Morthan gave a soft chuckle and set off at a slow walk again. "And you are as beautiful as you are kind Eira and believe you me, you are very beautiful." She actually really thought he was attractive. Wow. He'd never considered that there was anything wrong with how he looked no matter how many people had laid their ears back at him. He hadn't really thought himself handsome though; strange, interesting, distinctive yes but not handsome. Still, he trusted the Ichsa mare's tastes; perhaps he was handsome, at least in the eyes of those who didn't find his whiteness disquieting.
Perhaps more surprising still, she liked who he was as well, so far at any rate. So much so that she wanted to give courting a short. After having known her for less than an hour, Morthan felt it was pretty good going especially since he felt the… well the click as well. Perhaps this would really work, perhaps he’d have a mate and foals again. Today was definitely a good day.

Eira blinked. "I am?" she spun in a circle. "you don't thikn i'm to...oh i don't know, bland? I mean brown and white, nothing special about that is there? I mean i know i'm not ugly, its in my breed to be pretty at least...but beautiful..." she smiled lightly. "thank you." She was quiet for a moment as she walked beside him.
"I really...do enjoy your company, Morthan." she smiled. "Alot. With Dark i was either just...ignorent of the world around me, or to aware. It didn't match. Once i found myself i just felt uncomfortable with him. Then i met a jala. Vary nice, but i don't find them appeling. As a friend, sure, as a mate, no. But you...your not ignoreent of the world, you know who i am, you speak thoughts from my head....And everything you say is said so perfectly. Never once have i thought anything you said could have been a lie. Nothing you could say would be a lie if you said it." she smiled. "its your tone...its truth...I really like that about you, Morthan...really."

By all the bright stars he had never seen he hoped he didn't end up disappointing her. "I don't think you're bland a bit," Morthan smiled. "It's not a dull, boring brown, it's... rich I think is the right word. Yes. The white contrasts it well, too; very well." Very well indeed; she had a pretty little rump and the pale colour showed it off to great advantage.
He wasn't quite sure how to phrase what he wanted to say next though. The stallion smiled and snorted to himself; best just to start talking and let his tongue work it out as he went along. "I enjoy your company too. I know we've literally just met and everything but you seem a lot like me in some ways and very different in others, which is good. People who are utterly different or utterly the same seldom get on very well for long. You seem to... mmm... to 'get me' better than anyone has in a long time. I can be an irritable bugger but you haven't annoyed me even a bit so far which again is something that hasn't happened in a long time. I think... I think I feel like you see me."
The words had made sense to him and, with luck they would to her as well. Eira seemed to be good at interpreting him even as he'd just said. The click. Yes. It was definitely a good sign.

She laughed lightly, smiling. "i'm glad to know i haven't annoyed you." she nodded. "Yes, i feel like you get me as well. Better then anyone ever has, to my memory. I mean perhaps i had a mate, or children, or a family at once point but i don't remeber past meeting Dark...I got lost, i kinda remeber a storm, and hitting somthing hard. Then i woke up somplace beautiful. I met him and we were happy...until i got lost, then i learned things, and he stayed the same. I changed...So i left, and i met you. And you are smart. I haven't ask because it is rude, but i know your older then me, by a fair amount i'd guess. But it makes you more...enjoyable company i suppose. Your not ignorent of the world, you seem to erad me well, we think rather simillarly on certain points. To be a good match, you can't just be the same or be completly diffrent. You need to have a basic balance...like ying and yang...half the same, half diffrent."
She hopped she made sence. She understood the stallion. And she was a bit flattered. After all he was older, smarter, wiser of the world, yet he felt lieks she understood him, like she was...well good. She was smiling softly, she coudln't stop. It made her happy.

Morthan laughed and pranced slightly, feeling like a yearling. "Yes! Exactly. A balance, balance is good." Moment of exuberance over, the albino went back to walking along with a reasonable level of decorum. "It must be odd not to remember things," he said after a moment, a thoughtful set of his ears and lips. "I can't imagine not remembering my youth... but then I suppose you can't imagine remembering your youth eh?" Funny the way the mind worked. Peculiar that was, though sometimes it was amusing as well, he had to admit.
"I can't wait to show you my home," the pale-eyed stallion went on with a grin. "It's a wonderful place, though I know I’ve told you that before I feel the need to say it again now we're going there as... as whatever we are. Some things don't need names to my mind. Some things can't be named come to that or at least not named well."

She nodded. "I can't. I wish i did tho. Some sort of past. Even why i can't remeber, tho i do think whatever i hit would he the cause of that. Its frusterating somtimes, i have such a small amount of time, of my history, that i can talk to people about..." she sighed a little. "while others have their whole lives."
She smiled. That brought up a good question. What were they exactly? Not mates, not yet. They were testing the waters at the present. "whatever we are..." she laughed softly. "that would be a wonderful question. Somthing special, somthing uncommon, somthing rare." she smiled at him. "we're testing the waters to see what we could be, not nessicaruly what we are."

The white stallion grinned and nodded to his companion's words. "Yes, testing the waters. Always a good thing before leaping right in and deciding on one thing or another. I suppose we are just us really; not a lot else we could be in the end is there? We are what we are and maybe one day there'll be a word to define what it is that we are. If not though I don't see as it matters too much. We'd know what we were, even if language couldn't pin it down."
Flexing his wings briefly, Morthan pondered what to say next. Perhaps it would be a good idea to find out more about this mare, seen as they were... eh, themselves. "So, tell me a bit more about yourself," the blue-eyed Reya smiled as he settled the leathery appendages against his flanks once more. "What's your favourite thing to eat, time of day, year, pastime? Things like that."

She nodded. Perhaps...hopfully...She was stoped in her thoughts at his request. About herself? "Well..." she had to stop to think. She had never thought about that, never honestly thought there was a reason to think about it.
"I'm not sure...I never thught about it before. I'm not a picky eater, tho anything with a sweet taste is my favorite i guess..." She thought somemore. "I really like diffrent times of day, accually. Night time, with a full moon. Its vary pretty, and calming, so long as you know where you are, or if your in the presence of a friend. I don't liek to be alone at night, sicne it could be dangerous. But i also like dawn and dusk...its the most beautiful time...."

Morthan gave a soft snort of agreement and bobbed his head for emphasis. "Sweet things are good; ripe fruit and the like though I've a fondness for nuts as well. Bit of a pain to break them open at first without squashing the nut itself but once you've the hang of cracking them they're lovely." Perhaps he could show her how to do it. Yes, when nuts came into season he could show her the rock with the groove that held the shelled things still so well and how you could put another rock on top and then stamp down on that to crack the tasty things open. He didn't have to tell her he hadn't thought of it himself, though if she asked he'd admit it willingly enough. Perhaps he’d leave out the age of the creature that had shown him though; he’d felt a bit silly being taught to do it by a mere colt who’d been introduced to nuts only a few hours previously.
"I've got to say I like dawn and dusk too," the albino went on after a while, snapping himself from his planning. "They're good time for me to be out and about; enough light to see by but not so much that it frazzles me and such. I do like night for its peace, the fact that not everybody is up and about but I think I'll like it even more with somebody about who can see where they're going. Number of times I've walked into things like trees or fallen over logs or into ponds I can't count." The blue-eyed stallion chuckled slightly at himself and gave a shake of his head. "Many, many impromptu baths have been taken when I'm wandering about an unfamiliar place at night. Not very funny at the time but rather amusing to look back on I find."

She smiled lightlyand nodded. "Yes, that would prove to be a problem for you. But perhaps soem time we can take a stroll. I promise not to let you run into a tree and get your horn stuck." she laughed softly as a memory surfaced. "When i first met Dark i got my horn stuck in a tree. I was trying to hide, i was rather skiddish and easily scared. THen i turned and bam, i couldn't get out until he pulled me out." she laughed lightly at the memory. She must have looked so stupid.
"What is your favorite time of year, Morthan?" she asked. "its only fair i ask you questions as well." she smiled, enjoying herself. Even if things didn't work out, she hoped beyond all else that they could stay friends, should a more romantic relationship turn to a flop.

“Humm…” Morthan twitched and ear and rustled his tails as he pondered the question. “I think I’d have to say spring,” he replied after a moment or two. “The weather’s getting warmer and such but the sun isn’t so hot a bright that I get badly burnt in spring. Plus there tends to be quite a lot of rain, which means cloud cover, which I like. Rain in itself is good too though I feel, so long as you have somewhere warm and dry to go when you get tired of it.”
He’d always enjoyed playing in puddles with his siblings as a foal, kicking the bright water up at each other and cooling off on hot summer days. “Rain at night isn’t quite so good though,” he went on with a nod. “All the noise rather takes away one of my cues as to what’s going on around me and I walk into things even more. Yes, I have done the stick horn into tree thing myself. Several times actually though fortunately I’ve been able to extricate myself each time with a bit of effort and quite a lot of cursing.”

"Well i'm no were near as strong as you, so i needed help." She smiled. "Spring? Oh yes, its vary beautiful. New life, new growths...Always reminds me of little foals." she giggled softly before her face grew sad for a moment. She shook her head to banish the thought. "Sorry, just thought of somthing..." She sighed. "Me and Dark had been talking about foals before i left. I almost stayed just for that...One day, i'd really love to be a mother."
"You said you had a mate. Did you have children at one point to?" she had to ask. She didn't remeber if he had mentioned it.

Morthan gave the other Nequus a slight smile and nodded. "Yes, three daughters. All grown up with mates of their own now... Must say spring call the same to mind for me. I'd like to be a parent again at some point. There's something about foals that... makes you feel alive I suppose, or makes me feel alive in any case. Plus it gives you a chance to mess around and play silly games."
The albino stallion grinned over at Eira. "I've got very good at being very bad at playing hide and seek," he confided. "You know, picking a good spot but leaving a tail or something sticking out so they can find you. Still, I only had to do that when they were very small. They got good a finding me when I was actually making an effort before very long." Their laughter when they managed to find him had always stuck in the pale Reya's mind and often when they were trying to get taken seriously as adults he would recall it.
Morthan chuckled to himself and shook his head slightly. "I never really saw them as grownups. They're still my little fillies, despite the fact that they probably have foals of their own by now. I must look them up at some point and find out how they're doing." They'd be doing brilliantly, he knew, but he wanted to see how their brilliance was being expressed. The Reya snorted at himself; parents and their pride in their offspring.

Eira nodded. "If you haven't seen them in a while i bet they would be excited to see you. Even tho i said i want to be a mother...i have times of doubt about how i would be. After all i can't remeber my mother, so i have no example to go by." she sighed lightly. "I do hope should i have little babies...that i take care of them as they deserve to be cared for."
"Three daughter tho. Wow...how wonderful Did you ever have to shoo off little colts coming to court them?" she laughed lightly at the image.

Morthan smiled and gave the brown mare's shoulder a nudge. "I'm sure you'd make a wonderful mother. Parenting is a lot easier than people make it out to be really; it comes naturally from what I can tell."
The pale stallion's smile faded into a slight scowl as a memory bobbed to the surface. "Not any colts per se, no problems when they were little. It was when it was just the youngest and me left that we had problems. Some poncy b*****d, a palomino Ichsa stallion, decided he fancied her for himself. Ended up having to cover myself in river mud to go and beat his pansy arse into the ground in the middle of the grasslands. Still, beat his pansy arse I did and I like to think that took his ego down a notch or two, wherever he went to."
The cut that the other stallion’s horn ad inflicted on his shoulder had hurt like hell for ages and got a bit infected, probably due to the mud he’d been covered in. Fortunately, with much washing and cleaning out, it had healed up alright in the end. Morthan glanced down at the spot where in injury had been and gave a soft snort of satisfaction. Didn't show a bit anymore; that was good.
