Akimbo Also; I'm thinking you didn't have that conversation about FF8 with me.. xd SH3's freaky/creepiness doesn't lie in the fact that it's a creepy game but more in that the entire setting is off, like really off, in that wrong way. And you don't know why. As for FF8, alright, here's why people hate Squall. People hate Squall because they say he doesn't have a personality, that he makes stupid choices, that his character's horribly done has no development and so on so forth. Therefore, they hate themselves. Why? Because Squall's personality is your personality. He only says what you want him to say, he only thinks what you want him to think, he only does what you want him to do. Squall is you and therefore if you hate Squall you hate yourself. whee

LilyChan I'm too much of a loser to even make it PASS the tower monster... gonk Here's all the RPGs I tried and utterly, and totally FAILED and lost confidence in: -Kingdom Hearts -FF8 -FF9 -Legend of Dragoon. I play Fighting games mostly. I even have the cheap a** Inu-Yasha. My favorite game in the genre is Tekken. heart I seriously kick a** in that game. ( cept when it comes to real people whee heart ) I'm also a racing fanatic. ^_^ Crusin' USA and World are my bitches heart Of course I play DDR, but just the workout mode. My fat legs and a** need it. gonk How could you fail at Kingdom Hearts? All you have to do is mash the attack button when in combat! gonk Legend of Dragoon was a horrible game. It had a nice story and the ideas behind it were good but the battle system got REALLY tediuos after the first few fights and the timing required for the more advanced attack patterns just go ridiculous later on. I liked the story, but honestly, the play mechanics just sucked. I think I wasted 20 hours just getting enough gold to buy that item that does the timing for you just so I wouldn't have to care anymore. sweatdrop I'm an asian when it comes to fighting games. Give me five hours and I'll have nearly mastered the system. Sadly, I err towards the play mechanics of Capcom/SNK style fighters so I've never really gotten the hang of the combo style play needed for Tekken, Virtual Fighter, and to a lesser extent, Soul Caliber.

For me? Very easily. I'm a loser, WJ. You forget.... crying I loved the story, but I was like "DUDE. HURRY UP! -kicks it-" So I kinda have to agree with you on that. I grew up with Capcom/SNK, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter. But when Tekken came out, I was high on it. I was like " eek wh0a. I could do combos..AWESEOME!" And you're a badass Asian whee heart

I always got annoyed when I started playing and eventually quit. I just don't like having to time the attacks, blah. It was a good storyline, I've been watching my sister play so I have an idea on what's going on. But..blah. The battle system wasn't that great. I never got far enough in the game to get the hard attacks, though.. Have you ever played Siren? If you haven't..don't even bother. That game is horrible. There was nothing about the game I liked. The controls were a bit complicated, the graphics sucked ( enough so that the first guy you control in your game looks like he has HUGE nostrils and no skin on his face ), the game was a bit dark..even for a game like that, and they had this thing called sight-jacking that was just confusing and sucked, because you couldn't move while in that mode. Oh well, it may have been better..but from what I've heard people say in the Fatal Frame community I'm in on LJ, it doesn't get much better. The game has zombies, you know how I feel about zombies. In that game they made me laugh my head off when you first see one, oh man..it was just hilarious. If anybody HAS played Siren, I'd like to hear what they thought about it.. sweatdrop Also, WJ, your FF8 thing on Squall..just.. xd I love you. heart

It's good for keeping your attention during fights (instead of like in FF where you just keep clicking) and it's challenging. HOWEVER, the fact that you can't turn it off and you do CRAP damage unless you do the combos makes it horribly repetitive and overdone. Simply put the battles become even more repetitive thanks to the timing required, it becomes more frustrating, and it just becomes dull. Great story, but bleh execution. I'm good like that. xd

The attacks really are worth diddly squat unless you do the combo, and that just sucks. If they could turn it off, or do something about that I think I would've liked the game more. Meh..oh well.

Yeah, it really does help with lesser encounters or long dungeons. The fact that you can't is really annoying since the game then forces you to pay attention to crap enemies because if you don't, you run the risk of losing. I really did like the Dragoon system though. It was all nifty and what not and the timing based system really worked there because the Dragoon forms were special forms so it made sense that you had to master something in order to get the most out of them, like the limits in FFX.

I have to agree with you on both of those points. For main battle the timing sucked. For longer ones and for when you went Dragoon it made more sense and wasn't as annoying.

I like FF9 best out of all the FFs I've played (7-10 and a bit of 10-2). All the other ones are just... blah. I guess FF7 is okay, but it's overhyped. Blah.

FF6 is my favourite mostly because it had way more story, character development, and all that stuff. Please, it was easy to god mod like mad. whee

I wasn't crazy about some of them, but still..I didn't have a problem with any of them. I liked the story, too. I'm sure VIII wasn't one of the BEST FF games ever, but it's still my favorite. I really need to start using my ZSNES more often to play some of the older FF games, I keep forgetting that I have them.

Gah. I've never played FF6, but I want to... I like 9 out of all the ones I've played because it's kind of more true to the FF series theme in my opinion. 7 and 8 are good games, but they don't seem like real Final Fantasy games to me for some reason. And I just hate 10 and 10-2... don't ask why. I just...do. gonk

9 had a lot more of a lighthearted feel to it. It's not really true to the FF series like how 7 and 8 aren't true to the series. FF has always been an epic journey deal but 7 and 8 pride themselves in an overly serious manner. 9 is the backlash from old school fans who disliked the modern cyberpunk feel that they had and so the FF series was reverbed back into a light hearted romp, but it prided itself in being light hearted. 9's the polar opposite of 7 and 8.
X in all honesty is a lot more true to the FF series then anything after 6. It doesn't take itself too seriously and yet it's not too light hearted. It develops all of it's characters, it gives you an epic story and it has a new and innovative levelling system. The only thing I had against X was that it was too linear.
