katybutterfly I loved it! Got a bit puzzled about him taking his tie off at the start of the episode, and got a bit worried when the Plasmavore got him, but overall WELCOME BACK, DOCTOR! And welcome Martha. May you have as much fun in the TARDIS as Rose did. Favourite quote has to be: Martha: What did you do? Doctor: Increased the radiation by 5000%. Killed him dead. Martha: But won't that kill you?! Doctor: Nah, it's only Roentgen radiation. We used to play with Roentgen bricks in nursery. The radiation dance that followed was so completely random. And martha's response was one of the best parts of the episode.

Was it really necessary that he snog her, though? The Judoon said they detected traces of alien genetic material on her face or something like that. This is Ten we're talking about; I'd have been less surprised if he'd just licked her!
"Your ship's made out of wood!" And I loved how he was just sort of mouthing along while she was saying, "It's bigger on the inside than on the outside!"
And he doesn't seem to wear socks, does he? If he'd had socks, he'd have kept them on, right?
Oh, and what sort of stupid Time Lord-- who has two hearts and a temperature of 60 degrees Fahrenheit-- checks into a hospital? I mean, hasn't he kind of learned he shouldn't do that kind of thing? Hey, Doctor, remember San Francisco? Grace Holloway? The morgue?! Obviously, it wouldn't have got that bad, if he was just sitting around A-OK kvetching about having a tummyache, if they started talking about having his second heart out he could just scarper, but, really...
Ten makes a special effort to set off my maternal instincts. I swear he does. The jerk. There he is, in his jammies, in a hospital bed, and there are his skinny little toesies, and there he is, almost entirely dead of blood loss... I keep having attacks of this overwhelming compulsion to hug him! I mean, he started with it in "Christmas Invasion" and he hasn't much let up since. It's very unkind of him.

Crumpet Lord Love and monsters doesn't count as an episode, far as i'm concerned, so Jettrick does hate everything about the new series xp Okay, I'll give you that one... xd Lullabee Was it really necessary that he snog her, though? Getting kissed by someone you barely know might make me upset, but if some stranger walked up and licked my face I think I'd be thoroughly creeped out. Is the Doctor still half-human? Shouldn't he have registered as a human/non-human hybrid or something?

I've gotta say I hated this episode. I thought it was ridiculous. Why go to the trouble of taking a building to the moon to go through the building looking for an alien? If you can put a force field around the building, why would you need to further isolate the building by putting it on the moon? And besides, wouldn't it have been fun to have the rhinos attack the police or military if they decided to show up? Probably wasn't within the budget.
A friend made a copy of the episode for me and I now think it was a complete waste of time.
I will say I like the new companion though. I miss Rose, but I do like the new one.

Martha: And they brought us to the moon? Doctor: Neutral territory. According to galactic law they've got no jurisdiction over the Earth, so they isolated it [the hospital].

I think the Doctor's getting used to his new time travel freedom now that the Time Lords are gone. This is the second time he crossed his own timeline willingly. He can do whatever he wants with the TARDIS now and no one has the power to stop him. I'm hoping that this comes back to bite him in the a**. Not because I wish him ill, I just think it would make a cool story. mrgreen

Shouldn't he have registered as a human/non-human hybrid or something? Yeah, I know, but I was just using it as an example. I'm not entirely sure he really had to do anything like that. Wouldn't just kissing her on the cheek have been pretty much just as effective? Well, whatever. I guess it just seemed like the simplest, most foolproof thing to do, and anyway it often seems like he doesn't notice the significance of those sorts of human things.
As for the half-human thing... well, I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't really have mattered much to the Judoon. He's alien enough to not be from Earth, whatever he is, he's not human. Part-human is still an alien.
Oh, and what sort of a hospital will admit some bloke who's just pretending to have a stomachache? That I don't get. He was probably just sitting around in bed all day moaning theatrically and trying to avoid anyone with a stethoscope. One simply must ask, WTF? Wouldn't any hospital with any sense just get fed up and give him the bum's rush if he doesn't start having proper symptoms and stop winking at anyone trying to check his vital signs? It's a hospital, not a school infirmary! xd Perhaps it's just the dark circles under his eyes. He looks peaky enough... Or he's really really good at faking sick. Wasn't he a really bad student way way way back when? ("51 percent on your second attempt!") Perhaps he's mastered the art of pretending to be ill.

Crumpet Lord Hairy Priest Takuha See, no offence Jettrick but you seem to hate every single episode of the new series. God knows why you still like the show considering how many times you've said that the episodes are crap. And for the record, every other new season opening has been crap appart from this one. However I do agree with rthat piece about the kissing and carrying Martha threough the hospital, it was just plain unnessecary. Well, he's entitled to his opinion (and he does point out a couple valid plot nitpicks). Also, I seem to remember Jettrick being one of the few supporters (sort of) of Love & Monsters, a story which most everyone else seemed to dislike (or like less than the rest of series 2, at any rate). So, it's not like he hates everything about the new series. Love and monsters doesn't count as an episode, far as i'm concerned, so Jettrick does hate everything about the new series xp Funny, I don't remember 'liking' Love and Monsters neutral It was Girl in the Fireplace I weighed in on in with my rampant fanboyish glee. I think maybe I supported the idea of Boom Town too but it was *such* a long time ago now. The things that make me really happy in new Who are the Daleks, Anthony Head and *that* swimming pool. Only two of them are meant to be taken together at any one time, mind >.>

When he's so skinny does anyone else want to strap him down and force feed him banana milkshakes?

Well, that episode potentionally had a lot of potential, if someone else had written it.
They should've replaced all the running-down-corridors s**t with some good old capture-and-escape stuff. I know the Judoon don't seem like the types to capture, but somebody else is writing it!
Also, instead of kissing Martha, he should've just licked her face.
Damn RTD stare

I mean I'm used to him being in the part but I just still don't like him as much as I liked CE. Like how I have never accepted PM as the 8th doctor.

donkey.logic Lullabee [Way too long to quote. I've certainly got a gob!] Tehe, I was prancing around at the point going TimeLords don't wear socks! I'm slightly strange like that... When he's so skinny does anyone else want to strap him down and force feed him banana milkshakes? He looks far too skinny to be carrying Martha around at any point in time whatsoever, never mind when he's just almost died of blood loss. I swear, the reason they stuck that bit in wasn't for the sake of melodrama. It's to see if skinny little David Tennant can carry Miss Healthily Proportioned Freema Agy-Something around. Just 'cos if you were a writer, wouldn't you play silly buggers with the actors sometimes?
And have his eyes always had those bluish circles under them? And have they always looked that sunken? sad
But apparently he has an unlimited supply of Chuck Taylor All-Stars and sonic screwdrivers. So he's all set, really!
