I donno. My school doesn't let gay people be proud of themselves in public.
Check up on websites and gather supporters. But don't give up.
You fought with your mom about it, and now that you have her blessing, do it!

You do realize that they have no way of controlling your emotions and therefore cannot stop you from being proud about being gay in public if you want to.

I know, I was kind of being sarcastic. I am proud of who I am, and I don't try to conceal my sexuality in public.
My school, however, is Catholic and won't let anyone start up a GSA, which is from where I derived my sarcasm.

Ahhh.....I'm sorry....Catholic schools scare me....i wouldn't want to go to one...*shudders*

Me too... The teachers try and make you attend mass, and I'd hate that cuz I'm not even cristian.

I went to a Catholic school for two years. It made me decide to go Apathetic Agnostic. No offense to anyone's religion intended, but that's the effect of 2 years of a catholic elementary school did to me.

I live in england so I went to a protistant christian primary school(It's virtualy the same thing cept for some diffrences no bigge for the proupses of this disscusion) for 7 years... we had to sing hyms every day. If you did not sing, no break.(and they can see, there was less than 200 students in this school - small vilage, i'm not there any more because I moved to goto secandary school, and I wanted a faster internet connection mrgreen )(thinking about it I proboly picked up my homophobia here, for a while I thought homophobia was abosoulty discusting stressed .. I don't now of corse) also every thursday the local vicar came down and said stuff about the bible. He was a nice guy realy I had no probelm with him. One thing I do rember was going into the hall with him holding the door open and I said "I don't belive in god" his reply was "but god belives in you" rofl rofl rofl
I'm an athiest now by the way.

That depends, what kind of Catholic are you? (Religions are so confusing! Even when you break it down into denominations, there are EVEN MORE denominations under them! gonk )

Well the decision to follow a different religious path is completely up to you and no one else can make that choice for you.

Again, Catholic Guilt. Should i convert to anything else, i'll feel like i let my church, God and family down. Trust me, i've tried.

Well then stay with whatever religion you feel connected with!....or you could convert, and if you don't like it come back....and claim that you were under mind control! eek

*giggles* However if all Catholics have the gift of guilt that explains a few things with my mom's side of the family.... 3nodding

I just finished Angela's Ashes, the autobiography of Frank McCourt, and it deals a lot with religion. He's Irish Catholic, and there's a lot of "He/she is going to hell unless he/she confesses to a priest" "state of grace for communion/death/confirmation/etc." That was all before Vatican II, which, for those who don't know Catholic history well, is when Pope John Paul loosened up a lot of the rules, mass stoped being said in Latin, and there was just less general dogma. From my experience with Catholisism, as much as I hate it, it's not so terrible as telling kids they're doomed to hell if they don't obey their parents, or the Protestants are doomed to hell because they aren't Catholic, or DOOM DOOM DOOM.
I hate the Catholic church because of its sensorship, total resistance to putting women into positions of power, and its general misunderstanding of the importance of personal spirituality. I'm not a spiritual person, but it just makes me angry with they pretend like a drunken priest conducting a series of terribly boring rituals and delivering a weak and uninspring homely (sermon) is a way of worshiping god.
Urgh. I could go on.
Catholic guilt makes no sense to me. I havn't witnessed it.
Religion should be to cultivate the mind, not destroy it. Any religion that attempts to weaken people and hide the divinity of their own self is wrong. Realizing the self is more important then ties anyone else places upon you.

YOu see in more in Hispanic and Irish Catholics more often. And i take offence to the "drunken preist" part. My great-uncle William was a priest, and he was a very good man.
