"Hm... I'm kinda like your guardian. After I left... After I left where I'm from, I guess I took a liking to you, and how you always got yourself in trouble... Your father and I met just once, but he doesn't know about me protecting you either. Sometimes, you know you could hear music that would help calm you down, or help you go to sleep? That was me... I've almost always been here." Aubrey didn't know she had lost her memory of who she was, but he didn't think he needed to reveal it. Aubrey sighed and took out one of his Guitar-Scythes. "Toned down, you could listen to what I played..." Aubrey smiled, and then started to strum the strings to what sounded like 'Stairway to Heaven' by Led Zeppelin, but he played it quietly, so they could continue the conversation.

Irene looked confused. 'Guardian? It's amazing he knows I get in trouble, and everything he said must be true.' When he played the music, it sounded so familiar. "I know that melody." She said quietly. "I wish I could remember..." It must have been true, there was no other explanation she could think of. Irene thought about something. "Then wait, you must know what happened to me about a year ago. Do you know why I lost my memory that night? My dad won't say a word about that night, so he's no help."

"What do you mean? You lost your memory?! How come I wasn't... Why didn't I-?" Aubrey sighed heavily leaned his head back, stopping the music he was playing. "It must've happened during the Darkness. That would explain it. About a year ago is when I got cursed."

Irene seemed to relax a little, like a bit of hope was lost. "I'm sorry." She looked away a bit, then shrugged. "Well, I guess it dosen't matter. My dad filled me in on how my life was like before all this. And now I know I had you. There shouldn't be anything important that I don't know about, right?" Irene knew something wasn't right, a few things she still didn't know. But she couldn't do anything about it.

"But don't you think," Aubrey said, "That it's more than coincedence that I got cursed the same day that you lost your memory? Fate has brought us together. For what, I'm unsure... But we're are definately here for a reason." Aubrey looked at Kaori, and then back at Irene. "I think we should speak to your father."

"He's asleep from the medicine. But he does tend to be more cooperative when he's drowzy. Be careful though, he has lukemia. The medicine should calm his coughing, but don't be alarmed if he starts up again." Irene turned to the direction of the hallway and started walking.

Aubrey nodded and motioned for Kaori to follow. "Lukemia..." Many of the regulars in Heaven had been sent there by the same disease. Perhaps that's why Aubrey could since something was wrong with her father. His time was probably running out.

Irene opened the door slowly, then motioned the others to follow. Irene sat on a chair next to her father's bed and shook him lightly. "I'm sorry to wake you dad, but the friends I was talking about want to see you." Her father's eyes opened slightly, then he turned his head to the other two. His eyes were green, but they seemed glazed over. As if he was partly blind. But he could see clearly.
He spoke in a raspy voice. "So you're back Aubrey... I didn't think I would see you again." any anger he used to have toward the boy, and any hapiness seemed drained. He knew his days were numbered, and the number was small.

"Yes..." Aubrey had avoided this until it was absolutely inevitable. "Your time is up, friend. But I must find out information from you.. You're probably the only one who knows." Aubrey avoided Irene's gaze, because he knew she'd be hurt by this. He'd have to explain later.

Irene looked confused, but she backed from the chair so Aubrey could sit and get information about whatever was going on. The man though, he looked like he knew this was going to happen. "It's been so painful holding on. I'm glad it's finally time. I guess you want to know then, what happened to Irene the night she lost her memory."

"Yes..." Aubrey spoke quitely, nodding in thanks to Irene when she moved. He sat, and scooted the chair closer so the man didn't have to speak loudly, or waste his remaining energy.

The old man breathed one heavy breath, then began. "Irene is not an ordinary human. In fact she wasn't always human. She was a mischievious child, always getting into trouble. She loved adventure. I acted as her father, and to her I was just that. Irene had a mother too, my wife. the two of us cared for the children here and lived a normal life before Irene came to us. Irene would help with the kids here, in the orphanage."
He paused for a bit, regaining some energy. "The night Irene lost her memory, was when all this darkness started. It was in this orphanage, a demon of some sort attacked my wife. Irene fought hard to keep us all safe. I think that was the demon's plot, because it wasn't after my wife. It was after Irene. To this day I don't know why. All I know is that Irene became human that day. Irene was knocked unconcious... It was then my wife fought for Irene's sake..."
The man couldn't finish that part, but it was obvious the demon had killed her at that point. "The demon left, and Irene awoke. She had forgotten... Everything." Irene had listened to all of this, but couldn't remember any of it. Irene regretted not knowing what her mother had looked like. She bowed her head sadly, not saying a word.

"I thought so... Can you tell me what the demon looked like?" Aubrey asked, hoping that he could figure out who he, or it, was by the description.

The old man looked at the ceiling, trying to remember. "It looked like a man, but he had wings. He had blonde hair and menacing green eyes. He was a devil, a pure evil devil. That's all I know."

Lucifer? What would Lucifer want with this girl?
"Hm... That is all I need to know." He turned to Irene, and smiled. "You can spend the last moments with your father..." Aubrey smiled and left the room. In the main lounge, he unfurled his wings, he did so when he was thinking, and paced back and forth. What does this mean?
