Furrowing his brows at Ronan, Edward then nodded with a light huff. However, feeling the ground shift and the sounds of something stiring, a sense of urgency was felt... not to mention the shove. A clap of his paws, and Edward transmuted the arm plate of his automail, extending it into a blade. Using the weapon to hack at some of the thick branches of the bush, enough for he and Ronan to crawl into the blue, thorny entaglement of a plant.

The adult watched patiently as Ed used his abilities to cut through the thorns. Not bad. Once Ed had moved somewhat into the plant, Ronan stood right behind keeping guard of any unwanted visitors. Head moved to speak, dodging a pale tail. "Is there any there?" With any luck, the moon would glint off the shiny surface of a pearl passed the thorns. The ground shook slightly, but just enough for the adult to curse with sarcasm. "Heh, ever seen a dune worm before, kid?" Now's the time, as Ronan turned his head, watching the ground crack, as if a mob of ants were trying to bust through the solid land.

This was one big and thorny plant.. it was hard to get into. The sounds of a hacking blade could be heard, but still the thorns were vicious.. and Ed hissed as jagged barbs snagged his fur and gave him cuts here and there. "I'm looking!" he barked back at Ronan, although eyes widened and claws gripped the ground as it suddenly shifted beneath him. A... dune worm? "Uh... no?" Did he really even want to see one? He figures he probably didn't.
It was then that something caught his eye with what little bit of light streamed through the dense foliage. "I think I see something!" But it was rather deep within the platns and enormous thorns and branches obscured most ofthe view. This plant was probably pretty old... it must have taken years for it to grow such an arsenal of thorns and barrier of intertwining branches.

"Heh, take your time." Ronan backed away from the large, skeletal plant to glare towards the sounds. The moon gave just enough lighting to hint at the rocks shuffling about, dirt rising in a blister. Soon a texture poked through the rocks, a gloss yet hard snout. White eyes stayed glued to the being, a paw reaching out to tug on one of Ed's tail tips. "It looks like any other pearl. Hurry and snatch the thing."
The ground screamed in a brutal crack, and the snout hissed as its body soon followed from under the rocks. "Time to go fullmetal, now."

Edward grumbled at Ronan's insistance. He was going as fast as he could! He could possibly use his alchemy, but Edward didn't want to inadvertantly harm the plant beyond repair. Scrambling into the thick of the bush, he squeezed through the large branched and hacked at the smaller ones. Wincing as he felt thorns scrape all over.
And then.. there it was... a large perfect pearl. Ed's golden eyes widening in awe as he sat for moment and just stared. However, the noises behind him, the movement of the ground and Ronan's urgent tone, yanked him back to reality. With another push forward, he snagged the pearl in his teeth and then quickly backed up... surpressing a yelp as a thorn cause his ear and ripped it, but he was out.

The shuffling of branches assured Ronan that Ed was pulling out of the bush. Tails flicked once the younger male was fully out, Ronan tapping his shoulder to look at the worm. It's hide was like that of an elephant, no eyes resting upon it's haggard face. Front arms rested on its sides, formed like crocodile arms, petals of sharp scales adorning the thick limbs. The hind of its body remained unseen, worming into the depths of the earth.
"Now that....is what one looks like waking up on the wrong side of the bed." The adult smirked before turning to Ed. "Got the pearl?" A sudden snarl and push forward from the worm forced the kitsus to step back. "They move slow enough, so long as it stays above ground." The bright male spoke as if it was nothing more than a small lizard.

Blood marking his fur here and there, and a torn bleeding ear... Edward could have looked better. Feeling the tap, he turned around and blinked as he saw the big... worm thing. He was... speechless... mostly because he held the pearl in his mouth... and at Ronan's question he made an odd grin. Showing the thing held between his fangs. The growl from the worm causing him to give it some space. Golden eyes remained trained on the creature as he watched it carefully. It sure was ugly.

A raised brow was given to the boy, noting the cuts here and there. But hell, they all know Ed had put up with way worse before. The small object revealed behind fangs made Ronan grin. "Congrats there kid. I'm sure Lily will just love that rare gift." Eyes flitted back to the worm cautiously, not liking its body language. The constant back and forth sway of its neck showing its eager hunt for their scent. Without any warning, the hideous creature screeched, before diving back into the ground with its sharp nose. "Cue to run!" Ronan nudged Ed to turn, dashing back in the direction of the boulder. "Boulder or desert, whichever we hit first!" Either destination was safe from the now pursuing carnivore.

He just about choked on the pearl at what Ronan said. Gift for Lily?! ... Well he had to admit it would be a nice gift... but wtf! However, Ed didn't have much time to think about that as the worm let out a horrendous screech. Okay... run time. The alchemist took off like a shot. He didn't need to be told twice. Although it was times like these that he wished he could fly. His wings flapping as he ran.. although it didn't so much good. They had some lift.. but not enough to lift his weight with the automail. Sprinting across the sand, the first thing Edward saw was a boulder and quickly lept onto it, hoping to avoid that big... worm thing.

Ronan leapt upon another boulder, laughing his a** off. Though he was aware enough to keep his tails away from the ground. "You sprint like some nervous turkey." Laughter was soon muffled, understanding that the metal hindered the use of flying. Still, that was something the boy would have to eventually train. The ground creaked with the hunter underground, crawling about in its tunnels to try and locate their footfalls. So long as they held steady, they'd be fine. Ronan sat on his rock, lifting a paw towards Ed. "By the way, I already have a pearl. It's waiting safely for me near the base of a palm." Had been for months. "What you have there," points to mouth, "is for yourself or Lily. How'd ever find better use."

Edward wasn't thinking about his tails... infact he was more focused on Ronan and the ribbing he was getting. A growl coming from Edward as he was likened to a nervous turkey. That Ronan could be such an asshat! DX
The pearl was removed from his mouth with his flesh paw, "WHAT?!" he shrieked back at Ronan. "Then what the hell was the point?!" Not that he really should be complaining, but just the shock of it all left him flabbergasted. He almost wanted to chuck the thing at Ronan's head.. you know.. if it wasn't a semi-precious stone.
If Ronan already had a pearl stashed away, then why did he come out here in the first place. THAT is what Edward wanted to know.

The smile stayed plastered on the adult's face. Honestly, it was too easy and amusing seeing the other get so wound up. Thank goodness he was on a seperate rock though. XD
"What was the point? Well fine, if you don't want it, hand it over." White paw pads moved in a 'hand it over' motion. It was always a good thing to have spare pearls. Ronan shrugged and peered down at the now quiet rocks beneath. "Maybe next time you'll think twice about slinking around. My original intentions have to wait another night now. Thanks." A false salute was tossed to the teen's direction.

Edward recoiled as Ronan made a motion to hand over the pearl, holding it in his paws in the opposite direction of the other kitsu. "No way!" a glare being shot at the colorful male. After all.. he was the one that got all scratched up over this thing! Tails twitched in irritation. What a minute... original intentions. "But I thought this was your original intention!" Or atleast he did until Ronan told him he had a pearl already. Oy.. this guy was so... frustrating sometimes! "Then what -is- your original intention?"

Of course he wouldn't hand the pearl over, but he wouldn't stop whining either. One brow twitched in irritation, before Ronan huffed at the younger kitsu. Ugh, were did all the prided energy come from? Ears pinned at Ed's loud voice, and white eyes glared at him in the crisp darkness. "What are you yelling about? My intention changed when I realized there was a pest following around." He just couldn't resist placing the nosey right in the throws of the situation.
A glance was given to the ground, front arms resting fully on the boulder to feel any vibrations. Nothing, at least nearby. He flashed a toothy grin to Ed before leaping off the boulder and darting to the desert. "And that's none of your business!" XP

Ears flattened back, wincing slightly as it stung.. and glaring still in Ronan's direction as he was called a pest. Hmph! Then watching as Ronan took off towards the desert, "FINE!" he shouted after him. Had to have the last word after all. Grumbling to himself, Edward too lept off his boulder and sprinted in the same direction Ronan had gone.
