GetFaith Anya. I love Spike so much but when Anya died it so unexpected!! And such a horrible way for her to die. There was no real dignity for her to die that way. ya and wen jenny died i cried she was just always awesome my fav older character

tara's death was the saddest. Not only because she was my favourite character but because she was by far out of all characters the most innocent. She wasn't corrupt and didn't have any selfish means, she loved Willow so much that she left her when she didn't herself want to and she always looked out for Dawn. Her death wasn't because of anything that she lead herself to and is was COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED! It was sad (plus also that incident with Glory in Tough Love where she got her mind sucked) Poor Tara ...

The death of spike WOULD have been the worst. Unfortunately they were already showing information for the next season of Angel, and showing that Spike was going to be on there.... so we KNEW that his death was not permanent. I think it would have been better to surprise us with Spike being an addition to Angel. At least for a little while so then his death would have meant a little more.

IMO, Tara's death was the worst. Here's why:
Jenny died true to her character, trying to fix a mistake she'd made. Also, the actress wanted to leave the show.
Joyce died as a plot development, they'd always planned to have her die, and die that way, and the actress was fully prepared to leave the show.
The potentials who died either had no real character to them, died as plot development, or went down fighting.
Anya went down fighting - which showed character development, if you look back at the first apocalypse she was part of - and she went down defending someone, even if he wasn't considered 'worth it' by most of the others. Her death was true to her character, and the actress didn't want to make appearances on Angel.
Spike died true to his character, in flamey doom taking a whole shitload of baddies with him. Also, he was made able to come back.
Tara's death was utterly pointless. It's been mentioned that they needed to 'make Willow hit rock bottom'. They could have quite easily done that other ways, and they didn't 'need' to do it at all, as it only interfered with further plotlines later on. She didn't die true to her character, she was shot and she fell, and she died. She wasn't made able to defend anyone, to fight for her life. It didn't further any legitimate, purposeful plotlines. Her death was cold and empty. And the actress, Amber Benson, did *not* want to leave the show, she wasn't given the option.

Anya! Her death honestly suited her though... It was fast, to the point and dramatic. She stayed and battled her little heart out, she paid the ultimate price though... ouch, it looked like it hurt!!

But for Angel, Fred suffered by far the longest... then worst of all, yes she died but Illyria consumed her soul, as in Fred will never 'go to heaven' because there's nothing to pass on there, that I think is a worse fate than anyone because at least when they died they went upstairs or downstairs, she just went poof and her soul was annihilated!! Sucks for Wesley cuz when he dies he won't see Fred again cuz she's totally vanquished because of that God Illyria, honestly you can't beat that!

Anya because she was my favorite character. She and Xander were finally re-hooking up and everything. I was looking forward to them being together afterwords, but once she died...
Then there was Tara, she was my favorite above Anya until she died. I secretly hoped that when The First came to see Willow in college in the form of the girl who died that Tara would actually show herself and such. But once the First tried to get Willow to kill herself I was just...'Grrr, argh! I want the real Tara back!'
