"I'm on a path to nowhere as well." said Tekira casually. She looked back at the man with the odd machine, wondering if he was suffering from shock.

Aer shook himself and got up, dusting himself off, though he was so covered in dirt that this proved to be impossible. He hunched his shoulders as the girl spoke to him.
"Uh... It's a gitacr," he said, pronouncing it 'zheetark'. He seemed to be struggling with himself as to whether to say anything else, then added, "Hey, I'm Aer. d'--" Aer broke off, and decided to leave his last name out. "Aer. I'm Aer." Suddenly worried, he knelt by the flying craft and nudged it experimentally. The fan at the back belched loudly, spewing a cloud of golden smoke behind it, away from Aer and the two girls. Aer sighed. "I hope it still works... Maybe I can fix it with magic, but..."

"It's awesome." said Tekira, eyes shining. She loved machinery and finding out how things worked. "I've never seen anything like it. A gitacr, you said?" She ran her fingers over its dusty side. Then she grinned. "I'm Tekira."

((Sorry, I'm not trying to make this a science-fiction roleplay with this technology thing. I promise the gitacr will be the only thing like that ^^;; ))
"Yes," Aer said, drawing himself up a little. "It's a new invention. My unc..." he trailed off again, and frowned. "It was invented about a year ago, and they're not very widely distributed. They're very expensive, because there aren't many of them around yet." He chewed on his lower lip and stared at it, then strode around to the front, where it tapered into a sharp point that would cut the air easily as it flew. He laid a hand on it and closed his eyes, trying to feel around inside the magical functions of the thing.
Bloody complicated magick, he thought irritably as he mentally navigated the maze of connecting threads and flows of power inside the machine. I'll never be able to fix--
"Hello, what's this?" he suddenly said aloud, opening his eyes, but he didn't see anything; he was still inside the machine, at least, his consciousness was. He had come across a broken thread of energy. In fact, as he glanced around the spot where he was, there were a lot of broken threads here. They were rapidly degenerating, too. Hastily he dove into the magical structure and tied off the loose ends, yanking them toward each other and pouring his own energy into them to make up for the lost power. He wondered, as he worked, how anyone could have created such a thing; he was having a hard enough time fixing it. Finally, though, it seemed that all the threads had been tied off, sutured shut, and revitalized. The machine hummed softly for a few seconds, then silenced. Aer stepped back, shaking his head. He glanced at Tekira and gave a sheepish smile. "Sorry. I think I fixed it." Then an idea occurred to him. "If..." He glanced over at Janika. "If you two are headed somewhere, I think this is powerful enough to carry three people." He reddened a little. "And I promise not to fall asleep flying it. But, um, let me see, I know there was another seat somewhere..." He ran his fingers over the handlebar portion of the machine, and finally found what he was looking for. He jabbed at a small button with his finger, and there was a burst of blue light from the craft. Apparently, this wasn't supposed to happen, because Aer jumped, and quickly jabbed at the button again. Nervously, he pushed another, similar button, and the craft hummed again as its shape warped strangely to reveal another seat behind the first.
"It's a pretty simple construct," he muttered to himself, "so if I can just replicate the weave, the spell sould be pretty simple..." He walked over to the second seat, ran his hand through the air over the second seat, and sucked in a quick breath. He shut his eyes, screwed up his face, and bit his bottom lip for a few seconds. A tiny trickle of blood was running down his chin, unnoticed by him, when the gitacr shuddered violently, and extended to accomodate yet another seat. Aer opened his eyes, noticed the blood, and hastily dabbed it off of his chin. He sucked on his lip for a few seconds and glanced at Tekira.
"There," he said. "I think it can carry all three of us if you want. I mean, if you're interested. You don't have to, of course, I mean, like, get on this flying craft with a total stranger, but, you know, as an apology for... almost killing you." He figured he wasn't making himself look any better, and so he decided to keep sucking the blood off of his lower lip while he waited for an answer.
((I'm playing him a little more nervous than I'd intended... He's supposed to be a bit more confident... I'll have to fix that.))

"That'll be cool! So are you rich or something? How'd you buy it?" Janika asked excitedly. She bounced up and down.

Aer's face went white, and he stammered a little.
"Um," he said, trying to think of a suitable lie. The best lie, someone had told him once, is a lie cloaked in truth. So why not tell the truth? It would, after all, be the best kind of lie he could think up. And besides, he didn't have to tell the whole truth.
"Yeah," he said finally. "I come from a noble family, among the Calan elves. My, er, parents... bought this for me." That was a stupid lie, he thought. But he couldn't take it back now.

Surveying the area, Avoron shaded his eyes from the blinding sun. The city had seemed to be in the south last he reckoned, but that wind had blew him all over the place, it was hard to tell. The sweat began to roll down his face. Why was it so hot?! Oh... He remember the bulky cloak and wrapping he had around himself in an effort not to shove so much into his pack. He stripped himself of them and contemplated his next move. Number one, get out of this sun. Number two, find people. Simple....mebbe...
He flipped the little bronze disk with rails over, causing it to cast a small shadow. He tied his cloak and bag onto a rail, held it over his head to cast some shade, and began trudging dejectedly off. Mayhaps there would be some people nearby.
