accomplishment as it seemed. His hair hung low, covering the look in his eyes as he turned away and quietly took a sip of his drink before setting the beverage atop the closed cooler. "Well...it's not like I really did much...the girl is amazingly resillient, yet shy. She's a loving girl, but she's timid at first...all I did was bring her out of her shell and she honestly did the rest. I'm not gonna take responsibility for her loving nature...all I did was heal her wounds and be her family when she had none." he stated plainly before reaching for his drink again and looked out of a window vacantly for a moment.

Namine sipped her drink surprised at his reaction. She walked towards him. Once she reached him she placed one hand on his arm and looked into his eyes. "Wether you believe it or not your helping her has to do with who she is as well." Namine noticed what she had done and backed away not wanting to make this awkward. She took another sip of her drink and leaned against the wall..staring absently at the ceiling. She thought back to the moment when the city folk had looked at them weird. "Say Shinsei..I have a question. Did you notice how everyone stared at us when we entered the city? Do you think it's because they dont approve of me?" She said the last part softly. She was sure if anyone could be honest or blunt, it would be him. PLus as their leader he would know how these people think.

"Maybe..." he commented in a hushed tone as he ran his finger around the rim of the can. His eyes suddenly widened as the boy coughed as soda almost flew out of his mouth and nose, but he restrained it with all his force as he plugged his nose and mouth with his free hand. Looking at her for a moment, he stood up and coughed into his fist before looking about the room. "Eh...no, that's not exactly why they stared. It was rather something else..." he said, rather not wanting to go into detail if she herself had not realised. Leaning against the front door of the home, he took a deep breath and tried to calm down a bit as he looked outside, the red on his face deminished by the rays of the sun shining down on his face.

Namine laughed. He almost coughed up the soda. The sight of him trying to keep it in was so funny to her. She had to balance herself against the wall or she would have fallen from her fit of laughter. " Real smooth Shinsei" she teased. "Now I wonder what caused that reaction? You're not gonna tell me are you?" She said looking at him. She watched him near the door seeing the sun shining on his features. It gave his purple hair a glow and suddenly she wanted those purple eyes to be focused on her. Namine shook her head as if to make the thought disappear. She finished her drink ran her hand trough her hair touching her ears along the way. Namine frowned wondering how she looked to others. Maya apparently loved her and thought her pretty..but then again Maya was a child. She wondered if Shinsei thought she was pretty. She noticed him blush and figured he was uncomfortable around her.

Scratching the back of his head sheepishly, the boy looked over at her for a moment as embarassed as he was, it was obvious now. Hearing her ask as to why they were really staring if not at her because of being an outsider, he took a deep breath. His natural self would answer, but he bottled it in for a moment as he leaned against the doorway again and turned slightly. "I think it was because...well, I think people got a strange idea in their heads when they see me carrying a small girl in my arms with you walking next to me...as if...there was something going on." he commented for a moment before quickly going off to throw his can away before going for another, anything to keep pacing.

Namine's ears stood on edge when he explained to her why he thought they were staring. She should not have asked. Her face began to turn crimson and her tail came up as if to fan the air. Namine grabbed her tail and smoothed the hairs hoping her blush wasnt noticeable. But the way she was feeling it probably was. " Uhh..Shinsei..haven't you been romantically involved with anyone? I mean im new here and you and Maya are regulars...why would they assume were...you know..together" Namine tried hard to speak calmly and not stutter. She swore that this was the most unnerving moment in her life. "I know you don't like me and just tolerate me..you see me as nothing but a frightened little girl dont you?" she said. "Knowing that I doubt the towns folk would think you find me appealing". Namine turned to look out of the window closing her eyes trying to calm her body but it betrayed her every thought...her tail wagging nervously behind her.

Standing up with a fresh drink, Shinsei sat on the arm of the couch as he opened the tab and sighed heavily as he wiped some sweat from his brow. Of all the questions to ask him about his personal life, she asked him if he'd ever been involved with anyone...when the answer should've been an obvious no with his initial lack of all tact and manner. "No...I've never been romantically involved with anyone before. Some here have...their own situations about what I should be doing with my life...you know, the usual 'you should find a nice girl and calm down' types. You keep speaking as if you're an outsider, no one here cares about that...the amount of time doesn't matter as much as what you do in that time." he said calmly as he looked at the floor, staring down at it as if to drill a hole into it with his gaze.
Moving a bit of hair from his face, he looked over to her for a moment as she seemed to be going on a bit of a downward spiral towards herself "Seeing as I rarely talk to many people informally, it's actually a pretty unusual occurance for me to be seen with anyone, especially a girl. It's not that I don't like you or that I just put up with you, you seem to be an alright person and with how easily Maya warmed up to you is impressive and says something about you as a person. Despite her caring nature, she doesn't have many people around she really bonds with like she seemed to have done with you. Besides, what do you mean you doubt they'd find you appealing when you're actually kinda cu--..." he faded off and stood up suddenly and walked towards the door, his face a beet red as he opened it and took a few steps outside but quickly twisted around. He'd rather be inside where it was obvious to just her than be outside where the whole town could see his reaction as he sat down and looked at the wall opposite the side of the room she stood in.

She heard him sigh and instantly regretted asking him such a personal question. She didn't know what prompted her to even ask. He answered her question though and strangely, she felt relieved when he did. He spoke to her about her referring to herself as an outsider. Just great now she was being lectured. So he didn't hang around many girls huh..well it sure didn't seem like it. He had two of them in the room right now. "Well..I wasn't aware that you didn't have someone in that sense..or that you didn't really associate with the other gender. Then again other than Maya I don't know who that other girl is...so I assumed." Her brain was yelling for her to stop.. she sounded like a jealous girlfriend..but her lips had a mind of their own. Namine's ears twitched when she heard him talk about her appearance...was she hearing things? or was he actually about to say she was cute. Her tail wagged and she willed it to stop. Maybe im getting ahead of myself, she thought, does he realy think im cute? Namine gathered her courage "Do you really find me cu.." the words died on her lips. He was uncomfortable and not meeting trying not to meet her gaze.
