The spatter of the water made 'Naci squeal and prance in place a bit. how could all of this be getting all over her. The firely mane and stail hissed a bit but just dodged around the water instead of extinguishing. If she were to be completely soaked her hair it seemed would just find a place on her body that was dryer than the rest of her. That wored just fine for 'Naci and she took another step into the water. "Don' ye think that the water is jest a wee bit too cold fer this climate?" She sure did... It ought to be warmer.

"Yes is a bit on the cold side" Rising to stand slowly, Peony glanced over at the little one for a moment. " I've heard of a soquili breed that lives in the water, but I can't remember if its here in the lake or where the salt water is" Prancing around in place, the mare moved along the lake shore a bit. " I suppose if they lived here they could make the water colder some how"

"Aye.. tis on the colder side but I've not a single clue as ter why they'd want ter make the water any colder." The longer she stayed in the water she would feel a bit more comfortable but then too she was also more likely to start to shiver. Gah, with her body being the size that it is.. Staying warm could become rather irritating. Her mane was fizzing and popping ever so often like it felt threatened and wanted to warn off the water.. Odd.

"Maybe they like the cold, yes but its a tad bit odd none the less" Nodding abit, Peony stopped for a moment staring down she watched a small fish struggle to get back to the water. "Come here little one, there is a fish trying to get back to deep water...Have you ever seen a fish?" Turning her head slightly, Peony watched the little one for a moment before looking back at the fish.

‘Naci made a few hesitant more steps into the water. Her mane and tail was a sea of blue and silver that had threaded it’s way up her back. A bit of smoke was even coming off of the tips, “A fish? Weeell, I’ve seen the wee ones that come up in the inch deep water.” Did those count as truly being fish? Most likely. Her bright amber eyes stared down into the water curiously, taking in the details, “Oi, he does look funny ter me.”

"Thats cause he can't breathe here" Nudging the fish with her hoof, Peony pushed it into deeper water. "They breathe oxygen through the water, the air we breathe is to pure for them so it suffocates them" Pawing at the water, the mare watched the small ripples her hoof connecting with the water caused. " I hear there are fish bigger then two or three stallions together where the water is salty"

“Oh?” ‘Naci watched with avid eyes as the medium sized fish began to swim away from their sight. He hadn’t seemed to mind too much the help that the flower-mare had given. Were fish friendly? “I didna know that.” So the air she breathed every day and every moment was too much. “I canna imagine a fish bein’ tha big. Wouldn’t the water be losin’ all o’ it’s oxygen then?” Her mane managed to crackle a bit with her question before spitting a bit more smoke. Today was certainly turning out to be educational.

"Perhaps, but I head some fish can just float right up to the surface of the water, stick their noses out get some air then go right back under. Like they can breathe our air but they have to stay wet" Watching the fish escape, Peony retutned to making ripples in the water watching them spread out over the water. " Fish can be all different sizes just like Soquili"

"They can actually float?" 'Naci's eyes widened in surprise. The idea of a fish floating up to the surface made her think that maybe all of this wasn't accurate or she just hadn't seen the right fish. "I suppose so. I saw a Soquili the other day that was fully grown an' yet the lil mare didna seem ter be any taller than I be an' I'll get much bigger!" 'Naci giggled and stomped slightly liking the ripples that Peony had made, "what else is in the water?"

"Oh well with water cause you have air in you it helps you float so they move to the top then get air and use it to float only the air breaths do that the fish get just enough air from the water to let them swim and not sink to the bottom." Becoming silent for a moment, Peony turned back to the little one as she thought. "Well there are plants and where the water is salty there are water turtles all different ones that get quite big...and these odd red creatures with claws that two leggers like to eat"

‘Naci nodded solemnly once again and listened to what the mare was teaching her. Of course, she’d run every single detail past her mother before she decided to believe all of it. But if it were all true.. Well then that’d be something to remember. “It’s all jest so different an’ grand.” So the plants were what helped to give the fish the things they needed in the water.. “I’d like ter see a big ole turtle someday.” That’d be really neat… Having a turtle like maybe to make into a friend.. “Do they like horses?”

"They live in the water all the time so they probably don't know about horses.....But some of the come up on land to lay eggs" Glancing around the mare snorted a bit. " Their babies come from eggs"

‘Naci contemplated what the mare said. Well, the babies probably saw horses before going into the water, right? So they might just think that horses were something of a myth. Wouldn’t that be just too funny? Giggling softly, ‘Naci sloshed a bit of the water around and blinked her wide amber eyes up at the mare, “What else lives in the water, eh?”

"My Two legger has shown me pictures of these things called sea-horses....they have the head of a horse but their bodys are different they have no legs just to fins that look kinda like some flutters wings and their tails curl and uncurl to push them through the water....So many things live in th water" Prancing around in the water a bit, the mare giggled abit. " Some things live in both the land and water or can go between."

Wait, there were horses under the water that… All of this was a lot for the little filly to be forced to soak up and learn in such a short time. If all these things lived in the water what all was in the forest and stuff where she actually lived. Weird. Her mind was memorizing all of this as much as was possible. Her mom had said she was a quick learner and now she’d have to tell her momma. “Oh? What sorta things choose ter live in the land an’ in the water?”
